  1. Thanks for the suggestion thereuare. I've confirmed the MGM package is refundable up to 48 hours so I've made a reservation at the MGM for now. You're right the location is definitely an advantage - not only to NYNY but also a close ride to the airport. Guess I'll keep checking Hotwire in the mean time. Thanks again.
  2. On a trip to LV was supposed to return on 4/5 on an overnight flight but Air Canada screwed me and moved the flight up to 1:15PM, so now have to stay an extra night because I have tickets to Zumanity that night just before the flight (admittedly, it's not like you have to twist my arm to spend an extra night in LV). In any case, am spending 4/3 and 4/4 at the Venetian, and this being an anniversary trip want to finish the trip out in a decent hotel. The 2 nights at Venetian were already booked through Hotwire at $117 / night. Checked Hotwire again for 4/5 and it's $207 for 1 night! Ouch. Am looking at at least a 4* on the Strip - I'll even take the Westin. Tried PL at $55, $60, $65, $70. All rejected. Had a counter offer of $99. Hotwire has a 4* (looks like the Aladdin) for $100. Can't quite decide. Just checked MGM Grand's website and they have a package for $109 with a $25 dining credit - so effectively bring the rate down to $84. Looking for suggestions on what I should do. Wait and try PL again in 72 hours, go for the $100 Howtiwre, or take the MGM Grand package (since I have to eat anyway right?). I'm leaning toward the MGM Grand package but could use some advice. Thanks. :)
  3. Since you have a UK credit card I would just use the UK site. If you book through the US or HK sites you will end up being charged in US$ or HK$, which means it's really hard to tell how much you're paying for until your credit card statement comes back because the exchange rates (and associated service fees) on foreign currency transactions can be so erratic. As far as I can tell the different local sites are really all the same - just operate on different languages / base currency.
  4. Just checked with the dates and yes I'd say it's about 95% chance it'll be the Venetian. As suspected if you only stay there for the first 3 nights it's coming up at $114, which I honestly doubt will go much lower. It is the Venetian after all. If you're not hung up on staying through the whole 4 nights I'd probably go for the first 3 there, and find something else for the Friday night. Friday night alone is coming up at $226 on Hotwire. As nice as the hotel is IMO it's just a bit pricey. In any case, yes the final Hotwire price includes all taxes, except for incidentals like parking, room service, etc. Good luck.
  5. Hi, 5* Strip Customer Favourite does look like it'll be the Venetian. Check the amenities against the list of hotels. I am booked there through Hotwire for $117 / night for 4/3/2005 for 2 nights. I checked the hotel website and they are offering $169, so looks like I got a decent deal. In fact Hotwire is now showing $119 for those same dates. On the other hand, you may be able to get a better deal through Priceline - but no guarantee. Luckily (well, sort of) since I am in Canada I can't use Priceline anyway so I don't have to struggle between who might give me a better deal. All this being said, check the Venetian website and see what they're offering for those nights. Plus since your stay includes a Friday, I would try breaking up the dates and see if the rates come out any different. Weekend rates in Vegas sometimes are so insane. Good luck.
  6. Confirmed Reservation DoubleTree Hotel Albuquerque - 3.5* - Downtown Albuquerque March 25, 2005 for 2 nights @ $43 / night Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Gym Note: Hotel website charging $89.95 / night.
  7. Confirmed Booking Baymont Inns and Suites - 2.5* - Las Cruces, New Mexico March 28, 2005 for 1 night @ $28 Amenities: Pool Note: Need to stay somewhere on the way back to Phoenix from Carlsbad Caverns, for $28 what more can I ask. You have to search for El Paso for this one. Hotel website charging $54.99 a night.
  8. Hi all, Below is a confirmed booking, thought I'd share. Hyatt Regency Phoenix - 4* - Downtown Phoenix March 29, 2005 for 1 night @ $67 Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Gym, Business Centre Note: Awesome! Definitely a better hotel that I was expecting. Hyatt's website is charging $185! What more can I ask for. Looking forward to the stay.
  9. Hi all, Was in Ottawa back in December. Just found out about this site, thought I'd share my Hotwire booking with you. Quality Hotel Downtown - 2* - Downtown Ottawa December 29, 2004 for 2 nights at US$50 / night Amenities: Airport Shuttle, Restaurant Note: Used to live in Ottawa so I did think this might be the hotel and it was. Excellent location for the price and I'd give it more than 2 stars. Rigth downtown, close to shopping, attractions, etc. Parking was C$9.50 a night. Can't remember what the hotel was charging but was close to C$100 a night I think.
  10. Hi all, Just want to share the details of a few hotel reservations made through Hotwire to help out in your decision-making process. Flamingo Las Vegas - 3.5* - The Strip March 23, 2005 for 2 nights at $50 / night Amenities are Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Gym, Spa, Golf, Tennis, Business Centre Note: Appears to be a good deal. Boooking with the hotel directly was going to be $75 / night (latest rate calendar shows $105). Golden Gate - 2.5* - Downtown Las Vegas March 30, 2005 for 2 nights at $35 / night Amenities are Casino, Restaurant Note: Unfortunately this turned out to be the first bad deal I got through Hotwire. It's actually cheaper to book directly through the hotel or via www.vegas.com - their rates seem higher but the booking fee on Hotwire more than nullify the saving - and booking fee is not eligible for the Double the Difference guarantee. Venetian - 5* - Customer Favourite - The Strip April 3, 2005 for 2 nights at $117 / night Amenities are Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Gym, Spa, High Speed Internet, Golf, Tennis, Business Centre Note: Definitely good deal!!! Hotel charging $169 / night. Was hoping to stay at Paris Las Vegas (admittedly my favourite) but booking through the Paris website is $139 / night, so why wouldn't you want to pay less for the Venetian? Good luck everyone.
