  4. From my experience, yes. Never accept Priceline's counteroffer (unless, you're out of free rebid zones or desperate for your offer to be accepted immediately). Same winning bid ($130 Four Points Chelsea) as my upcoming weekend trip to NY. Congrats!
  5. Bid other regions 2.5* (MTW, MTE, UEW, UWS, CPS, MSG) up to $135 rejected. Bid 3* Chelsea $110 (PRICELINE countered with $135), then $117, $125 and $130 finally accepted. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $130.00 Subtotal: $130.00 Taxes & Fees: $34.49 Total Charges*: $164.49 Four Points rate for that night is $299, so I'm happy with the result.

  11. Thanks, I love this forum and always use your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to start my bidding.
  12. Started with a 2.5* bid at $65 then increased it with free rebids. I believe it's brand new, just opened in last year. Rate from Wyndham.com is $179.
  13. Checked on HOTWIRE first, it was available for $113 (4* Hotel in Hoboken Jersey City - Hotwire Limited Rate). Hyatt.com rate $219. First bid (using thereuare's PRICELINE link) $75 accepted. Thanks! Note: I tried to extend the stay through Sunday, rejected. Hyatt.com rate goes up to $429 the following day.
  14. Failed bids for SUNY area: 2.5* for $55 and 2* for $45. First bid on the airport zone was $38 for 3*, rejected. Rebid for $45, accepted. Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.75 Total Charges: $58.75 Compare to hotel's "Great Rates" for $99.95 (or $113.94 with tax). Happy with the result, don't really care about * or hotel brand.
  15. Hi, I was browsing for a hotel stay in NYC and found out that Embassy Suites is now being offered as a 4* hotel. 4-star hotel in Downtown - Soho Amenities: Suite, Restaurant, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Center, Laundry $189 per room per night "Best Value" For June 30 - July 1 I didn't book it... still browsing around.
  16. Previous bid of $65 was rejected. Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $75.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.37 Total Charges*: $94.37 If booking with the hotel directly, it's around $152.
  17. Sorry I didn't post this right away. Your Offer Price: $75.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $75.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.30 Total Charges*: $94.30 First bid accepted. Probably overbid, but I was in a hurry. If booking with the hotel directly, it's around $120.
  18. thenewbie, yes I do. I found a Best Western for $127, located between BU & BC. Both are the schools that I will be visiting next week. It's not cheap, but most hotels in Boston (not suburbs) are sold out. BW has the perfect location and a free breakfast, so I decided not to go up higher with Priceline. thereuare, realizing the mistake, I had prepared to lose the whole thing. You're right, as a general rule, we have to understand and agree that Priceline's reservation is non-changable, non-cancelable.
  19. Hi thereuare, here's a new Priceline hotel for you. Next week is a busy week in Boston because there's a SAP convention. I tried 4* up to $100 rejected, 3* failed, 2.5* failed... each as a new bid. Finally, 2* accepted at Holiday Inn Brookline. Your Offer Price: $78.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $78.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.70 Total Charges: $95.70 Then I found out an hour later that it's the wrong date. I will fly overnight, so the date should be 5/17 and not 5/16! I called Priceline and here's what they told me: 1. Try to bid again with the correct date. I can add zone(s) or lower * level. I can raise the $ amount, but can't bid lower than $78. 2. If my bid is accepted, the wrong bid will be refunded in full. 3. If my bid fails, but they can see that at least I try, I will get a refund minus $25 penalty. Well, I bid up to $93 for the correct date and got rejected, so I get a refund of $70.70. Btw, Priceline customer service is pretty good in handling my problem. During phone call, CSR told me he's going to email me a form. Got the form a few mins later. Tried to bid again. Failed. Completed the form to request refund. Got an email approval the next day. Oh yeah, in each email exchange, they emphasize that this is a one time only exception.
  20. Will do! I owe this board several hotel reviews. :) I think hotel rooms are expensive next week because it's close to Boston Marathon's date (April 18).
  21. Bid $72, $82, $92, finally accepted at $102. Your Offer Price: $102.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $102.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $21.13 Total Charges: $123.13
  22. My bid was accepted at first try. No free re-bid, although we can start a completely new bid at another city, Dubois (40 miles away) with a Holiday Inn. Your Offer Price: $45.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $45.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.77 Total Charges: $56.77 Ah, another typo. It's nowhere near Philadelphia. Location should be Clarion, PA. My apologize.
  23. Your Offer Price: $33.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $33.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.10 Total Charges: $44.10 Sorry the title is wrong. It should be $33.
