  1. I agree with you that Ritz Carlton is very pricey. However, I saw one attractive package (Air+Hotel+Credit) posted on Travelzoo.com before which costs about $800 pp. That was a nice deal if you only plan to stay in Maui. For me, it did not work because I also went to Oahu.
  2. Sorry to update my trip late. I had a wonderful time with my wife in Oahu and Maui. The Hyatt was our first stay (3 nt). We were accomodated in a high floor 32th with more privacy even though the room only had city view. I have to say the room is average, no fancy. You can hear the noise when the guest in other rooms closed the door. Anyway, the location is perfect. It takes about 5-10 minutes walking to international market. We very enjoyed walking on the major street at night. We have decided to stay at Sheraton Waikiki next time since they recently completed the remodeling. Regardint the Maui, we got upgrade to the oceanfront view room in Shearton. We were in Building 4 which directly faces the pool and garden. However, as same as Hyatt, the interior of room is in average and the bed is not very comfortable to be honesy. We visited the other hotels and very impressed by Marriorit Kaannpali and Ritz-Calton. Maybe next time I would consider them.
  3. The website is lastminutetravel.com,which I found it recently.
  4. Hi, I am planning my first trip to SF over the labor day weekend (Sep 4- Sep 6) and have difficulty choosing the hotel. I realzed that the most winning bid in good area is around $100-$110, such as Parc 55. I prefer to stay at Union Square but there are lots of areas (USE, USW,...) on Priceline.com. Today, I found a deal which I believe is very attractive. It is Flight (LAX to SFO) plus 2 night stay at Hyatt Regancy (Financial District), total cost is around $440 including tax and fee for 2 people. Therefore, I feel hesitated to bid the hotel since Price seems reasonable. However, I still would like to hear the expert opinion from you guys. Thank you for your time reading my post. RL
  5. Almost gave up with too many failures on this bidding. However, ended up with Sheraton Maui Resort at $175. It is not really that bad since my trip is during the long weekend (memorial day) even though I was targeting to get Hyatt Regency. I think it might be better to bid for Marrioit because the price is comparably cheapter. I did not raise my bid to $140 so I deserved the consequence. The Sheraton Maui charges $25 resort fee including internet, self-parking, 1st day valet parking, gym,... I realized that PRICELINE.com has intention to charge more tax and fees on the bidding transaction. For my case is 15.9%,which shall be 12.6% if booking via regular web access. I called customer service to find out why but they were unable to provide reasonable explanation. Anyway, I will be more careful next time since it is my first experience with hotel bidding. Thanks for all suggestions posted here.
  6. I was trying to get Hyatt but no success in bidding so far. Therefore, I consider swtiching my target to Marriorit. Since you recent stayed over there, could you please kindly let me know if there is any alternative parking place with cheaper price? Thank you.
  7. Just want to clarify my understanding is correct: 1. Select Kaanapali and Bid $145 2. If rejected, add Re-bid Zone 1 and Bid $150 3. If rejected, Remove Re-bid Zone 1 and change it to Re-bid Zone 2, Bid $155 4. If rejected, Add Re-bid zone 1 and Bid $160. If all above try fail, I think I have to include Wilea to get better chance to win Marriot. However, another question pop up: can I start all over from low bid such as $110 if I target to get Marriot? 1. Select Wilea, and bid $110 2. If rejected, add Kaanapali and bid $120 3. If rejected, remove Kaanapai and add re-bid zone 2, bid $130 4. same strategy goes on...
  8. I would like to go bid for a Resort in the Kaanapli zone first. I am also curious that if I can re-bid with a lower price after 24 hours. Will PL track the bidding history?
  9. Very nice deal. Dont' forget Marriott charges $25 resort fee per night.
  10. The $760 is including the tax and fee. As far as I know, the tour for pearl harbor, circle island, and culture center is $30, $25 and $90 dollars pp respectively. Therefore, the hotel rate for Hyatt shall be around $150/nt including sercharge and breakfast. I may overpay about $100 at most.
  11. I will not take TA for Maui trip. I am looking for Resort class property only. I have seen many users here won the bid for Hyatt at $150-$160 so my offering shall be in that range as well. My preference is Kaanapali (1st priority) and Wailea.
  12. I have not decided to bid for Oahu hotel yet because I am still waiting for travel agent quote. It might be out of the topic, but trying to see if the current offering I got is reasonable: $760 for two people 4 day 3 nights in Hyatt with breakfast, 3 tours including pear harbor, circle island and cultural center. Pickup and drop-off is covered as well. Any thoughts from the expert here? Thanks.
  13. I am little nervous before bidding for maui hotel. Below is my strategy going to play: 1. Choose Kaanapali and Resort, put $125 2. if rejected, add Kahului airport, put $135 3. if rejected, delete Kaanapali, put $145 5. if rejected, add Kahului airport, put $155 6. .... Will be that working? Please advise. Thank you.

  15. Pick-up Date: 5/29 Noon Drop-off Date: 6/1 Noon Alamo Rental A Car Maui, Kahului Airport Standard Convertible (Unlimited Mileage) Subtotal:$87 Tax/Fee: $38.21 Total:$125.21 My first offer $20 was rejected. The system suggested me to increase the bid to $29. Average acceptance price is $30. To avoid re-bidding, I just placed $29 and immediately got accepted. I know someone got $14/day for mid-size in Honulu, that is pretty awesome. However, considering the vehicle type, I enjoy my win-bid. Sorry, forgot to use the link to bid. I will do that when I try to bid for Maui hotel. The first experience with PL is very nice.
  16. Thank you very much for your information. I just learned that Hyatt has 48 hour sales running right now with $169/nt (non-refundable). Not sure if I need to pull the trigger The awaken package is starting from $173/nt with 3-day ahead cancellation policy.
  17. I am trying to find the middle ground, nice hotel with reasonable price. I prefer to stay in a quite and relaxed place, close to the beach and with kitchen available.
  18. Hi Everyone, I am new to the board and trying to get some constructive suggestion on how to bid for the great hotels in Oahu and Maui. The trip is scheduled from May 27 to June 2 for honeymoon of my wife and I, therefore I would like to pick up 4* resort or above as my only options. May 27 - May 29 3 Nights in Waikiki Beach (Target to get Hyatt Regancy Resort or Outrigger Reef) Up to 130 per night May 30 - June 1 3 Nights in Ka'napali (Target to get Hyatt Regancy Resort, Hilton Resort, or anything else good) Up to 200 per night I still feel little confused when bidding. If I increase my offering several times and still not get accepted, can I stop a certian period and re-bid for the same date again? I do not want to change my trip schedule. Your advice will be very appreciated. Ricken
