  1. Thanks. I guessed it was the Knickerbocker Hotel, which is retailing at just more than $300 (which didn't seem too far off from the $249 Express rate). The amenity set didn't match perfectly, but I figured that was something that could have changed. (My bad!) I'll turn here for help in the future if I decide to do PRICELINE again. I'm just frustrated at Priceline's decision to upgrade the hotel with no discernible reason (no renovation to the property, etc.) Thanks.
  2. Priceline Express deal. I'm honestly kind of disappointed in this result. This property was previously classified by Priceline as a 4.5* hotel, and from the reviews and pictures that sounds about right, if not too high; Intercontinental Times Square does not compare to the other hotels Priceline has called five-stars in this area (Knickerbocker and Chatwal). I also had technical difficulties trying to use the name-your-own-price feature, which Priceline apparently is phasing out. I gave up and used Priceline Express. The overall experience definitely has me questioning using Priceline in the future.
  3. Amenities = Free Internet, Free Parking, Free Breakfast I used the 5% off coupon from Better Bidding to save a little more. Colorado Springs hotels seem to be pretty pricey, at least in the summer, so in all this was a great deal for Tripadvisor's #5 hotel (out of 120) in the area! I use betterbidding every time I book a hotel. Thanks for all your help.
  4. Purchased the room with Priceline Express Bidding (using a 10% off coupon we received for buying a hotel in Tucson a few weeks ago). I started my bidding at $100 per night and used the free re-bids to try to win a night at $110, $120, $130, $140 and $150 before switching to the express bidding. I hear the rooms are pretty small but it's a good price for a hotel right in the center of everything.
  5. Amenities listed were Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, and High-Speed Internet Access. Recommended by 90% of Hotwire customer reviews. This marked the first time I have ever seen Hotwire beat Priceline's prices (I bid $260 in the Midtown East and Midtown West zones and was declined). It's expensive, but that's New York. Regardless, we're excited about this win and we're looking forward to our stay!
  6. I used the PRICELINE link from betterbidding to find the hotel. Started bidding at $60 and went up in $5 increments over the course of three days (also using the free rebid zones). I'm happy, although not ecstatic, about the result. The price is a little more than I expected and I was hoping for one of the other properties in the Financial District or USW-Nob Hill zones, but I'll take the Hilton. I understand there are four big biotech conferences that weekend as well as the bowl game that is the reason for our vacation plans, all of which is driving up hotel occupancy at what is normally a dead time of year. Go Boston College Eagles! And thanks again betterbidding.
  7. Started the bidding at $20 and increased daily by $2 before winning a Hertz rental at $30. I'm psyched. Edit: This is for Honolulu.
  8. I had an identical experience to an earlier poster-- started bidding at $68, where I received the counteroffer asking me to increase my bid by $17. I ignored that and then used the free re-bids to increase my bid by $2 each time. The Hawaii Prince accepted a $72 bid.
  9. As I posted here earlier, I won on priceline the 3.5* Westin Princeville at $110/night for a stay that overlaps with the tail end of your trip.
  10. Started at $20, if I remember correctly, and increased my bid in increments of $5 until I went above $40 (then I started going up by $2 with each bid). Not bad for Maui on a weekend.
  11. Started bidding at $110 and kept going up in increments of $5 using the free re-bids. A little higher than I'd like, but still a very nice price for a resort on Maui (the resort's web site lists the lowest starting price at $281/night during our stay). Anyway, a big thanks to the moderators and contributors at this site. All told, betterbidding should help me save at least $1000 on my honeymoon versus the travel agent's quote.
  12. My guess was the Marriott based on the price. I was wondering about that listing too, so let us know if you book that one.
  13. The six hotels priceline lists in the "Resorts" category in the Kanaapali - Lahaina zone are all above $259 in the non-auction section of priceline, with the exception of the Whaler on Kanaapali Beach, which is $180. It stands to reason that a bid in the Kanaapali zone will land you at the Whaler, but I've yet to see anyone here or on the other site say they won a stay at the Whaler. Has anyone ended up at the Whaler, and do you agree with my reasoning? On the other hand, I hadn't seen anyone end up at the Westin Princeville Villas on Kauai until I won that one on Sunday. Thanks in advance.
  14. Booked for April 19-23, 2010. Original bid of $105 was rejected, but used the free re-bid to win at $110.
