Started out trying for the Hyatt and got as high as $160 with no success. It seemed a little inflated, so I tried for the Sheraton instead and got it on the first shot. According to their website, construction should be complete by January.
Just had a bid accepted. Posted it under a new topic.
Previous bids of $65 and $70 were rejected.
Thanks for the tips. I've been bidding in just Fishkill since I still have a few days and would rather stay there. I'm using the Hotwire as my benchmark as well - but like you said I'd rather stay in the Priceline hotel which looks like it's probably a Marriott family hotel, as opposed to the Hotwire which looks like it is probably a Holiday Inn Express.
Got rejected once again today at $69.
As for maximum bid, I'm not exactly sure yet. I'd like to keep it below $80 a night though.
9/2/11 to 9/4/11 Rejected at $65. Will try again tomorrow.
I first tried at $40 and was rejected. I retried at $50, was rejected again but given a chance by Priceline to bid again at $60 without changing any options. Success!
I was originally bidding for only Saturday and Sunday nights (2/13 and 2/14), and got as high as $90 without my bid being accepted.
Then I added Friday night but decreased my bid to $65, and it was accepted. Considering that the total cost was only $10 more than what I was offering for two nights, it looks like the Hyatt wants you to book the whole long weekend or nothing at all.
3.5* Maui (Wailea - Makena) Makena Beach And Golf Resort
in Priceline Hotels - Hawaii

Was hoping for a little cheaper and tried for a couple of weeks inching up, but it's the peak season. For those looking in Wailea-Makena, Hotwire is good to compare to as it also has the Makena listed at 3.5* so you can set an upper bound.
