  1. First bid $70 ... rejected Second bid $75 ... accepted (Downtown is the only zone with 4* hotels, so you have plenty of free rebid zones to play with) Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $75.00 Subtotal: $225.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $38.81 Total Charges*: $263.81 My concern is that I have read some unflattering reviews about the rooms priceline winners are given. Does anyone know what the standard priceline room is? Their website lists Standard Queens, Deluxe Kings or Deluxe Double/Doubles as "guest rooms". I'm guessing the Standard Queen is the priceline room, but I'd like confirmation if anyone knows. Is it wise to pay for an upgrade at this hotel? Is there a certain floor or a certain side of the hotel I should request? Any help would be appreciated. This is a surprise Valentine's Day trip and I would hate for it to be tainted by a poor hotel room experience. Thanks!
  2. Sorry I never replied, but this was a surprise b-day trip for wife and I was doing everything very low-profile and had minimal chances to plan everything. I ended up bidding a 4 star in Vancouver. Bid 100 - denied Rebid 110 - denied Rebid 120 - denied Rebid - 125 ... accepted! Ended up with the Hyatt Regency. Great hotel, great location, great city, great vacation! Thanks for the help. Will make paypal contribution soon.
  3. Thanks for all the advice. I used thereuare's strategy, and still had 1 rebid zone available at which point I bid $140 and was still rejected. Since the trip was planned already I just booked with a hotel directly in the downtown area. Guess that's just how it goes sometimes. I was unaware of the support links until today, but I will make a paypal contribution as this site has been VERY helpful.
  4. thanks for the replies. I'd prefer to stay near the attractions and just take a cab to the airport. Do you need a rental car to explore the main attractions in Vancouver? I'll check the Seattle info now. Thanks so much.
  5. Never been to Vancouver, so I need help choosing a location. I'm flying out of Vancouver Airport on 7/23 early a.m. so I'd like to be near the airport, but also near the main activity area. i'd prefer 4* and am willing to go up to $125/night. Thank you!
  6. I do want to stay in the downtown area. I'd prefer 4 star and am willing to go up to 125/night.
  7. I'm flying into Seattle on 7/17 very late, actually arriving 7/18 just after midnight. I need a room for 3 nights beginning the 17th. I'd like to stay near the amtrak station as I am leaving the 20th early morning on the train. I believe Downtown is the closest priceline region to the amtrak station, but I may be wrong. Having never been to Seattle I don't know much about the quality of hotels. I'd like to keep the cost under $100/night. Can I get a 4-star for this price? If not are the 3-stars good quality/location? If there is a significant difference in quality I'd be willing to go up to $125 for a 4-star. Thanks for always helping me with my vacation planning!

  10. Thanks for your help. I ended up booking the Doubletree on their site for 79/night!
  11. Any way of knowing which hotels the "off record" on EasyClickTravel are. There is a 3-1/2 star for $63, and I'm trying to guess which hotel it is. EDIT- Also, what does "on request" mean?
  12. Thank you both for your input. I've had a change in plans and have to check out on 7/4 (Monday), so I'm now looking at 2 nights. Would there be any issues with booking the same hotel with 2 differen sites?
  13. Hello to all. This has been a great resource for me in the past and I'm hoping it will be again. Going to vegas this weekend. Checking in 7/2 and checking out 7/5. Would love to score a 4* or higher on the strip. Also wouldn't mind the Rio or the Westin. Looking to spend around 300 total, but willing to go a little higher if the deal is great. Thanks in advance!
  14. Have stayed at Rio before and was very happy with that hotel. Never stayed at Venetian, but I hear it's nice. It's a special occassion so I would like a suite. I want to keep it under $100/night as I'm working on a budget. The Venetian is going for $149 on their website, and the Rio for a $115 avg for those dates on their website. I've seen people win the Venetian for $99, but no lower. What are the chances of getting the Venetian for $99 or less? What is a realistic bid for the Rio? Also, what's a realistic bid for a 4-star on the strip? Thanks!
  15. We are flying out to New York tonight. Just wanted to thank you guys for your help. This board has been a wealth of information. I'll be sure to post a trip report when we get back. Thereuare, We decided against the Cooperstown day trip, so we wont be needing taxi service, but thanks for you offer.
  16. thereuare, I would like the least expensive option, therefore the PATH sounds like the way to go. How far is Newark Penn Station from airport and where could I get a bus/train to take me there? Also, I assume to get from hotel to airport I'd just backtrack exactly the way I got from airport to hotel. Does PATH offer any type of pass like Metro does? Is the Statue of Liberty allowing visitors inside Lady Liberty and/or up to the top? Thank you.
  17. Thank you so much thereuare & dahammer for your help. We are very pleased & excited about our hotel purchase & our trip. This is by far the best and most enjoyable bidding forum around and the only one I use. Keep up the great work! I'll do some research for our trip and then post any questions I may have. Actually, I just thought of one. What's the best way to get to this hotel from Newark airport (we changed our arrival airport to be closer to our hotel)? Thanks!
  18. $46 bid accepted on 1st attempt (Priceline). 3* Jersey City. Thanks for your help! Check-In Date: Saturday, February 12, 2005 Check-Out Date: Wednesday, February 16, 2005 Hotel Name: Hyatt Regency Jersey City On The Hudson 2 Exchange Place Jersey City, New Jersey 07302 201-469-1234 Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $184.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $34.57 Total Charges: $218.57
  19. Yes, it is in or very close to Kapaa. Regular price is $75+/night.
  20. I don't think a car is necessary if you'll be spending most of your time on the strip. The Westin is a 5 minute walk to Las Vegas Blvd. where there is bus service up and down the strip until well into the night. The new tram is also up and running and there is a station at Bally's, which is also a 5 minute walk from the Westin. I think this is a great deal and hope to win this hotel on priceline in the future.
  21. Thanks dahammer for your suggestions. I checked out the photos and comments and this sounds like a great deal. thereuare: What hotels am I likely to get bidding 3* in Jersey City? Also, I see the Hyatt has been won with bids in the mid $30 range. Why do you suggest I start with $48?
  22. Kauai Sands Hotel Amenities: Beachfront Restaurant(s) Pool(s) Fitness Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) 1 room(s) @ $56.00 per night x 10 night(s) $560.00 Taxes and fees: $70.95 Hotel Subtotal $630.95 Total Price $630.95 Nice hotel. Old style (think 70's), but very clean. 2 pools. Right in front of beach, although not a swimable beach (rough water). Nothing fancy, but nice for the price.
  23. The Westin Casuarina Las Vegas Check-In Date: Thu, Dec 23, 2004 Check-In Time: After 03:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Dec 26, 2004 Check-Out Time: 12:00 PM Your Offer Price: $80.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $240.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $34.51 Total Charges: $274.51 I was a little dissapointed when I won this bid because I was hoping for something actually on the strip. The Westin is just off the strip, close to Bally's. Was not a big problem because we had a car. I was glad we did get this hotel, though. Great service, very nice room, awesome bed & shower. Not much of a casino, but if you don't mind that, it's a great hotel. Regular price is around 200/night.
  24. ALAMO Your Offer Price: $15.00 Total Rental Days: 10 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes & Fees: $64.40 Total Charges: $214.40 (USD)
