  1. There are no hotels on the island. You may be best looking in Queens. One option would be the Marriott Courtyard East River, which is on 91st or 92nd. This is a 10 minute walk from the footbridge to the island. As it is the only hotel in a wide radius you would have a decent chance of getting it with a bidding strategy I think. You can also take a bus to the island. Street parking is possible near the Marriott but remember not to park within 10 feet of a hydrant and check for alternate parking rules
  2. Yes, Tallahassee North. Pool, business center and Internet were the three amenities featured
  3. $47.43 including taxes By normal ratings this is NOT a 2.5 star hotel. It is only rated in this way by HOTWIRE. PRICELINE is generally good at keeping to standardized star ratings. Hotwire and Travelocity's secret rooms are not. I also recently got a motel-style hotel in Fort Pierce rated 2.5 star by Hotwire that had no amenities at all and overlooked a car park. And a Red Carpet near Fort Lauderdale. Priceline recently gave us the Holiday Inn Melbourne, by Route 95, - a standard Holiday Inn with a small unheated pool - as a 3 star. This place has a pool, by the way, but it is out of action and full of leaves and mush. No mention of this on the website. The price is still good. But I'm not using HOTWIRE again and will be more cautious with PRICELINE
  4. I recently got this for $48. I was expecting a beach hotel. Surprised this is rated as a 3 star, same as the Hilton on the beachfront. This is a standard Holiday Inn with a small unheated pool. Adequate though. Incidentally, I know this Travelocity's Secret Hotels are not listed on this forum, but the site recently offered me an unnamed 3 star hotel in Fort Lauderdale. After I had paid it turned out to be a 2 star highway La Quinta. Hotwire also recently gave me a 2.5 star hotel in Ft Pierce. It turned out to be a small motel (the Royal) with no amenities - no gym, pool etc. In my experience higher star ratings are increasingly being applied to lower standard hotels on Priceline, Hotwire and Secret Rooms, so beware. This week, there are virtually no great deals to be had on the Florida Coast due to Spring Break
