  1. Hi all, my car is in the shop and this was my first time bidding on a car rental. I've done plenty of hotel bids. Started from the PRICELINE links here on this board, and bid up several times, starting at $9, adjusting pick-up date & place, and changing car type to allow re-bids. Ended up at: Your Offer Price: $19.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 3 days Subtotal: $57.00 Taxes and Fees: $27.17 Total Charges: $84.17 Lowest Published Price: $292.55 (USD) Total Savings:* $208.38 (USD) (You saved 71%) I guess on paper that looks OK. Checking Travelocity & Orbitz, I see rates very close to this, at least for starting the rental on Sunday.
  2. Reviewed reported wins on here, started bid at $60, accepted right away! Used PRICELINE links on here of course.
  3. Indeed, November 18th date confirmed: http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/sha...ral_austin.html I too am wondering how soon we could book through PRICELINE.
  4. Used the PRICELINE links from this board of course. Started at $45 and added zones to rebid by $5 increments. Won it at $60. Wondering if there's something in town we don't know about, as I saw recent wins as low as $45. Thanks as always to the board admins!
  5. Hey thereuare, yo can see my other post for some of the details, but here you go; Was looking for Houston Galleria area, 4*, 1st bid was 45, counter was +13, my counter to that was 50, and then that's as far as I got it seemed. I could only add new areas, or lower * ratings, which I didn't want to do. Then while I was searching and reading more posts here, I got a PL email that had a "try again" button, and was able to rebid 55.
  6. This is my first time using PL. I started at $45, counteroffer said to try $13+, was able to rebid once (for "free"?) at $50. While I was figuring out how to rebid -see my other post- I got an email inviting me back to try again, had success at $55. :) Of course I used the PRICELINE links from the board, thanks to the board creators!
  7. Hi, I hope this question isn't too daft... I'm very much a PL newb. I've seen references to folks modifying their trip in order to keep bidding, several times, seemingly, all in one session, until they're successful. I am wondering how to modify my original request so that I can do this? PL is giving me the option of adding areas, or lower * ratings. But really, my area and * preference is fixed. My initial bid was rejected, and I was offered a free one time counter offer of X amount, but I didn't accept, not wanting to increment my first (ever!) bid by that much. I tried adding an area, and deliberately lowballing, knowing that the bid wouldn't be accepted, but hoping I could then delete an area, and go back to my original configuration, and incrementing by the amount I wanted, but it seems that once an area is added, it can't be removed. Is this possible, or are my only options to 1) add areas/* ratings as suggested, or 2) wait 24 hrs? TVM! UPDATE: OK, I really may be showing my newbie colors here... minutes after the above post, I got a PL email inviting me back to try again. I did, raised my bid, and got my hotel booked. I'll post up my bid details separately. I'm still curious if this is the typical sequence of events.
