Let's say there are two hotels under the same star rating in the same area, but one is nicer (Westin vs Hilton, both 3.5 stars). Both are reported as winning bids under these criteria. If I start my bidding higher, does it increase the chance of getting into the nicer hotel? If both hotels are available, I would assume Priceline would fill the requests for the higher priced hotel if possible, otherwise it would default to the lower priced hotel with a lower bid. Hope this makes sense. I suppose you always run the risk of paying 'too much' for the lower priced hotel.

I too am looking for 8/5-8/9 downtown San Fran for a wedding. Holy toledo - it's expensive!!! I live in a very pricey resort town and rooms here for 3* & 4* are cheaper this weekend. Of course, we don't have bad neighborhoods to stay away from, which is my concern in the big city. I'm almost wondering if I might find a walk in rate somewhere in the city once I'm there. If you find anything, please post here, so I can 'use the betterbidding.com link' and avoid sleeping in the street. Cheers! Sheryl

It's Pueblo Bonito Pacifica, 4.5 stars in Cabo. Got 3 nights checking in April 19 for $99 + tax/fees per night. You have to do at least 3 nights (they are running a special 3rd night free, so this is probably why?). Checking in Monday worked for 3 nights. Checking in later in the week did not work for only 3 nights, but you can do a full week and get the dates later in the week as well - if that makes sense. This is a great deal! I think I figured it out ... Pueblo Bonito Pacifica as it's the only Adults Only hotel I could find in Cabo (except a clothing optional, which obviously HOTWIRE wouldn't list), and Hotwire has this listing as an Adults Only.
