  1. May 7-May 8 Red Roof Inn Champaign - $51 Amenities: Internet Access I arrogantly thought I'd get the La Quinta, and ended up getting it anyway (rack rate) because I just didn't want to stay at a Red Roof Inn (snob). I deserved it!
  2. Oops, yes, customer favorite. I was very confident that I'd get the Sheraton from reading this board, and it looks like a decent place. It had been listed last week but then on Saturday it was gone (I believe the Doral Eaglewood was on there instead) and I was disappointed about missing my chance at a suite, but fine with trying the Eaglewood because it looks really nice, I had just been looking forward to the extra room. Then, yesterday after midnight my dates were confirmed for this weekend, so I went to make the reservation. Lo and behold, the suite listing was back up for Sheraton. I think I'm addicted to Hotwire and Priceline. :)
  3. Sheraton Suites, $44 a night. Suite, restaurant, pool, fitness, golf nearby, business, laundry. I'll post a review when I get back!
  4. I stayed here 1/21-1/23 for $34 a night on Priceline. I realized the reason for the low price when I walked in- lots of construction/renovation going on! At check-in, I received a piece of paper detailing the renovations. The Water's Edge restaurant, the casual dining area, is closed. Piazza restaurant is serving a limited menu and buffet, but we didn't try it- it didn't look like our style. Room service is available (which we did try, I'll detail it below) and the fitness center and pool sound great, we just never went to see it. The hotel is pleasant looking (it would probably be beautiful when its not winter and the walking trails are open) and I really found the staff to be great. There was no mention of Priceline and I got a king bed as requested. There was a huge snowstorm and we couldn't really get out of the parking lot very easily, so we ordered room service for breakfast and for dinner on Saturday. Breakfast was excellent and came in 30 minutes. The menu was basic but had variety, which is great for a basic food eater like myself. I had the french toast and ham, and for dinner, which also came in 30 minutes, I had spaghetti with meatballs and my boyfriend had a burger and a Caesar salad. It was absolutely adorable how the trays were set up. We didn't want housekeeping on Saturday, and no one ever bothered us about it, which I appreciate. All in all, I'd rather stay in a more accessible place (its kind of hard to get in and out of, especially in this weather) but for the price, and because of the service, I have good feelings for this hotel and I'd recommend it.
  5. Bid for $34 Oak Brook accepted immediately. Can't find many reactions to this hotel on the internet, any information would be appreciated! It doesn't look bad, and the parking is free. :)
  6. I just started posting here. I use Hotwire and Priceline a LOT because I often need to stay in hotels for the weekend in the Chicago area. I thought I could post my history for anyone's information, along with brief reactions to each hotel- - Oct 22-24. Hyatt Regency O'Hare. 4 stars. Airport Shuttle, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Business. $69 a night. I was kind of a novice at this point. The hotel was fine, even though the expensive parking was a hassle getting in and out and the vinelike decorations were completely hideous. Nice balcony in our room, however. - Nov 5-7. Hyatt Regency Woodfield. 4 stars. Restaurant, pool, fitness. $46 a night. Much better value for the price. Similar to O'Hare in amenities but the parking was free! Not very memorable, but I wouldn't mind staying here again. - Nov 12-14. Radisson Schaumburg. 4 stars. Restaurant, pool, fitness. $46 a night. I was FOOLED, I thought I'd get the Hyatt again. This in no way shape or form is a 4 star hotel. 3 star, fine. But 4 star is a joke. I emailed Hotwire angrily but they didn't care. It's not that the place was seedy- well- yes, it was, if you're expecting a place comparable to the Hyatts and Hiltons usually in this category. Service was slow, room was ugly, building even uglier. Free parking, at least, or else I would have left. - Dec 3-5. Embassy Suites Lombard-Oak Brook. 3.5 stars. Suite, restaurant, pool, fitness, business. $55 a night. WELL worth the price. I absolutely loved it here. It's so much better than Hyatts or Hiltons, in my honest opinion. I like the atrium set-up, the breakfast is satisfactory, and they gave me a corner suite that was ENORMOUS. We could have had a huge party with the space we had. There were helpful tips about ordering pizza, local restaurants, etc in the room. Little things that you have to pay for at other places were free. Easy to find and great location. - Dec 12-13. Wyndham Chicago (Wacker category). 4 stars. Fitness, business. $83 a night. I didn't like the atmosphere here. The staff was snobby. It took them forever to check me in because I had made the reservation that same day. I was just there one night and can't really make a thorough stand on it as a whole. I made my most recent purchase on Priceline, so I'll post that one over there. (It's for this weekend coming up.) Hope this helped someone out!
