  1. My sister and I booked each booked a room. I could not find anything in this price range for April 14-20 in Arlington and Crystal City and guessed this was Sheraton Suites - Old town Alexandria and at $69 for 6 nights it seemed to be a great deal. I used the HOTWIRE link on Better Bidding. Amenities: Suite Fitness center Business center Airport shuttle pool Laundry facilties - self service smoke free room Restaurant High Speed internet tennis nearby P.S. My sister booked a 3.5* for the 13th April (day before) for earlier arrival and got Hilton Mark Alexandria on Hotwire. Hotwire Hotel lists on Better Bidding show this as 3*.
  2. I contacted Priceline customer service and they called the hotel and the reservations supervisor said they did not plan to move us. She also wanted to know who it was my wife and the other people spoke with, but we did not have a name. I emailed the hotel just to get that in writing and the hotel reservations supervisor said they did not anticipate moving Priceline guests, but guests are "walked" to other hotels from time to time when situations arise. She said a note adressing our concerns would be placed on my reservation and two other people with Priceline reservations that I discussed with her. I will reply again after the stay to let you know how it went.
  3. I have emailed Priceline and am awaiting their reply on their policy of moving guests outside bidded areas and into lower star level hotels. When you say I should ask for compensation from the hotel if this occurs, what exactly would you ask for?
  4. My wife called the hotel and they are booked solid. Without mentioning we had a priceline reservation, she inquired about priceline and they told her that they "may" move priceline customers to their Aloft Hotel in Homewood (4.3 miles away) but a 3 star property according to Priceline. We bid 3.5 star in central Birmingham because we knew if accepted it would be at the Sheraton where the dance competition is. Staying 4 miles away is inconvenient if you plan to use the room for dressing/ rest during the day. I have a back up reservation at the Sheraton, but I don't want to lose my money with Priceline or get stuck somewhere else.
  5. Also would the hotel have to inform you prior to arrival that they are not honoring the Priceline reservation or can they just tell you at check-in that they have no room for you?
  6. I bid on a 3 1/2 star hotel in Birmingham Alabama and got the Sheraton Birmingham in Central Birmingham. There is a Dance competition there for the stay we have (reason why I bid there) and some mothers at my daughter's Dance studio were told my wife that the hotel is near full occupancy and the hotel said they will not be honoring Priceline reservations. They said that the hotel would place Priceline customers in another hotel, but there is not another 3.5 star hotel in central Birmingham. I have not spoken to the hotel because that would seem to invite trouble. Can they put me in another hotel outside the area I bid in? Birmingham only has two 3.5 star hotels. One in central Birmingham and one in Inverness by checking the bidding areas.
  7. I have been bidding for the last several weeks up $75 for a 3.5* hotel in Central Birmingham with no success. Today I started at $60 and was accepted for Sheraton Birmingham -- where I wanted to stay. 2 nights - $148.64 best available rate is $159/ night not including 17.5% tax. I emailed the hotel and requested 2 beds and they added the request to the hotel reservation.
  8. Went back to email confirmation of 1st reservation and it did have laundry icon listed.
  9. July 25-26 2011 Hotwire 3* South Baton Rouge Pool, breakfast, gym, internet, business center, no smoking $70 -- total of $84.72 La Quinta Inn Denham Springs booked for 2 adults and 2 children hotel check in 1pm We went to Baton Rouge from Alabama to go to the Blue Bayou water park and it was raining. Called the Hotel to see if we could check in early at 12:30 pm. La Quinta informed me that Hotwire booked out family of 4 with a single KING bed and they could not change the reservation. I called Hotwire and they called the Hotel while I was on hold. They then told me that they would have to cancel my reservation, but they could not refund me and I would have to book another hotel. I told them I would just like to be refunded but if I can't then I wanted a 3* hotel in South Baton Rouge and they said they could get me one for $94.71 and they had to charge my card and refund the difference later. They booked me AGAIN into the La Quinta Denham Springs and I told them that this was the hotel that they booked our family into a single KING. When I questioned them on whether or not we will have two beds and the agent became confused and had to speak to a supervisor. When he came back on, he said they would refund both charges of $84.72 and $94.71, but it may take several days. WE got a room on our own at Courtyard by Marriott Segen Lane with a Blue Bayou park rate of $89/ night and I do not think I will use Hotwire again. Lets see if my refunds get screwed up.
  10. It drops to $66 for a stay 5/31 to 6/5 , BUT when you add any children or another adult to this hotel stay, it is no longer offered. Does this mean they only have King size beds?
