  1. I bid and won $32 for Courtyard By Marriott Denver South Park Meadows Mall Check-In Date: Sunday, November 20, 2005 Check-Out Date: Monday, November 21, 2005 Tech Center South 8320 South Valley Highway Englewood, Colorado 80112 720-895-0300 Your Offer Price: $32.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $32.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.22 Total Charges: $43.22 On their website the base price starts at $69. I'm happy!
  2. Yes, $75 was my first offer. I was tired of messing around and wanted to win!
  3. Wow, I've booked 7 nights thru Priceline over the past week for a one-week stay from San Diego to Oxnard, Aug. 17 - 24. This will be my last night. I've messed with bids for days now, including $85 for a 3* in Pasadena and $40 for 2.5* in Redondo. I finally decided to give the $91 for a 3* in Redondo Beach, figuring it could be the Crowne Plaza and should be a great last night. Sure enough, Your Offer Price: $91.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $91.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.83 Total Charges: $111.83 This was one of those where the pop-up on Priceline said it could take up to 15 minutes, check back. I can just see it, some excited desk clerk calls the hotel and says "We got some sucker ready to pay the big bucks! Give him the room next to the elevator, huh huh!!" Well anyway, the reviews look good on TripAdvisor and I think I might get a free buffet breakfast. Orbitz shows it sold out, Crowne Plaza's website has it at $169 as does beachcalifornia.com Hotwire has a 3* at $114. I feel good!!!
  4. Well, I lost with $86 for the 3* Sheraton, but won with $75 for this Courtyard by Marriott Oxnard. Funny thing is that Expedia, Orbitz, and Hotels.com all have it as a 3* at $129 and up. Great TripAdvisor ratings. It used to be a Radisson and apparantly a courtyard room is quieter. Two nights in Oxnard allows me to do a day trip to Santa Barbara without paying their high hotel prices, like $226 for a 2.5* thru Hotwire.
  5. Trying to duplicate my previous success for Aug. 21-22, I bid the same $81 and lost. Then bid $86 including Camarillo and lost.
  6. I bid $76 for Aug. 21-23 and lost, then bid $81 for Aug. 21-22 and won. On Orbitz it's $144, but also listed as 2*, not 3*. Description sounds super; nice reviews with TripAdvisor. With Hotwire there was a 3* for $133, probably not the same as it mentions free breakfast.
  7. Very cool, I just did the same thing yesterday and won the Omni for Aug. 17th for $97. Today, for Aug. 18 I bid $96, a dollar less! Two nites at the Omni San Diego will be sweet. I also bid in the upper $80 range yesterday for Aug. 18th for Carlsbad-Encinitas, and for Coronado, but didn't win. TripAdvisor rates this Omni #6 for San Diego. Expedia has it for $209, Orbitz and Hotels.com at $234. I feel good!!
  8. First I bid $85 and lost for Aug 17-19, then $93 for one night and rejected, then $97 with the addition of Point Loma - Shelter Island - Old Town and I won the Omni San Diego. Your Offer Price: $97.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $97.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $18.96 Total Charges: $115.96 Thru Expedia it's $279, 234 thru Orbitz, and $304 thru Hotels.com. Wahoo!!
  9. Hummm...was trying for Disneyland and figured, based on Islandgal's post, that $59 would get me the Crowne Plaza. Rejected, so I bid $61 and added Newport/Huntington Beach for $61 and won the Sutton Place Hotel in Newport Beach. I gambled that $61 would not win me Newport (though it's sold for less than that months ago - this is peak season), but it did! On the Sutton Place website the cheapest room is $129. Orbitz has a $109 minimum. Hotel looks sharp, 5 miles from the beach, amidst lots of fun attractions. Cheaper than the Hotwire offerings, should be nice.
  10. First bid for Lafayette, LA and it won. With tax $48.82. Base price on Orbitz was $104 and they called it a 2*. Good location with business conveniences and pool, free internet. Hotwire had a 3* for $51 which I would have taken had I not won on Priceline. Officially called Courtyard By Marriott Lafayette.
