  1. Used above PRICELINE link. Bid $64 for 3.5* Philadelphia (Airport PHL), got counteroffer of $75. Instead, I added a free zone and rebid $65, accepted by Sheraton Suites Piladelphia Airport.
  2. Used link. Bid 3.5* San Jose South up to $69 fishing for Dolce Hayes Mansion 9/3/11 - 9/5/11, not successful. Linked back in and bid 4* starting at 63 increasing to 69, finally 69 accepted by Double Tree.
  3. Used the PRICELINE link. Bid for 11/19/11 - 11/20/11 (2 rooms) 3* Central Valley (Patterson) $45 unsuccessful. Added free zone and rebid $50, accepted by Best Western Plus Villa Del Lago Inn. Highly rated, just off Interstate 5 Freeway, and on the way from So Cal to, i.e., Oakland and San Francisco Bay Area, etc. I think I just discovered a best kept secret!
  4. Used the PRICELINE link. Bid up to $80 for 2 rooms, 3* Central Coast, SLO, Paso Robles and Pismo for 11/19-11/20/11 and was not successful. Switched days to 11/22/11 - 11/23/11 and first bid of $77 accepted by Courtyard by Marriott, San Luis Obispo.
  5. Used the PRICELINE link. For 11/20/11 - 11/22/11 (2 rooms) 4* bids for USE, USW, Embarcadero and Moscone up to $86 were rejected. Bid for 3.5* Fisherman's Wharf $65 rejected, rebid $70 rejected, then rebid $75 accepted by Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf.
  6. Used PRICELINE link. Needed a local room for tonight. Tried $45 for 2.5* Redlands, unsuccessful. Exited and re-enterd via the PRICELINE link, and bid $50 for 3.5* Riverside-San Benrardino, accepted by Riverside Marriott.
  7. Needed a room for tonight, 6/9/11 - 6/10/11. First bid of $50, accepted by 3.5* Inland Empire (Riverside-San Bernardino) Marriott Riverside.
  8. Used the PRICELINE link. For Saturday 8/13/11-8/14/11, I bid $65 for 3.5* Pasadena, got countered $85. Added free zones over the next 2 days. Rebid $68 countered $88. Rebid $69 countered $89. Crept up to $71 unsuccessfully and used up free 3.5* zones. Then exited, reentered through the board PRICELINE link, and Bid $72 for 3* Pasadena only. Accepted by 3.5* Sheraton Pasadena. Not as uscale as the Westin, but not a bad selection and well located. Compact refrigerator, complimentary shuttle within 3 miles... Looking forward to it!
  9. Bid $65 and got counteroffer of $85. Added zones, crept up to $70 accepted by Sheraton Downtown LA.
  10. Used the PRICELINE link, bid $50 for 3* Los Angeles (Culver City) 3/26/11 - 3/27/11, got counteroffer $65. Added zones and crept up to $52, accepted by Radisson Westside.
  11. Used Link. Bid $65 for 5* South Strip 5/30/11 - 5/31/11. Got counteroffer $85. Ignored it and instead added North Strip, rebid $70 rejected, added Lake Las Vegas free zone, rebid $75 accepted by Aria. Looking forward to it....
  12. Used the PRICELINE link. Bid $70 for 4* Las Vegas (Lake Las Vegas), was countered $90, then over a couple more days I repeatedly added free zones and rebid $1, ignoring $20+ counters, until finally $79 was accepted by Loews Lake Las Vegas. Seems nice on websites, and looking forward...
  13. Used the PRICELINE link. Bid $68 for 4* LA Downtown 3/12/11 - 3/13/11, got countered $88. Added zone, bid $70 rejected. Added 3.5* bid $70 rejected. Rebid $75, accepted and upgraded to 4* Westin Bonaventure. That's the one I was hoping to get from the beginning. Thanks Forum...
  14. Used the PRICELINE link. Bid $75 for 4* San Diego (Coastal) 4/16/11 - 4/18/11, rejected. Added zone & re-bid $78, Accepted by Hyatt Regency La Jolla.
  15. Bid $47, got counter offer to rebid $62. Instead added zones and re-bid up getting $50 accepted by Radisson Westside. Used PRICELINE link.
  16. Used above PRICELINE link, bid for 4* Orange County (Dana Point-San Clemente) 2/12/11 - 2/13/11, at first $90, got counteroffer to rebid $115, added free zones, rebid $91, rejected, then rebid of $92 was accepted by Marriott Laguna Cliffs Resort & Spa. Looking forward to it... And thanks to the forum's prior posters.
  17. I used the above PRICELINE link and initially bid $86 for 3.5* Los Angeles (Santa Monica) on Saturday 1/22/11-1/23/11 & got counteroffer to rebid $111. Instead I added a free zone and my next $89 rebid was accepted by Sheraton Delfina. Mixed reviews. Also, their site says it has complementary self parking, but quite a few comments on Tripadvisor have expressed otherwise. We'll see. Overall it appears to be a decent deal and we'll be looking forward to the area visit in any event.
  18. Used above PRICELINE link. Bid $70 for 3.5* San Diego (North County Coastal). Got counteroffer of $90. Crept up rebidding using free zones until finally my $80 rebid was accepted by Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa. We're quite pleased, and looking forward to Legoland. And many thanks to the forum for honing us in!
  19. We bid again for another room on the same day at the same price, and, as hoped, got the same hotel for the 2nd room.
  20. Bid $62 for 5* Pest for 3-day getaway, got counteroffer to rebid $79. Instead added Buda and rebid $65, not accepted. Really strategizing and hoping for a romantic 5* hotel along the river such as Sofitel Chain Bridge, so next day bid the $75 amount previously accepted by them as posted on the forum. Got $75 bid accepted, but by Hilton West End with no Danube, castle or bridge view nor even located near tourist spots, but next to a shopping mall and train station (homeless refuge) instead. :) Truly disappointed.
  21. Used BB's PRICELINE link. Bid $65 for 5* Prague (East), got counteroffer to raise it to $79. Over a couple more days, added zones, tried again, rebid up to finally getting $74 accepted by Hilton Prague. Quite pleased with the outcome.
  22. If I'm not mistaken, I think it's the same Hermitage as offered for 4.5* on Hotwire for much less than you're bidding.
  23. Thanks again to the forum for the sound advice regarding the traditional Long Beach convention hotels, After rejections up to $92 for 3.5* and $85 for 3* for 9/15/11 - 9/18/11, I bid $65 for 3.5* a little offsite in San Pedro instead, and got bid accepted by Crown Plaza (which remarkably has free parking). From that location it would appear to be a scenic bus ride to/from the convention and a significant savings over the 3 day stay, not to mention a little different area to explore. :)
  24. Shot down trying for 3.5* for $89, and 3* for $80. It's a large annual convention drawing attendance from throughout the state. But not all of the hotels are participating in it, only the Hyatt Regency and the Convention Center I believe. Do I try bidding monthly, or await expiration of the convention specials, await a successful BB posting for those days, wait to the last minute, or when do you think I should again test the waters?
  25. I guess $89 for a 3.5* and $75 for 3*. Thanks for the sensible advice.
