  1. Colfax - I arrive at 3pm on Saturday and depart at 9am on Sunday...I'd like to do Fisherman's Wharf and at elast see Alcatraz (no tour necessary) and the Golden Gate Bridge while we're there. We figure we'll check into the hotel with our luggage and will stay in a hotel near the airport then go out to sightsee from about 5pm-11:30pm...short time frame but we'd like to see as much as possible and snap a few pictures.
  2. Does your rental include the cost for an additional spouse as a driver? Or is this an extra?
  3. I'd like to get something around the $45-$60 range since it's only for a short layover...we just need a place to crash. We'll most likely visit the Fisherman's Wharf and Golden Gate Bridge..which of these areas is in the location of these touristy places? Any other recommendations?
  4. I'm flying into San Francisco and will only be there for one night. How do I figure out which area I want to bid in? I want soemthing close to the airport so do I bid in SFO Airport - Burlingame? Basically I'm just wondering if SFO North -San Bruno is another area close to teh airport? I want to keep the taxi ride cheap. Which area is closer? Thanks.
  5. If I bid on PRICELINE, does the car rental only include one driver? How much is it (roughly) to add on a second driver? I currently have a regular reservation for a vehicle for $267 that includes 2 drivers but if I bid on PRICELINE, the going rate for this vehicle is $215 taxes included but if it's going to cost me another $50 to add a second driver it's not worth the hassle. Can someone confirm that PRICELINE only accounts for one driver? Thanks! I'm looking or a vehicle in Maui.
  6. I was one of the winners of those bids...I didn't do anything special..I selected only the Wailea area, clicked on resort (and nothing lower) and put in my bid of $86 + $7.50 bonus bucks and won it on the first shot. No fancy tricks used here :) Good luck!
  7. That's funny...I added in the title but for some reason it comes in as ??? Weird...in any case, the dates are July 14-18.
  8. I bid $86 + $7.50 in bonus cash I've been looking for a hotel FOREVER within this price range...I was scared to bid through Priceline because I was going to have to bump it down to a 3* for the price and I DIDN'T want to get an ASTON hotel. So when I saw others were winning this, it's a phenominal price!! Even with the $25 resort fee, it's still a great deal!!! Woot!!!! What a way to end our vacation!!
  9. Not sure why you asked me to click the link? I thought you only had to click that link when placing a bid?? Either way, did it :)
  10. I'm going to bid on a hotel in the Wailea area. I'm looking for a 3.5* or up. They have the following hotels posted on their website if I were to purchase the room for their suggested prices (prices listed in brackets): 3.5 star - Hotel Wailea ($229) 4 star - Makena Beach & Golf Resort ($249) 4 star - Wailea Beach Billas ($1040) Now the resorts are a higher rate per night on their website ...they start at $350 and go up. So, based on this (and I know it's not a guranteed thing), I would assume by bidding on a 3.5 star in teh Wailea area I will get either the Hotel Wailea or the Makena Beach & Golf Resort since they're both near the same price point. I think I would really like the Makena Beach & Golf Resort so I'd put my first bid in on a 4* hotel to eliminate the Hotel Wailea. But what would you suggest as my bidding strategy? I got this priceline win at the Hyatt Waikiki for $105/night so I'd like to try to stay around this price point with $115/nt being my max. I am travelling July 14-18th so I have enough time to start low and go up from there with the 24 hour wait period. If I can't get the 4* I would eventually go down to a 3.5* because the Hotel Wailea has great reviews as well. Suggestions? Thanks!
  11. I'm flying into Honolulu Airport but am not going to rent a car until 2 days later. I'm staying in a hotel on Waikiki beach. By booking through PRICELINE, it looks like the only rentals are available at the airport. Does anybody know if the airport rental companies will pick you up in Waikiki or what is the cheapest mode of transportation to get out to the airport from Waikiki beach? Thanks!
  12. Just won my bid for a resort at the Hyatt Regency on Waikiki Beach for $105/night :-) From all of the reviews on this hotel and after Google mapping it, I'm extremely pleased with this win! :-)
  13. First Bid of $80 rejected Added a rebid zone & $85 rejected Tried the next day with $87 WON!!! So I'm booked in for 2 nights! I'm excited about this hotel...I really wanted to get this hotel AND I used the PRICELINE link on this forum!! :)
  14. Also, when you're bidding, if your first bid is rejected and you add a rebid zone, do you have to increase your bid or can you bid the same amount and if you rebid how much do you generally go up in increments? $5?
