  1. This is the price I was hoping for because I saw it on this board. Started at $65 and only needed one rebid.
  2. Thanks for the help with the 3.5*. I still see the 4* available, except now it's $229. 4th hotel down when I do the search.
  3. I tried the bidding strategy for USE and USW again a few days ago with no luck. I tried it again the next day, lowering the star rating to 3.5* up to $175 (but adjusting the bids for 6 re-bid zones), no luck again. I really want to stay near Union Square so I've resigned myself to paying more than I had hoped. I just tried bidding on 3.5* in USE and USW up to $200, no luck again. Hotwire has 2 hotels I might consider, can you help identify them? -3.5* in Union Square East - Moscone area for $209. Amenities are boutique hotel, restaurant, business center, high speed internet access, free internet. -4* in Union Square West - Nob Hill area for $228. Amenities are boutique hotel, fitness center, restaurant, business center, high speed internet, accessible path of travel, in room accessibility, accessible bathroom. Thanks for all your help.
  4. I'm not in a real hurry to book so I think I'll wait a week or so and try the 4* USE/USW strategy again. If I don't get anything then, I'll decide either to try other areas or reduce the star level. I'll keep you updated and use the PRICELINE link each time I bid.
  5. I used the PRICELINE links and the bidding strategy but unfortunately, no luck. I guess Union Square is more expensive than I had hoped. At this point, I would also consider the financial district. Does $175 seem reasonable for a 4* in the financial district? If not, I may drop the star rating and try for Union Square again.
  6. I'd like to keep the price to $175 a night. Any advise you can give would be greatly appreciated!
  7. Just tried bidding with no luck. Started at $120 adding $5 each time I added a re-bid zone. 7 re-bid zones available so I worked my way up to $155 with no luck. I figured this might be low but though I'd give it a shot since I'm not in a huge rush to get a room booked. I'll try again tomorrow starting at $160.
  8. We just decided last minute to make a quick trip to Seattle for some fall shopping. I saw other people got the Hyatt for $83 so I started there. Bid $83 - rejected Add re-bid zone - $85 - rejected Add re-bid zone - $87 - rejected Add re-bid zone - $90 - accepted This is exactly the hotel we were looking for.
  9. We booked our flights and they turned out to be a bit cheaper than we expected so we decided to up our bid. TS, MTW, CPS, MTE, ESB - $180 - accepted W New York - the Tuscany The location looks great. Very close to Grand Central and 20 min walk to Times Square. A few negative reviews on Trip Advisor, but we're happy with it. Thanks for all the help! Used the PRICELINE link to book.
  10. Tried bidding as follows: TS, MTW, CPS, MTE, ESB - $150 - rejected add re-bid zone - $155 - rejected add re-bid zone - $160 - rejected add re-bid zone - $165 - rejected add re-bid zone - $170 - rejected add re-bid zone - $175 - rejected Still no luck!
  11. Sorry it's been a while. It took some time to confirm time off work, etc. Tried bidding as follows: TS, MTW, CPS - $150 - rejected add re-bid zone - $155 - rejected add re-bid zone - $165 - rejected add re-bid zone - $170 - rejected add re-bid zone - $175 - rejected add re-bid zone - $180 - rejected I've already gone over my limit and been rejected so I'm not comfortable going any higher. I'm deciding whether to try other zones or lower star ratings but will keep you updated.
  12. Thanks for the advice. We wanted to stay in Times Square because we thought this would be closest to all the action, but now I'm thinking we should consider the other zones as well. I'll let you know how it turns out and I'll use the PRICELINE link to book!
  13. I've been reading this forum for a couple days now and have found it very helpful, especially for the re-bidding strategy for PRICELINE. My wife and I will be traveling to NYC 5/12 to 5/16. We'd like to stay right in Times Square but will also accept MTW. We'd like a 4* and our max is $200 per night including all taxes. I'm thinking of starting bidding TS at $150 and increasing in $5 increments through the re-bid zones. If I don't get anything, I'll try the same for MTW. Does this seem like a reasonable price for NYC in the spring? Should I start my bidding at a lower/higher price? The only 4* in Hotwire for this time and zones is $245. Thanks!
