  1. There is a Mag Mile 4 1/2 * that has smoke-free that I can't identify, one Loop 4* and two Gold Coast hotels. They all have several hotels that they could be. Any recommendations? We are flexible for area, but would prefer a boutique, although we don't see one! Thanks for your help! Every time we decide to travel, we come HERE first!
  2. All in all, this was a cute boutique hotel. We got it for $65 on a Friday night, not bad. Nice neighborhood. It's all decorated in blues and whites. The lobby was cute, big adirondack chairs, nice looking bar and restaurant. When we went to check in, we asked for a king bed and got upcharged $20. The room was ok, a bit on the small size. Again, all WHITE woodwork. Problem with white woodwork is you have to clean it or repaint it, looked pretty bad. My family came in later and asked for two queens, and were told they were sold out. So they moved up to a king bed, and they tried to upcharge them $50. Luckily we were standing there, told them ours was $20 and they had to honor it. Then they were also upcharged another $20 for a rollaway. Smallish room, theirs had no sunlight, a view of the interior fire escape. Odd. All in all, a nicely decorated but no kept up hotel. The upcharges will kill you, on top of the $40 parking charge. Take the train. We didn't eat in their restaurant as it was very expensive, ate next door in cute inexpensive place. The whole place felt very cramped. The staff was a bit snarky. Probably won't stay there again.
  3. I just stayed here over the weekend as well. Nice, good sized room, great beds, pretty cool lobby. Nothing extraordinary. The free breakfast was great. Happy hour with appetizers were good but in a very small room. Otherwise, really nice!
  4. Maybe this needs a separate thread, but I would agree with what you've all said about the W City Center. The problem however is that the W Lakeshore Drive has gone downhill BIG time. It's a whole different clientele, not as clean, service not as good, very disappointing all in all. The walls to our room were so thin we could hear the neighbors having sex half the night. Not an enjoyable experience at this hotel. City Center is still much nicer.
  5. OK, so some friends are looking for Friday night in Chicago. I see what seems to be a four star NMA hotel with: non-smoking restaurant fitness biz internet Looks like the Affinia? Any other recommendations for any of the downtown areas for this Friday night?
  6. Wow - you're good! Yes, it was the Amalfi. Booked for 4/8-9 $89. Thanks!
  7. Thanks, I think I'll try the Amalfi! The only drawback of most of these great "deals" is the PARKING. Amalfi's is $45. Maybe we could have a thread only for the parking fees with each hotel?
  8. I have a couple of options for Thursday night 4/8-9: Mag Mile 4 star Bed choice Fitness Restaurant Biz Internet 85% customer reviews Looking in all the downtown areas... I see something that looks like Amalfi, Indigo, Intercontinental and the Palmer House. Any of these better than others?
  9. I am wondering if anyone has been able to book The James or The Drake recently. I am looking for 4/7-9 this week and saw one in the Mag Mile that looked like The James but was only 75 dollars! Four star Fitness Restaurant Business Internet Spa 85% of customers
