  1. Huh...my first bid and I won! Was ready to pick numerous areas for some fun bidding...love that bidding!! Listed for $99 base on Crowne Plaza website, Orbitz and Travelocity. :) Crowne Plaza Resort Anaheim Disneyland Area 12021 Harbor Blvd Garden Grove, California 92840 714-867-5555 Sat, Aug 25, 2007 / After 04:00 PM Check-Out Date: Sun, Aug 26, 2007 / 12:00 PM Amenities: (9 listed items) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $47.00 Subtotal: $47.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.98 Total Charges*: $59.98

  3. Yeah, Botique, Comp. Breakfast, fitness, internet and laundry.
  4. Thanks to Betterbidding I knew I would get The Magnolia. Features include: fitness, restaurant, business center and wi-fi access. It includes a free continental breakfast and cookies and milk at night! With add'l charges the three nights comes to: $313.24 Thru Travelocity with a AAA card it would be $180 per night before taxes, $191 average per night thru Expedia or Hotels.com. Yeah...I'm booked for the Great American Beer Fest at a good rate. Ayieeee!!!!
  5. I count this as a major score...wow! I've been trying to book for the week of Oct. 8 - 14 for months, always bidding thru Priceline under $100 for a 4* and always loosing. So, on Hotwire there was listed a 3* for under $60 for that period and I took too long and the price has jumped to over $100. I was sure it was for the Red Lion Downtown Denver which is actually across the interstate from downtown by the stadium. So I messed the desired dates but found I could get 3* downtown for Oct 8-11 for $59 a night. It lists fitness, pool, restaurant, hi-speed, business center and golf nearby. I bid thinking it was the Red Lion but instead it's the Adams Mark! On their own website the price begins at $259 per night so for me this is a giant score! On Travelocity it would have been $259 per night before taxes, $233 on Orbitz, and $220 on Expedia before taxes. Now I just need to get Oct. 11-14!
  6. I won this yesterday afternoon. Tried for 4* for $76 and $86 in various hot areas. Eventually won this. The Hilton website and others like Orbitz had it at $159 before taxes so it's quite a savings for $81 per night. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $81.00 Subtotal: $162.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $27.24 Total Charges*: $189.24 The hotel is nice, but you pay $14 per day for self park. Try to get a room not facing the highway. Good central location with lots of restaurants and shopping very close. Business hotel mostly, but probably the best price for a 3* in a decent location.
  7. I saw Hotwire had a 2.5* for $59 so I decided to bid $46 for a 2.5* thru Priceline and won. I did the same thing for a trip 5/2/07 and won the same hotel! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.51 Total Charges*: $58.51 Good reviews thru TripAdvisor and my last visit. On other sites before tax the price would have been $64......Decent!
  8. I was bidding between $61 and 71 for a 3 or 4 star hotel and lost for various places around San Diego. Got this 2.5* for $51, $64.16 after taxes. Tripadvisor gives is an OK rating, with warnings about being on the interstate side. I'll request the other side of the bldg. On the Marriott site, Travelocity, Orbitz, etc., it's $189 before taxes, so, I'd say I got a good deal...yeah baby!! :)
  9. I saw Hotwire had a 2* for $42 so I decided to bid $46 for a 2.5* thru Priceline and won. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $46.00 Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.51 Total Charges*: $58.51 Good reviews thru TripAdvisor. On other sites with tax the price would have been $86, so I saved almost $30. Decent!
  10. Orbitz had a $49 one star hotel, Hotwire had a $45 two star, then things jumped quite a bit on all the sites. I won this on Priceline with my first bid, $51... Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $51.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.71 Total Charges*: $64.71 ### Orbitz, Travelocity, Hotels, the hotel website and regular Priceline have it at $90 plus tax at $105. So, I'm saving around $40. The one Betterbidding review is bad, but most of the Tripadvisor reviews make it sound good. I'm happy!!
