I see. They do offer it to make a direct reservation, but are offering exactly the same rates as I could get on the hotel website. Not a compelling reason to use PRICELINE on that reservation. Thanks

My wife and I want to stay at the Grand America in a few weeks and would like to grqab something cheaper than the 189$ a night weekend rate.

On priceline the Grand America is the only one that shows up as a 5* if you just try and book a room. Anyone have any luck with it bidding?

I need a 4* in the Galleria for Tuesday night (during the business week) and based on this recent priceline win i started at 60$. 65. 70.75.80

Finally at 85$ I wound up at the Hotel Intercontinental Dallas.

I had pricelined the "best" (read 4*) in the IAH area before and been disappointed with the airport hotel... parking is expensive and hard to get in and out. So I tried Sofitel as I needed 3 rooms for 1-3 days. Paid 100 to 105$ per night. The hotel was a disaster. Old rooms and smelly carpet. Fortunately some well placed complaints were heard and they upgraded the rooms--- to identically sized rooms with the same furniture. Just cleaner, newer beds and no odors.

I guess the hotwire rate gets you the crappy room at Sofitel!

I will pay more and put my guests at the Wyndham next time.

Good news -- it was a lot cheaper than the best Orbitz/etc prices of 149.00 And I started at savingsbarn.com.

I have one guy staying 7/11-12 and two guys staying 7/11-14 and they want (gasp) 102.00 per night. The Sofitel is really nice though and very convenient. I guess I can reserve a room for the one guy staying one night and if it hits the Sofitel I make the others. Priceline is bad because it sticks you in the airport hotel which is a pain and costs 15.00 a day for the parking.

I tried the Sofitel website and the best I got was 149.00 although they claimed they had a deal where they matched the best internet rate and stuck in an additional 10% -- small solace when if I make the reservation I am stuck at hotwire already!

What is this hotel? it better be good since they want 102.00 $ a pop for it. Thanks in advance

This is available at 107 per room per night 4/20-23. I guess that is just a a tough weekend to get it.

Downtown And University Park

and got up to 85.00 and rejected. Any ideas??

Omni Cancun, 4 rooms during what appears to be a pretty high occupancy week -- I say that becaue the hilton is sold out completely on the 31st-4th.

No, it was for the 25th-31st. I thought about busting it up but with 8 of us traveling and the need for 3 rooms it wasn;t so good.

I did find out the hotel was solidly booked 2 of the nights which could have lead to the price level we paid ---

The Sanlitun is a 5*?? Only in Priceline land. Good luck on the trip. But don;t count on thr Ritz!

London hotels are horrific, particularly when you really want a good location and need three rooms. I have seen this a lot -- I bid one room and no problemo... three rooms is harder, much harder...

But I do my usual thing and identify all of the areas that only have 3* and below. Bid for the area I want and start going up 10$ a pop adding the areas that have no hotels at the 4* level.

I top out at 130$ a night and give up. I check out all the alternative hotel sites and find 145 to be the lowest 4* that has the types fo rooms I want and they all want extra for rollaways, etc.

So after 72 hours I repeat the process but only aim at 5* and am willing to go up to 145. That's when I got the Meridien Piccadilly just off Piccadilly Circus. Great hotel but 5 days times 3 rooms + taxes wound up being my biggest priceline charge ever.
