  1. I wanted to try a different way of bidding, so I bid the night before my planned vacation. I was pretty happy with the results. I also managed to bargin my way into a better room. My bids...
  2. I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress (Feb 17 - Feb 19). These were my bids... - $80 Rebid... - $92 Rebid... - $101 Rebid... - $110 Rebid... - $115 Rebid... - $119 Rebid... - $125 Rebid... - $129 Rebid... - $130 Accepted! I think $130 is the most I ever paid, per night, using Priceline. I thought I'd try something different and book the hotel for the same night I'd be there. Price-wise $130 isn't bad, the rooms were going for $300/night that weekend. I was also able to upgrade the room by small-talking it with the chick at the desk. Overall, the hotel was very nice and I'd probably stay there again.
  3. As I promised, here's my review of the Wyndham Palace... Much like the pictures showed, the exterior was very nice. The woman at the desk was nice and I was able to talk her into moving my room from the 5th to the 18th floor, since I thought it would be a better view. The rooms were just like most of the reviews said. They are in desperate need of attention. The carpet was lifted and wrinkled, which I actually tripped over. The ceilings had water and rust stains on them. They also has spots where they were patched but the "popcorn" was never replaced. There were several holes and chunks missing on the walls, some patched, but not painted. The beds, though stated as a "queen size" were smaller than a normal queen. The comforters were stained, one with what appeared to be blood and the other with a crusty white substance. The sheets were tattered and torn. The bathrooms, however, were fine, with the exception of a VERY slow drain. I noticed some of the black mold on the ceilings that so many people complained about, but nothing to be too concerned about. The hotel also hosted two high school proms on Saturday night. There were dozens of drunk high schoolers roaming the hotel and parking lots. Someone kicked a hole in the wall, in the hallway, outside their room. There's nothing I can do about that, but it was somewhat of a annoyance. Overall, the Wyndham Palace is a far cry from the "resort" level, but was fine for the price I paid. I would never pay their asking price, and would possibly stay there again, but it would probably be my last choice out of the resorts listed through Priceline.com. *Since seeing is believing, I took pictures of some of the things I wrote about in my review. I dont know how to post pictures on here, but can e-mail them, if anyone would like to see the problems that I spoke of.
  4. Cityfishing, I'll be staying at the Wyndham the same weekend as you. After reading numerous negative reviews, I feel that we will be in for a real treat! Look for me arguing at the front desk, 3:00 April 15th! :)
  5. 72 hours later... $70 - Disney World Vicinity = REJECTED $74 - Florida Mall = REJECTED $80 - Kissimmee = REJECTED $85 - Maitland = ACCEPTED I won't repeat my first thoughts, when I saw "WYNDHAM PALACE." I was dissapointed to say the least. The price isn't so bad, compared to the reviews I've read... and I quote "its a hotel on the outside, but a motel on the inside." My only problem now is hoping that I can fit 8 adults, comfortably, in 2 rooms. I'll post my review of the hotel, upon my return.
  6. That hotel is amazing! I stayed there about a year ago. You got a great deal at $85/night. There is a daily resort fee of $10 and a daily parking fee of $7 for self-parking or $14 for valet... sometimes people don't know about that. If you haven't stayed there before, you'll be thoroughly impressed! I've been trying to get it again, through Priceline, since the last time I stayed... but always end up with the Hilton, which is a far cry from the Gaylord Palms... Hope you enjoy your stay!
  7. I did also check for rooms on Hotwire, but I felt they were somewhat expensive as well. I checked to see if anything was going on in Orlando, during my planned weekend but found very little. With the exception of the International Flower Show and Davy Jones performing in Epcot, I can't see any reason (other than a mix between the time of year and maybe some bad luck) why rates are so unusually high. I'll post my results on Wednesday, when I rebid.
  8. Yes, I was looking for something at the resort level.
  9. I'm trying to get 2 rooms for 2 nights (4/15 - 4/17) in an Orlando resort but so far have failed. Here are my bids... $55 - Walt Disney World Vicinity = REJECTED $58 - Florida Mall = REJECTED $61 - Kissimmee = REJECTED $65 - Maitland = REJECTED $78 - Orlando Airport = REJECTED $85 - Downtown Orlando = REJECTED $103 - Orlando (Winterpark) = REJECTED $110 - West Disney Area = REJECTED Those numbers seem very high to me. I am going to wait and try again in a couple days. Any suggestions?
  10. February 13 - 15 - $55 (WDW Area) - $67 (added Kissimmee) - $75 (added Florida Mall) WDW Hilton accepted :) This was my least desired resort, out of the 6 offered. I was going after the Dolphin, Swan, or Gaylord Palms, which I know hit up in the $80s. According to the going rates, its still a 47% discount. Not too shabby...
