  1. Yeah I know it's not a great price! But the availability for that night was really tight all over the city, I'm guessing it's because the National Restaurant Show begins that Monday. We are happy with the hotel and it's still less than some other sites.

    Bid history was as follows:

    accessed priceline from savingsbarn.com

    Bid $160 on 4* NMA - failed

Bid $175 on 4* NMA + rebid zone of Midway Airport - failed

    waited 24 hours

    reaccessed priceline from savingsbarn.com

    Bid $202 on 4* NMA - failed

Bid $226 on 4* NMA + Midway rebid zone - success!

I noticed some older posts that refer to 2 rebid zones when bidding on 4* NMA's... I could not confirm this when I checked, did something change recently?

Thanks for all the great info!

  2. Made some rebids for 7/15-7/20 with the help of some friends, their Priceline accounts, and their computers. These are all 4* bids:

    on computer 2:

bid $75 on MTE - rejected

bid $99 on MTE + MTW - rejected

    on computer 3:

bid $101 on MTE - rejected

bid $110 on MTE + MTW

    got Waldorf Astoria

$550 + $95 in tax and service fees

Rebids were done from different computers but using the same credit card info. Thanks for all the help, we did go thru the SavingsBarn.

  3. Can you guys tell me if the hotel that priceline calls the NY Hilton & Towers is the Hilton Times Square at 234 W 42nd or the Hilton New York at 1335 Ave of the Americas? No one else seems to call it the NY Hilton & Towers.

Also, do you have any advice on when i should start bidding for my 7/15-7/20 trip. I wanted the Westin Times Square off Hotwire but I think I missed it as it's not showing up anymore. So I'm willing to take any of the 4*'s from priceline, I would like to keep the bid below $120. Given the bad reviews I want the NY Hilton & Towers the least but I realize it's likely I'll get it and I'm sure I'll be happy with the location if nothing else.

Being as close as possible to the Port Authority Bus Terminal is my biggest priority as I'll need to go to NJ 3 nights during my stay, having a 4* is priority 2 and price is priority 3.

    thanks!

  4. I'm still monitoring the 4.5* Times Sq price on HW for my 7/15-7/20 dates. I noticed this morning it's at $306! So I checked the westinny website and got a price of $185. For the hell of it I also checked the Le Parker Meridien website (which has the same amedities) and it's also $185.

I almost feel like booking the 306 price and then taking HW up on their Double the Difference price guarantee offer. Of course there could still be a hotel worth this much in this area that I'm missing.

On another note, am I more likely not to get the NY Hilton & Towers on PL if I were to bid $110 for example as opposed to low-balling at $88 or $93?

  5. Hello, i just found this board last week and have been reading through it ever since. Anyway, I'm also interested in the Westin Times Square and I'm looking at 7/15-7/20. Thanks to a lot of the bad reviews I've read about the nearby Hilton and Towers I'm pretty sure I'm going to avoid a PL bid and just go with HW and hope that this 4.5 star hotel is indeed the westin. Anyway, I wanted to chime in and ask you to please post if you got this hotel from HW as I will be buying in the next couple of days.

Also, I have been checking it's price since the weekend (about 4-5 times per day) and I have seen it vary between $129-$143 for my dates. It seems that the rate is much higher during the business day than at night.

    Thanks and good luck!

    jim
