We would like to be $150 or less. Is that unreasonable in February in Miami?

I am trying for a 4* or 5* hotel in downtown Miami for 1 night, February 11, 2013 pre-cruise. I have tried first 5* then 4* downtown then rebid adding southwest Miami and finally Miami Lakes since I do not think they have any 4 or 5 * properties. I have bid everywhere from $125 to $150. I see the Intercontinental is $250 for that date on LastMinute Travel. Any other suggestions? I assume February is a high price time for Miami. We like being close to the cruiseport. Longduo

I am also looking for a 4* or 5* hotel in downtown Miami pre-cruise, but I need it for February 11. The lowest prices I have seen are $250. How low can I bid to possibly have it accepted? I have tried up to $145 so far with no luck. We have stayed at the Intercontinental several times, but the prices this year seem quite high. Longduo

I went ahead and booked this hotel on HOTWIRE for March 30, 1 night pre-cruise at $134. I got tired of trying Priceline daily for over a month with no success. My time is more valuable than that. I realize that this is spring break time so prices will be higher and availability tighter. It is Comfort Suites Airport and Cruiseport Fort Lauderdale. It has a shuttle from the airport and to the cruiseport so it should be convenient. Thanks for your help identifying this hotel. Longduo

Has anyone had luck with Priceline for a hotel room in Fort Lauderdale for Sunday, March 30? I have been trying bidding every day for about 3 weeks in downtown, beach and airport north as a free retry with no luck. I have bid everywhere between $65 and $110. I see a lot of wins for the new Marriott Courtyard Beach FLL, but none for my date. The Marriott website shows availability as does the Hyatt Place Downtown. Any hints? Longduo

I read the strategies and have been trying to follow them since 11/11. For the first month I bid: 3* downtown ( $75 or$78 or $80 or $81) then when rejected 3* downtown & Miramar ($81-$85) Lately I have tried: $75 4* downtown $80 3* or 4* downtown $82 3* or 4* downtown & Miramar The highest I have gone is: $85 4* downtown $86 3* or 4* downtown $87 3* or 4* downtown & Miramar I do have a fully cancellable back-up. We would like to be downtown at Marriott Marina, Renaissance or Embassy Suites (tho' I haven't noticed anyone getting that on Priceline lately as I believe the cruise companies are using Embassy Suites) I have seen folks getting reservations beyond our April 26 date. Any guidance would be appreciated. Perhaps something else is going on then. It looks like only 3 or 4 cruise ships sail on April 27. Longduo

I have followed all the bidding suggestions, but no luck. The highest I have bid is $87. Has anyone been successful with Priceline for April 26.? Any tips or feedback would be appreciated. longduo
