  1. Congratulations! I'm headed to Singapore in November, and am hoping to get the Conrad as well. As of right now, bids of $80, $82, and $85 are all being rejected for the City Hall-Marina Bay zone but I'm hoping once the date gets a little closer that I'll be able to get an offer similar to yours accepted. I'll be curious to hear how your stay goes - please report back after you've returned if you have a chance!
  2. Thanks for this clarification - good to know. Will do! I'll use the link each time I put in my bids....
  3. Thanks for the input, chewiegranolabar! It's always helpful to hear from locals to get some ideas. The Intercontinental sounds great, but it's hard to know whether there are any other 5* hotels in that zone. I know I've read when placing a bid that the hotel you win "may or may not be one of the ones shown in regular search results"....but would it be likely that they have properties that they only sell rooms at Name Your Own Price? I can do some research, both on Priceline and other sites to try to determine if there are any other 5* properties in that zone, but I'd be curious if anyone can share thoughts on that.
  4. Thanks so much for your reply. I do have a bit of time so there's no huge rush - the Conrad definitely looks pretty incredible, though. Can you remember any of the hotels in the Bugis area that I could look into to decide if they look good enough to bid that zone?
  5. I'm traveling to Singapore, and will be there from Nov. 5 through Nov. 9. I'd prefer to stay in either the City Hall or Orchard Rd Zone (unless someone recommends a different zone for general tourists to stay in - a group of mid-20 guys). I put in these bids last night: 5* City Hall - $74 (rejected) 5* City Hall, Financial District - $77 (rejected) 5* City Hall, Financial District, East Coast - $81 (rejected) 5* City Hall, Financial District, East Coast, Riverside - $85 (rejected) 5* Orchard Rd - $74 (rejected) 5* Orchard Rd, Financial District - $77 (rejected) 5* Orchard Rd, Financial District, East Coast - $81 (rejected) 5* Orchard Rd, Financial District, East Coast, Riverside - $85 (rejected) [Financial District, East Coast, and Riverside all do not have any 5* properties, so they created free rebids for a 5*. ] Here is the list of known Priceline hotels in Singapore. I do see a few others (here and here) that have been successful for similar bid prices, but obviously dates and inventory are the big factor. Any thoughts on rebid strategies (i.e. wait a few days/week)? I think I've included all the information I need to include here, but let me know if I'm leaving out anything that would be helpful.
  6. I unfortunately am not currently able to post winning bid information, as I have not bid yet....but I have a pre-bid question, and I will definitely be sure to post my winning bid info if I do in fact go through with it. I'm looking into flying from Greensboro, NC to Watertown, NY on February 11-13. I looked into Hotwire, and they have by far the cheapest price (ranging between $208-$216 as opposed to $248+anywhere else) Then I realized that Watertown is such a tiny tiny airport that USAir is the only carrier that flies into it. So since flights are listed on Hotwire, the only logical deduction is that I will be on USAir. Next comes the times...the time frames of possible flights on Hotwire coincide perfectly with the specific USAir flights. Below is a screen shot of the flights on USAir: My question is about my departing flight. As you can see from the above image, USAir offers 2 flights that fit in Hotwire's "Morning" time frame (6:00 am - 11:00 am). What I would like to know from others' experiences is the chance of me getting the 10:47 am flight as opposed to the 6:15 am. Have many people encountered getting "good" flight times from Hotwire over a much worse time flight? Or is it pretty likely that Hotwire's fare is only for the 6:15 am flight? Any input/experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks!
