  1. Part 3 of 3 part stay, moving from previously posted Wyndham Garden Baronne Plaza and JW Marriott stays. I wanted to spend some somewhat less hectic post Carnival time, minus the overwheming crowds; sleep in a bit and enjoy NOLA. First time here, always wanted to stay here. I've heard good things
  2. Spending 13 days in NOLA during Carnival. Broke up stay into 3 parts. Retail rate was $259 a night. Part 1 of 3, moving on to previously posted Wyndham Garden Hotel Baronne Plaza.
  3. I went up to $195 for 4* Downtown & French Quarter areas and $175 Convention Center, with no luck. I worked my way up in the 3* Downtown zone and was somewhat surprised to hit at $175. I went overbudget a bit, but the more I worked on this, the more I wanted it. The hotel's website average cost per day is $260. I'm overpaying a bit on the last day, but I am doing quite well Friday to Monday. At the end of the day, I'm glad I got it done and am staying Downtown; not some far flung locale like the airport or West Bank. Thanks to the board's moderators for their guidance and input! Any feedback on this hotel is gladly welcomed.
  4. I think I found someone to split the cost. How should I proceed to bid around the $185-$205 range? Thanks.
  5. I bid Downtown and the French Quarter 4* to 3*, using the rebid zones. I didn't bid the Convention Center, but probably will before giving up on this price range. I'm hesitant to go into the price range you suggested, without a roommate at this moment. Thanks for your consideration and input, it is appreciated. I'll keep the board posted.
  6. Thursday to Thursday would be ideal, but I could add a day or two at the beginning or end, if that would make a difference. Or take away a day at the end. I'd really like to be in place Thursday to Wednesday. I just bid 4* down to 3*, up to $140 with no luck.
  7. I'm interested in bidding on a room in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. My preference is a 3 star and above Downtown, then the French Quarter, and maybe the Convention Center. My dates of travel are 2/7/12 to 2/14/12. I'd like to spend hopefully up to $150 a night including taxes and fees. My travel dates are flexible and my budget is somewhat flexible. What is a reasonable bid?
  8. The name of the rental company was not given beforehand. The reservation is cancellable at any time without penalty and like I said no credit card information was given. It says it is not necessary to reconfirm with Hotwire nor Thrifty. Any clarification on the situation would be appreciated.
  9. This is my first HOTWIRE rental. I am curious how it all works out. I made my reservation and no credit card information was asked for. Is my reservation guaranteed? How can they hold a reservation without credit card information? Do hotel reservations work the same way? 10. I got this for a friend. Hotel's website lists rooms for $179.
  11. 12. I'm giving up on this trip, at least for now. I may revisit later, in search of a last minute deal. I was looking for an inexpensive, in-state getaway. This wasn't making economic sense for me. I went over my budget to around $130 and no luck. For that type of money, there are other destinations I'd prefer.
  13. I just had an epiphany! Even though, I've had over a dozen successful bids, I've never searched for re-bid zones like Priceline Re-Bidding Explained because I was just going by the name appearing in parentheses. I was overthinking the situation. This is way easier than I thought! I'm am now figuring it would be safe to re-bid in: Jacksonville East Jacksonville SE - Baymeadows Jacksonville West Orange Park Yulee Yes, I'd like to bid the complete stay, then whatever order you suggest, at whatever price range you feel would be successful. What about my question regarding using Hotwire's price as a guide? Thanks again!
  14. I'm looking for a Downtown Jacksonville room over the Memorial Day weekend, 5/24 to 5/29. The dates are flexible. The location 5/25 to 5/28 is not, I'll be in town for the Jazz Festival. I wouldn't mind staying on the coast Thursday and/or Monday. Idealistically, my budget would be the $50's to $80's. Is this realistic? I can go higher. I'm thinking there are 2 rebid zones for 3.5*. Is this correct? Is there a rule of thumb for bidding, according to Hotwire's listed price? For instance, if Hotwire has a room I'm looking for listed for $100, should the maximum Priceline bid be a certain dollar amount less? Thanks in advance!

  17. I double checked and the JW Marriott is in the Downtown area. After many hours of bidding over many days, the whole area morphed into one. :)

  20. I'm going to New Orleans 10-28-11 to 11-3-11. I had to split my stay 4 ways and rent a car for 2 days. The situation is not ideal, but I'm going to make the best of it.
