Also bid at $62 and lost. This must have popped up in the last day or two because I have been bidding up to $70 and getting close but never winning (counteroffers). Used a bit of bonus cash too to really sweeten it! (So really, I won it at $57 plus $6 bonus cash.)

Just wanted to clear up one thing... in my search for hotels in Paris, I noticed that the Melia Vendome Boutique Hotel is not in the zone listed on this list. It is in Opera Quarter WEST, not Opera Quarter East. Reference the zone maps at priceline.com and Melia Vendome's location at Google Maps.

They also gave me free breakfast because check-in "took longer than expected." I didn't even know that 3 minutes to check in was long? Breakfast was delicious!!!

Also lost at $111 and added another zone to rebid. This zone is way too big IMO. We wanted to be closer to the Hyatt Vendome, where we are staying the next two nights.

Some weird things happened when I bid tonight for one night (3/17) in Madrid. Punched in 4* for Old Madrid zone. Bid $70. REJECTED. Had no rebids so moved on to La Castellana, which isn't as nice. :-( Punched in 4* for La Castellana zone. Bid $63. Was asked to immediately change offer to $78 for guaranteed rebid. Could tell I was close. Closed browswer. Punched in 4* for BOTH ZONES. Bid $66. I was then bounced to the retail side and told I should look at Priceline's retail offerings. The URL even said "RetailBounce." Any ideas as to what happened?

Not a new zone. Just not a popular zone. Only 1* bidding. Could be either of these hotels: Boston Hotel Buckminster Howard Johnson Fenway Park Could be something else entirely! Either way, you're only getting a 1* and how much money are you really saving versus retail?