  11. What a deal for $45...regularly $149 thru Orbitz & others! I've won this last year also and all was wonderful except they charge a few bucks for parking. Super location, comfortable, nice, modern hotel, more than a 3* in my book! Hi speed internet. Judge Baldwins restaurant and brewery on the premises, and Phantom Canon brewery across the street! Mountain side has great views. Two blocks from the park and river. Nice pool and hot tub with mountain views. Wahoo!! :)
  12. No, I bid last year and got the Hilton Antlers, which is quite nice. I stayed at the Doubletree last night. It's near the Sheraton, just off the interstate. Nice lobby, pool, hot tub, bar, and a large room with sofa, lazy chair, bathroom, small porch overlooking nice & quiet courtyard and mountains, newspapers in the morning, comfy bed...really a great hotel. Internet in the room costs $10 night, but there's free hotspot in the Starbucks in the lobby.
  13. I won it on Priceline 5/19/05 Your Offer Price: $85.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $170.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $34.75 Total Charges: $204.75
  14. Bid in the low $60 for a 4* in the CBD, French Quarter and Convention Center area but lost. Bid $55 for the French Quarter and won. Good price, but the hotel has a special and you can book directly thru them for numerous weekday nights for only $59, which may have been cheaper given Priceline's extra fees, but hey, decent deal anyway.
  15. This is for Sunday - Tuesday, including July 4, but not the preceeding Saturday night which caused on-line prices to esculate. This may look a little high but it's peak season, and booking direct would have been about double, so I'm happy. This is the one Hotwire often lists as customer favorite. Plus, I love this place, often win it, have a SPG card, and think it's first class. Super rooms, beds, views, location, elevators, bathrooms, lobby. Parking is over $25 so I park up Canal and take the streetcar for $1.25, but I take a risk leaving my car on the streets. Anyway, I'm happy!!
  16. Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Complimentary Breakfast, Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service). Free internet, nice rooms, free hot breakfast, and Ruby's Steakhouse attached make this a very nice deal.
  17. Betterbidding mentioned the Antlers Hilton and Sheraton. Add this Doubletree. Should be nice...lists for $130 - $140 or so on Expedia, Orbitz, Hotels, and the Doubletree site.
  18. I bid $47 three days ago for May 17 & 18, 3 * in Provo, Utah, and lost. Then I bid $51 for May 17 and won the Marriott. Then I bid $51 for May 18 and lost, tried again today for $55 and won. Highly rated on tripadvisor.com; should be great!
  19. I saw the posts for the $40 - $52 range and really wanted this so bid $54. On Hotwire it was $72 - 77 this week for probably the same hotel. TripAdvisor gave mixed reviews, but I"m betting it's excellent on the waterfront. :)
  20. These dates are for the French Quarter Fest. I saw Hotwire had a 4* in the CBD for $90, but since it wasn't a Customer Favorite, the description sounded like the Hyatt, which is near the Superdome and has small rooms. So I saw the Convention Center, French Quarter, and CBD all had 4* listing on Priceline. I started with the Convention Center for $81 and failed, then the FQ for $85 and failed, and won with $89 to include the CBD and won the Renaissance Pere Marquette. Wahoo!!! The price on Orbitz or Travelocity is $189. This is rated #40 on Trip Advisor with some mostly positive reviews. I've stayed here last year thanks to Priceline and was very satisfied. It's about as nice as the Sheraton, which I love. I've found any 4* in N'Awlins will be quite nice. Careful with the 3*s though!! Secret: Take it from someone from New Orleans (now in Denver), the French Quarter Fest is most excellent. I go to the Jazz Fest every year but am starting to like this one more. Thanks Betterbidding for so much useful info. :)
  21. I kept loosing with Priceline at New Orleans bids for a 4* bidding up to $80. So, I went for the 3* in Metairie and got the Wyndham Metairie. On other sites it runs around $129. This is Mardi Gras season, so a great deal. :) Thru Wyndham last week I booked the hotel for Jan 27 & 28 at $95 per night.
  22. Hotwire listed: Hotel, Restaurant, Swimming, & Fitness. Resulting hotel: Hilton at Altamonte Springs, currently highest rated by TripAdvisor for Altamonte Springs Prices from other sources: Expedia ($114 nt), Hotels.com ($127), Orbitz ($143), Travelocity $114 - cheaper with AAA membership or government). Note: All the above list this as 3*, not 3.5* as on Hotwire. :)
