  1. Right now I see a 3.5 star in Times Sq/Theatre District 70% rating Business Center Fitness Center Restaurant Smoke-free Internet Also a 3.5 star in Midtown Central 70% rating Boutique hotel Spa Services Restaurant Smoke free Internet Fitness 4 star in Midtown Center (changed # of people to 2 to get this one) 90% rating Fitness Restaurant Business Internet Any guesses? Thanks . . .
  2. I am looking for a hotel in either Times square/Theatre or Midtown Central I see this description on Hotwire w/85% recommendation rating 3-Star Theatre District Hotel Smoke-free Business Center Internet Restaurant 3-Star Midtown Central Fitness Pool Restaurant Internet Any idea which hotels these might be? I entered 3 people because I prefer 2 beds even though it is just 2 of us. I know I would have more choices if I put 2 people--1 bed would be ok if it were at least a queen but when I checked on Edison Hotel's website--they have rooms with just 1 double bed. Would they put 2 people in 1 double bed? Thanks for any insights . . . PS I first posted this in another section and thought I might be in the wrong place . . . Sorry if this caused confusion--just trying to make reservation today.
  3. Hi, Can you help me identify a hotel on HOTWIRE in the DC area: Dupont Circle: says " bed choice," boutique hotel, restaurant, fitness, business, hi-speed 3.5* 90% favorable rating. Thanks! PS yes, I still have an open thread concerning Chicago--I am still bidding there
  4. OK . . . I just bid $100 on 4* in North Mich Ave area--rejected then I added the Milennium Park area 4* and bid $110--rejected I am willing to stay at 3.5* I would like to bid $100. If that is rejected, what area can I add that doesn't have 3.5 or 4* hotels so that I can increase my bid? Thanks
  5. PS Is the window to rebid 24 hours from previous bid or does it go by calendar day--like I could bid now and then right after midnight? I have seen your rebid strategies but was unable to find where I could determine what star* ratings were available in different zones so I could rebid more quickly--I'd appreciate any help in locating that Go to the top of the pageReport Post
  6. The trip is for 1 adult and 2 kids . . . one child would be willing to sleep on the floor if needed or we could pay extra for a cot . . . that is why I am open to trying to bid on priceline 1st and see if there are still any deals to be had. Thanks . . . PS Is the window to rebid 24 hours from previous bid or does it go by calendar day--like I could bid now and then right after midnight? 7. Hi Aaron, I think I did what you asked . . . I am finding your site has great info, but a bit difficult to navigate in terms of my own posts. When I log in, I can't seem to find a ready place to start a post. I think I have ended up searching my user name for old posts and then finding an "add new topic" at the bottom. Maybe I am just old . . . :) OK . . . do you want me to post my Chicago question again or can you reply from here? Thanks,
  8. won O'Hare Doubletree for 7/19/10 at $58 first bid $50 for a 4* rejected bid 55 for 4* rejected bid $58 for a 3.5* and won
  9. Cancelled this trip--no bid history to report
  10. Just reported a win at the Doubletree O'Hare $58 on 7/19 Now I am looking for a place for 2 nights in downtown Chicago for 7/23-7/25. I am thinking either the Magnificent Mile/North Mich Ave area or Millennium Park--any idea the difference between those areas? Which is closer to the Art Institute and other museums? On Hotwire I saw a hotel that shows: fitness center, pool, restaurants, business center and internet access--90% approval--3.5* for $202. Do you think that is Embassy Suites? I saw on the Board of Wins, someone got ES for $89 on those dates. I am hoping to pay less through Priceline, but that would be my back-up if needed. I see some wins posted for less than $100 in that area. Any strategies to suggest to get a 3.5* or 4* in one of those areas? Am I more apt to get a better or worse deal since I am now so close to our travel date> Thanks!
  11. Thanks for the clarification . . . I want to report a win for the Doubletree at Chicago O'Hare on 7/19 for $58. Now I am looking for a place for 2 nights in downtown Chicago for 7/23-7/25. 12. I am new to the site and am a bit confused--want to clarify before making my 1st bid. On the Calendar of Wins there are separate posts for Hotwire and Priceline--both indicate that they were won by bids. I thought Hotwire was not a bidding site--you just take the hotel based on rating/amenities without knowing the name. However, people seem to be saying they bid to get their rates. Am I missing something?
  13. ok . . . still at this . . . trying to get a deal at South Point in Vegas I tried to search on your HOTWIRE link for a near South-Strip hotel, but none came up. We need 2 beds so I decided to try to bid on 2 rooms on Priceline--their regular price was $107 with a guarantee of 2 beds. So decided to try and bid half that on a reservation for 2 rooms--but I couldn't get past the bidding screen--when I hit "next" it kept coming back telling me to check that I had used all numeric characters in my bid. I assumed if my bid was too low they would just not accept it--but I couldn't even submit it. Have you ever heard of that? I am using a mac computer--but doubt that would be the difference.
  14. After looking at some more hotels--I am thinking South Point might be a good place since I have younger kids with me too. If I use PRICELINE and bid--will I know how many beds after my bid is accepted? That way I could bid on a 2nd room if I only got 1 bed or do you not find out until you check in? Also, If I tell PRICELINE I have 4 people, will they still put me in a King room? (Can't recall--maybe they don't even ask how many in your party . . .) Or any suggestions on how to get South Point on HOTWIRE? Whatsection of Vegas do they consider South Point in? Thanks!!! PS Love your website
  15. ok it says: South strip: Casino, resort, fitness center, pool, restaurant, business center hi-speed internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa services avail . . . does that help you narrow it down? Is it likely other options (4star) may pop up again or once they are gone--they are gone? Thanks!
  16. Hi . .. I am still looking for a hotel room in Vegas for the weekend of March 5th like I posted above. The previous choices I told you about have dropped off. I was hoping for a 4star--do the hotels offered change from day to day? Once a deal is off, might it be re-listed as the day gets closer? Can you help me ID, the best two that are posted now in my budget: 3.5 stars South Strip: Resort, Casino, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, HI-Speed Internet, Near Golf ($99) 3.5 stars Center Strip: Casino, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, HI-Speed Internet, Near Golf, Spa ($109) I am also interested in the RIO . . . what area do they list that in? I need two beds, so I assume I am locked into Hotwire. Thanks for your help . . . I will let you know when I book so you can close this thread. Also, If I change my reservation to only one child, two adults--will that change my offerings or price? PS What is the best way to find my thread--I am new to the site and it always takes me a few searches to find my own post . . . hints?
  17. I put in 2 adults and 2 children for the weekend of March 5th-7th . . . PS Are you a Michigan alum or student? My son goes there . . . trying to take him to Vegas on his winter break for 21st bday!
  18. Hi, I am planning on taking my kids to Las Vegas 1st weekend in March. I understand from reading other posts that if I want 2 beds--I can't use Priceline, correct? Looking at Hotwire, these are my options . . . can you help identify these 4 STAR hotels? Center Strip: casino, fitness, pool, dining, business, golf nearby, spa South Strip: casino, fitness, pool, dining, business, hi-speed internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby I want a 4 star, but I am really trying to avoid the Luxor which they seem to have designated as a 4-star. They only list very cheap hotels as "North Strip" so I am assuming they use a different map than Priceline who lists a number of 4 and 5 star hotels on the north strip. I am also not opposed to staying at the Rio--what area does Hotwire list Rio under? Thanks for your help . . .