  15. I'm going to bid on a resort on the Big Island and am thinking the "Waikoloa-Kohala Coast" area. In a 24-hour period, can I only place one bid and if it is rejected I can only add Hilo to the zone and bid once more? I've done my research on this forum and it looks like the winning hotels for the Waikoloa-Kohala Coast resorts go between the $75 - $100 range and mostly (although I know it's not guaranteed) the Hapuna Beach Prince Resort and the Resort Marriott Waikoloa Beach are won. Based on this info, what bid would you start at and what would your rebid be? I have $10/night in bonus bucks too. Thanks.
  16. How do you "ask" politely for an upgrade without having to pay a fee?
  17. I realize there is no 100% guarantee of getting a particular hotel, however, after doing some research on here and on priceline, is it fair to say that if I look to book a 3.5 star hotel in the Waikiki City Central Area that I will most likely get the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio hotel? I looked in the listing of hotels and in this area, the only two listed as a 3.5 star hotel is the Hilton and the Courtyard Marriott, however, if I were to book directly with the hotel the Marriott is cheaper than the Hilton by about $50 per night, but it has not been won recently (in the last 2 years). It would make sense that if the Marriott is still in the running on "Name your price" then it would be the hotel people would be winning over the Hilton most often, but that's not the case. Can someone verify my thought process? lol We're staying at soem resorts too (have to bid on them) but in order to keep to our budget, we have to stay in a 3.5 star for a bit...judging from this website and a few other hotel review forums, this 3.5 is a very decent hotel. Also, how do you politely ask for an upgrade..while hoping not to get charged? I have a Hilton Honors card and I just stayed in 2 Hiltons recently (last week). I want to stick to my budget..an upgrade would be nice but I don't want to pay anything additional for it..lol I know all hotels don't give any upgrades, and some don't give it if you go through priceline. Thanks again.
  18. Bid $77 for a 3.5* in Ottawa and got the Crowne Plaza...3rd bid, 2 re-zones.
  19. My very first time bidding!!! I'm so excited Zone #5 + $70 bid - Rejected Zone #5 + $73 bid - Rejected Zone #3 + #5 + $75 bid - ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!! Hilton Toronto on Richmond Street West...anybody haev any idea if this is a nice hotel? I just checked the website and it's retailing for $288 (taxes included) for this same time period so my $92 (taxes included) isn't too shabby!! Thanks Priceline and to this website for all your help!!
  20. I need help to identify a 4* in the Toronto West area. I'm booking for this Saturday (April 24th). The hotel is listed for $86 and has the following amenities: - Non-smoking - Fitness - Pool - Restaurant - Business Centre - High speed internet And I have the option to reserve my bed on the next page. Any ideas? I'm new to this and am looking for assistance (I'm nervous..lol) Thanks!
  21. I'm bidding on a resort stay. One Zone (Zone 7) + $80 + $10 Bonus Cash = $90 bid Two Zones (Zone 7 + Zone 8) + $82 + $10 Bonus Cash = $92 bid Three Zones (Zone 7 + Zone 8 + Zone 1) + $84 + $10 Bonus Cash = $94 bid Four Zones (Zone 7 + Zone 6 + Zone 1 + Zone 2)+ $86 + $10 Bonus Cash = $96 bid Zone 1 - Diamond Head Zone 2 - Executive Center Zone 6 - Waianie Zone 7 - Waikiki Beach Zone 8 - Waikiki City Central
  22. So, I've made a few bids tonight, all of which were rejected: One Zone + $80 + $10 Bonus Cash = $90 bid Two Zones + $82 + $10 Bonus Cash = $92 bid Three Zones + $84 + $10 Bonus Cash = $94 bid Four Zones + $86 + $10 Bonus Cash = $96 bid The additional two zones that I chose do not have resorts in them. Any suggestions on what I should bid? Is there something I'm doing wrong??? My dates are July 04th - July 09th. Anybody know if any of these three resorts in Waikiki charge resort fees: Hyatt, Sheraton, or Marriott
  23. Hi, I'm looking to get a hotel from July 04 - July 10th in Honolulu, preferably something near/on Waikiki beach. The max that I want to bid is $100. Can you give me some pointers (i.e. price to start with, etc.)? Thanks.
  24. I'm looking to traevl to Ottawa, Ontario (Section #3 on the map) and stay April 26 - April 28th (2 nights). I'm looking for either a 4* and would like to pay no more than $85 per room (..taxes not included in this price) or a 3.5* and would like to pay no more than $70 per room. I also have $5 in Bonus Bucks to add towards my purchase. Thansk for your help in advance...any strategies greatly accepted!!
