Used PRICELINE link. Started bidding at 86, East and 5* (counter to 114). Re used link and added zone south and upped to 91. Reused PRICELINE link and did zones West and East for 96 (counter to 114). Reused PRICELINE link and did all three zones 5* for 101, and got the Westin Grand! Stay is 27-29 August

Just to update. We decided to book with booking.com instead. Wanted something close to the center of the city, and the range for PRICELINE and HOTWIRE was too big.

I am starting with some low bids as I have a long time, but am not hearing anything back or anything about changing my bid or lowering the stars to bid again. do hotels release rooms to PRICELINE when it gets within a certain amount of time? and if so any suggestions on when i should start bidding?

Thanks for the information. I have never been to Venice before so looking forward to the trip. We are trying to find a good deal for no more than $150/night. The lower the better. Trying to find the best deal. I did see a post for Paris that suggested best way to bid until $110, did not know if anyone had a similar recommendation on bidding strategy for Venice.