  11. Real nice hotel...better than a 2.5*. When I was checking in someone came in for a room and was quoted $189 at the cheapest. I feel good!! Your Offer Price: $51.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $51.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.12 Total Charges*: $64.12 I bid on this at 5pm on 4/26. My only bid :)
  12. I'm here for business...not sure if there's much of a tourist appeal, but maybe!! Hotwire had a 2* for $49, and a 3* for $67 for Feb. 12, 2007, one night. I bid $51 for a 3* on Priceline and got: Radisson Hotel Whittier Check-In Date: Monday, February 12, 2007 Check-Out Date: Tuesday, February 13, 2007 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $51.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.74 Total Charges*: $64.74 Radisson Hotel Whittier 7320 Greenleaf Avenue Whittier, California 90602 562-945-8511 For the same deal, the Orbitz package was $99, Expedia is $98.
  13. I stayed there last night. Not as bad as many reviewers wrote on Tripadvisor, but definitely run down a bit...a 2* at max, but good enough. Here's the tricky thing...make sure you're careful where you park. I got a $23 ticket (even though I placed my paid ticket on the dash) becaurse I didn't recognize my space as a tow away - temp parking spot. Lucky I didn't get towed...I guess! Parking in Miami Beach is tricky. For overnight, stay in a public multi-story lot.
  14. I tried for a 2.5 star on Priceline for Miami Beach and failed. Tried $60 for higher star ratings and failed. Hotwire listed a 2* in South Beach for $49...$61.97 with tax, etc. Only feature is "near beach." Tripadvisor gives is so-so reviews, but I'm only there one night, getting in late, and even calling independent hotels without website or booking agents, everything is well over $100! Even the hostels are around $30 in shared bunk dorms! So...unless the bed bugs bite, I'm pretty happy. On the hotel website the price is min $89 before tax. Other sites have it cheaper.
  15. Amenities: Shuttle, Fitness, Swimming & Business Center. Also, I listed my base as $99, but it should have been $103. The price changed within two hours of when I first looked at it and when I purchased. :)
  16. Yesterday (10/18) I bid for a 3* on Priceline at $84 and lost. I was hoping for the Crowne Plaza which I won last year. Couldn't find any surrounding areas that didn't list a 3*, so I didn't rebid. Instead, I got the Best Western Redondo Beach thru Hotwire for a base of $99. Best Western Redondo Beach Inn 1850 S Pacific Coast Highway Redondo Beach, California90277 (310) 540-3700 1 room(s) @ $103.00 per night x 1 night(s) Taxes, recovery charges, and fees Hotel subtotal $103.00 $17.35 $120.35 Total Some hotels may apply additional charges for incidental fees such as parking. Prices are in $USD. $120.35 Note: There's a better BW closer to the piers. Here's the Problem...most websites listed this as a 2.5* (Hotwire said they have their own rating system), and were less money in the base price and final price. So I wrote them this email: Hello, I've been a Hotwire user for years, and have written in travel blogs and sites about my success. Tonight was the first let down. This hotel is listed as less than your price and star rating on at least three sites; I'd like a refund rather than double the difference refund as this hotel has bad reviews. Sources for lower star ratings and price: Expedia.com $89 base - $102.44 w/tax Hotels.com $89 base - $102.44 w/tax Orbitz.com $89 base - $102.44 w/tax Travelocity"]Travelocity.com $94 base - 108.80 w/tax Priceline: Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $94.88 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $94.88 Taxes & Fees: $15.48 Total Charges*: $110.36 Here's the details from Hotels.com where I can cancel with a full refund: Best Western Redondo Beach Inn Check-in: November 06, 2006 Check-out: November 07, 2006 Rooms & Guests change travel details 2 Adults, 0 Children 1 Standard room Rates per Room (excluding tax recovery charges and our service fees) November 06, 2006 ---- $89.00 TripBucks Free Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees $13.44 Total Charges $102.44 (includes tax recovery charges and service fees If you can cancel this reservation, please let me know. If not, please refund double the difference ($20) to: #### Yeehaw!!! Anybody still with me? :) They said on the phone and in their site notes that they don't refund. Talking to a stupervisor got me nowhere, but