This took a while. LGA location is actually more convenient for my itinerary, but was hoping for a good Manhatten deal -- like the NYC vibe. Used about 50 rebids over the past week and bid up to $190 for 4* in all midtown locations, $160 for 3* and $135 for 2.5* without success. Hotwire prices were high for that time, so I knew it would be a challenge. Settled on the LGA location and started at $98, then bid $106 and $112 using free rebids. That's $100 less than the Holiday Inn's pre-payment option, so it seems like a decent-enough deal. And the adjacent-to-Shea location, for this trip, works really well. I think this is the old Ramada Plaza -- if so, it's been upgraded to 3* status with the switch to Holiday Inn. While blocks away from a 7-train stop, other posters have claimed the area is a little sketchy at night. I'm traveling solo, so despite being "citywise", I may need to cab back from midtown rather than taking a midnight subway (although, even with a $30 cab ride, I'm ahead). Any thoughts on this from any NYers?
