  1. Ok, got it on the different star rating. My question was primarily regarding the hotel names.3.5* Bourbon Orleans a Wyndham Hotel <--Bourbon Orleans is not a Wyndham Hotel 3* Chateau Bourbon <-- this one is a Wyndham Hotel Of course! I used PRICELINE and got 3.5* Astor Crowne Plaza for $130 and 3* Holiday Inn French Quarter for $45. HOTWIRE had these for $144 and $59, respectively. I will include details in my posts for each win.I checked the Astor Crowne Plaza direct site, and they charge an extra $20 each for the 3rd and 4th person. Hotwire's $144 price was specifically for 4 guests/room, but Priceline doesn't allow me to indicate number of guests. Did I make a mistake in booking Astor Crowne Plaza on PRICELINE? Would I need to pay $40 on top of my Priceline $130 rate? :)
  2. I'm trying to book 2 rooms: 5/14/10 - 5/16/10 (2 nights) for 4 people 5/14/10 - 5/17/10 (3 nights) for 4 people Ideally, both rooms would be in the same hotel the first 2 nights. I tried to use Priceline to get 3.5* hotels for close to $100 but had no luck for any combination of these dates. My last several bids were not accepted: 5/14-5/16 $70-85 5/14-5/17 $75-95 5/14-5/16 $90-105 5/14-5/16 $100-120 Using Hotwire 3.5* for $144 as a reference price, I figure that I may need to bid up to $140 to get a 3.5* hotel in French Quarter. Are 3* hotels safe and clean in this area? Our group is all-female, and we're more concerned about safety and cleanliness so if we have to pay $144, then we will. Does anyone have suggestions for getting $100-120? Thanks in advance!
  3. In the Priceline Hotel List there seems to be a name switch - shouldn't Bourbon Orleans (non-Wyndham) be 3* and Chateau Bourbon a Wyndham Hotel be 3.5*?
  4. I thought it would be safer to use Hotwire. When searching 5/14-5/16 (2 rooms): 3.5* $144 - fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry Astor Crowne Plaza? 3* $103 - boutique, pool, restaurant, laundry, internet Holiday Inn Chateau Lemoyne? When searching 5/16-5/17: 3* $59 - pool, restaurant, laundry, internet Holiday Inn French Quarter? When searching 5/14-5/17: 3.5* $145 - fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry Astor Crowne Plaza? 3* $94 - boutique, pool, restaurant, laundry, internet Holiday Inn Chateau Lemoyne? Would someone confirm or correct me on these hotels? Also, would anyone know the difference between the Holiday Inn Chateau Leymone and Holiday Inn French Quarter? Thanks in advance!
  5. I used this PRICELINE link for my bid. My actual travel dates in DC are Tue 4/6/10 to Fri 4/9/10, and I split up my travel dates to book Thu 4/8/10 separately. Refer to this 4* DC post for bid on previous dates. 4/8/10-4/9/10 (1 night) Bid $75 on Dupont Circle 3.5* was rejected. Re-bid $85 by adding DC Suburbs was rejected. Re-bid $95 by adding Mount Vernon was ACCEPTED - MARRIOTT WARDMAN PARK (near metro) :) Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $95.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $95.00 Taxes and Fees: $21.08 Total Room Cost: $116.08 Thanks, betterbidding.com!
  6. I used this PRICELINE link for my bid. This was a long process with re-bidding and waiting 24 hours. My actual travel dates in DC are Tue 4/6/10 to Fri 4/9/10. I've been looking into Dupont Circle, and the HOTWIRE rate has been $159 for these dates. I don't want to spend much more than $100/night, and each of my bids was rejected. :) (I kept track of each rejected bid and re-bid so let me know if you want me to list them.) Seeing a Hotwire - Washington, DC post by a member that got 4* Hotel Palomar for $113, I looked into splitting up my travel dates since PRICELINE sometimes offers extensions. 4/6/10-4/8/10 Bid $80 on Dupont Circle 4* was rejected. Re-bid $90 by adding Mount Vernon was rejected. Re-bid $100 by adding DC Suburbs was ACCEPTED - HOTEL PALOMAR :) Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $100.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $200.00 Taxes and Fees: $36.98 Total Room Cost: $236.98 PRICELINE offered to extend my stay so I tried to extend check-out date to Fri 4/9/10 for the same rate. The $100 rate wasn't available, and the best extension offer was $212 or about $250 after taxes and fees. I chose not to extend at $212 and tried to bid on 3.5* (detailed in my next priceline winning bid post). Thanks, betterbidding.com!
  7. I'm posting a previous bid before I discovered betterbidding.com to contribute to the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. First bid accepted: $80 for 5/1/09-5/3/09 (2 nights) No re-bids needed. When I checked in, I was offered a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room, which was spacious. My friends had gotten the 4.5* InterContinental via Hotwire for earlier dates, and their bathroom was so cramped. I'm not sure if Sheraton upgraded my room to due to availability or due to my Visa Signature card, but I was happy with the room size, walking area, and bathroom size. I am using betterbidding.com to help me get hotels for Washington DC in early April and New Orleans in mid-May and will post after offer has been accepted.
  8. Thank you very much for sharing your success. I've been looking into 4/6/10 - 4/9/10 for Dupont Circle, and the Hotwire price has been $159/night. I just looked at 4/6/10 - 4/8/10, and the $113/night price is still there. I guess Thurs 4/8/10 night is the most expensive, and I'll have to split up my bids. I'll update later after I've successfully booked. Suggestions are welcome.