they did respond to my email. Today I got a $28 refund to my account. They honored their double the difference guarantee although I'm still stuck with this potentially so-so hotel. I felt that if most sites call this a 2.5, they should also...oh well. Priceline gave me a refund once when I accidentally entered the wrong month. I like Priceline!! I should have bid higher on Priceline, but was cautious. With Hotwire I gambled as I could find no recent listing of a winning Hotwire success on Betterbidding for LA - Redondo Beach. Anyway, I got a decent price and location overall. this Best Western didn't get the highest ratings, but overall they'll be no crying in my beer :)
  17. I was trying to get the whole week of the Great American Beer Fest, Sept. 25 - Oct. 1. I bid $69 for a 4*, $59 for a 3*, changed my dates and increased prices a bit, kept loosing. Finally I bid $81 for just the Friday and Sat. night and won...wahoo!! :o This is good because a lot of places are sold out. I tried to win Sept. 25 - 29 with an $80 bid and lost again. :) Then I drove around downtown Denver and found some mom and pop motels that run $35 - $50 that are close to downtown, and I'll stay in one of those for the weekdays, specifically, the Rosedale Motel 303 433-8345 is $39, not listed on any travel sites, and is less than a mile from Coors Stadium. It's a little shaky, but not too bad. On Colfax the Budget Host All In at 3015 E. Colfax is only $35, but it's a 4 story hotel and further away with a scary elevator. :) I'm figuring it's saved me $55 plus per night. :)
  18. Bid $33 for 3* Greentree alone and lost, lost adding East for $35, went $37 including North (East, North and W. Mifflinn don't have 3*!), and won. Could have bid again with W. Mifflin, but unnecessary. Holiday Inn Greentree Check-In Date: Wednesday, January 18, 2006 Check-Out Date: Thursday, January 19, 2006 Greentree 401 Holiday Drive Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15220 412-922-8100 Your Offer Price: $37.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $37.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $12.44 Total Charges: $49.44 Prices start at $95 on Holiday Inn or Orbitz sites, before tax. I'm happy :)
  19. Wow...as usual I spent way too much time researching and choosing. You and most services list the Crowne Plaza as a 3*. Your guide for Hotwire describes the 3* Crowne Plaza. Anyway, Hotwire had what I'll suppose the CP for $47...it was $40 a week ago - sometimes gotta commit early! So, I pulled up Priceline and bid $44 for a 3* and lost. Bid $47 including 2.5* hotels. Bid $33 for a 2* and lost. About to go with the Hotwire $47 for a 3* but tried $37 for a 2*, adding on Allentown, and won the Crowne Plaza: Congratulations, you got your price of $37 for a 2-star hotel room. Save even more when you add a rental car below. Crowne Plaza Allentown Check-In Date: Thursday, January 19, 2006 Check-Out Date: Friday, January 20, 2006 Allentown 904 Hamilton Mall Allentown, Pennsylvania 18101 610-433-2221 Your Offer Price: $37.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $37.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $11.17 Total Charges: $48.17 So the reviews aren's great, it's better than what I expected..quite suprised and happy. Orbitz, Quxo, Crowne Plaza and others all start at $114 before taxes. Yeah baby...if you're into beer, this is a super area - Bethlehem Brew Works, the Farmhouse in Emmaus...Wahoo!!
  20. Noting was on this neighb orhood of Pitt on your site, so I bid $51 for a 3*. Priceline said no but suggested increasing $14. I did and won the HI Select Pittsburgh at Univ. Center Your Offer Price: $65.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $65.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $16.79 Total Charges: $81.79 Question: Do you think I could have won if I had not heeded the $14 increase? Anyway, I'm quite happy...hotel normally goes for $119 - $160 on other sites :)
  21. I bid $43 for a 3* and lost, but it said to add on $11 and try again. For $54 I took a chance on a 4* and lost. So I kept adding $2 or $3 and adding on other areas that don't offer 4*s and at $63 I won what would cost from $119 - $160 on other sites before tax. :) Your Offer Price: $63.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $63.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.40 Total Charges: $80.40 The Westin Cincinnati Check-In Date: Friday, December 23, 2005 Check-Out Date: Saturday, December 24, 2005
