  1. Just as a followup, I bid $35 and $40 and was rejected. Since my bid wait was past the time I left, I was not able to rebid. We ended up staying in an Econo-Lodge which was not so nice but loved UVA and Charlottesville was wonderful! Thanks for all of your suggestions.
  2. Since Charlottesville's lowest on your list is 2.5, I guess I could go with that. Thanks
  3. I am visiting UVA in Charlottesville, and need a room for my son and I on Sunday the 27th. I know this is Thanksgiving weekend, but I'm not sure if Sunday will be a problem. I would like to keep it under $50 total if possible - clean is all we need. Thanks
  4. Having never used Priceline, what if any are the fees that they attach to your winning bid? Is it a set amount or is it included in your bid? Thanks
  5. Just to follow up on this, I did not stay in Philly, instead stayed at a cousin's in DC. Thanks for any input though.
  6. I ended up getting a government rate, not using Hotwire or Priceline. I could not use Priceline then with the possibility of getting only 1 bed for 4 people. This time it is only my son and I. Sorry if I used the board incorrectly.
  7. Thanks for all of the input. I ended up getting a government rate at a Comfort Inn on 35th that beat anything I had seen through Priceline.
  8. I've never used Priceline and would like help finding a hotel in Philadelphia for 1 night after touring the University of Pennsylvania. I arrive by rental car from Baltimore on September 22nd with a tour that day. I leave on the 23rd for a tour of Georgetown in DC. It will only be my son and me. I would like to be able to check out Philly a bit but am on a strict budget. Thanks!
  9. Thanks so much for the quick reply! I guess my major concern was getting a hotel that only offered 1 bed. It seems that some of the web-sites I go to show hotels that only accomodate 2 people no matter what the cost. I'd be up a tree if that were the case. I would be more than willing to stay elsewhere, only I don't know much about NYC and I just thought that walking around at night close to my hotel would be safer than walking through neighborhoods that are less populated. I certainly don't plan to spend many daylight hours there. Do you have any other suggestions? We'd like to see every inch that we can, don't care about relaxing, may never get back. We want location versus pampering. Breakfast would be great because of convenience but not a must. Easy to please, cross country campers at heart. (That is why I'm so un-hotel-wise!). I will research more and check back in when the tree is down and the dust has settled from Xmas. This site is so helpful! Thanks for all you do!
  10. I will be in NYC in April with 2 teenage boys and would like to stay in an area not too far from Times Square so walking at night won't be an issue for me. I think I can do this, but I'm still confused as to whether I will only get one bed using Priceline. I read that people ask for certain things, but do they do that when they bid or after they've gotten their hotel? Is Hotwire a better choice if 2 beds are needed? Am I too early to even be thinking about this? Sorry about the stupidity..... :) Thanks!
