  1. My friend.. I started with the 1st bid at $100 and was rejected and than I went to $115 on the 2nd bid and got it.. I had a large increment for this will be a business trip and my company will pay for it.. If it was coming from my own pocket I would use increments of $5-$10..
  2. You are correct but still Loews is a nice place and actually any location in Cornorado is great and you got a good price. The hotel is lover on the penensula (south of the Cornorado downtown) in the narrow strip where there is not much around except for the bay and across the street, the beach.
  3. again, if you can afford it try to get a 4*.. 3* are usually run of the mill places. But again, if you are fine with that standard that all the power to you.. But regardless you will need to hit the location I responded earlier..
  4. Not sure if you been in SD but the first thing is that you will need a car for there are a lot of points of interest in the San Diego area that you should visit (La Jolla where the seals hang out and great shops and parks, to the balboa park (hugh park once an exposition and where the zoo resides) to Coronado island. If you want peace and a beat scene, I would stay in Coronado but the mission bay is nice along with the La Jolla area. Basically, any location is fine in SD just try to get a 4* if the price is right. Here are some of the choices: Coronado Island: Any location is a winner here. Mission bay: There is the Hyatt and the Hilton that is fair. BTW, why do you want to stay close to the airport with all the noise.. Usually any location by the airport is trashy...
  5. Scorp is correct for I do live in San Jose.. If I had to stay in the DT area, I would stay at the Fairmont or the Hilton, they are 2 blocks away from each other. Be warned, SJ is not the hippest area.. Its pretty much dead on the weekdays and there are some locations that you can hang out and live it up.. The area is pretty safe, not like LA (I also lived in tthat area). You can pretty much walk around in the DT area in SJ..
  6. :) Got this for $90.. Started at $70 and with only 2 rebids in locations with NO 4* and with increments of $10, final price was $90. I bet if I had increments of $5 it could same me some $$ but I satisfied..
  7. thanks and u r right.. all i needed to do is go 1 step further in PL to figure it out..
  8. I am a user of PL but I had a question and hope some one who knows respond. The situation is that my parents like to stay in S Diego and they do not use PL. Can I pay for the hotel and put their names down as the guest, where all they need to do is arrive and do not need to worry about anything? I am afraid if I win teh bid, it will be under my name and the hotel will not recognize my parents. Basically I am trying to bid for my parents.. Thanks in advance.
  9. Thanks buddy, I just got the same info from a local on another site and they live in the area. They mention that Lompoc's nicest hotal was the Embassy.. We had a family vacation last summer at Jamal beach (Lompoc) and I had to say that was the nicest beach camping I have been on. But I sure you know that living in that area. What was nice about the location was that the camp site is right on the beach and there is nothing around for 5-10 miles, except for the HWY1 and the RR track. The nights were crystal clear and the sunset were picture perfect, who needs Hawaii (west side). The mornings were again something you only dream when you wake up for we had the offshore winds in the AM blowing off the overcast.
  10. Wondering if anyone knows what is the 3* in Lompoc. Apparently the 3* is the highest rating in the whole area from San Luis to Solvang)..
  11. I really do not like the parking fees that they have in San Diego.. If you are nice at the front desk and kinda question the parking fee and act ignornant. They might waive it, you never know unles you try.. Have fun in San Diego for we always do..
  12. let me know how the stay was and any general tips.. I really like the north area especially the open mall that faces the downtown area, very tranquil and nice. I never stayed at the marriott but past it last time told myself the next time we are down there to stay here.
  13. Accoding to the hotel list in PL, there are NO 3.5* in mission bay area, but with this said I will take a poke on the hotel.. In HW, a 3.5 will be the Hyatt Islandia right by the harbor and the price seems to be inline.. The Hyatt is not a 4* and maybe the PL folks finally change it to a 3.5*. There are 2 buildings in the Hyatt: 1. 2 level section areound the prameter of the resort, which is not too nice and the main building that is X high that is decent. Most likey you will get the section with 2 stoies and if you do choose and not like it, you can always upgrade to a better room this there are vacancy. 2. The main building that has a good vire of the harbor and or the sea. The resort has a nice pool but there are NO beaches. The nearest beach is ~1 mile away and its more like a cove with little to no waves. The location is right in mission bay and near sea world. They did not use to charge for self parking but a little sweet talk can get you away from this fee. For the $$, I will recommend this pace but do not expect too much from it but who am I to say for I do not know your taste.
  14. Tried starting the bid at $70 and rebid using different zones with $5 and $10 increments. Final got what I wanted in Coronado (Marriott) for $190 wit the reg price for $275.. I recommend the San Diego area for it use to be my back yard (so to say) until I moved to the bay area. The family and I visit the area at least once per year and the last time we were there we stated that we wanted to stay at the Marriott resort in Coronado. Best of luch and hope this helps..
