  1. Thanks, I think they're just going to go ahead and purchase that 3* in Naples near I75, so it's not imperative that I know ahead of time. Thanks again for what you do.
  2. No, I went into Trip advisor seperately. Does that mean the hotel wouldn't be on trip advisor, or just didn't have info on Hotwire?
  3. Fabulous!!! I'm looking at a 3* that hotwire has in the naples I75 area. They List: Complimentary breakfast Pool Laundry facilities High-speed internet access So far all of the hotels that I think it is have something different like fitness in addition to those listed by Hotwire. By looking at Trip Advisor it seems like this might be Spring Hills, or might it be something different? Thanks again for your help, and I will make sure they bid through the HOTWIRE link.
  4. OK. After getting your response we decided that convenience was more important than price so they decided to go through HOTWIRE instead of Priceline so they can stay near the interstate on their way to Miami. Would you like to move this whole thread, or would you like me to start another one on the Hotwire board? I won't have many questions to ask since they have somewhat made up their mind, but I will have a result to publish.
  5. They want to go for cheapest possible in Naples. Their limit is $100 which is pretty high I think. I told them to be careful going below 3*, but they may be willing if they have to place another bid.
  6. My son would like to stay over night in Naples on Jan 15. Could you give me an idea of what the best 3* or 4* rates would be for that night, and possibly a bidding strategy. Thanks for your help.
  7. That's a nice price, how far in advance did you book?
  8. I'm glad you posted this thread on this site because I too rented a car through priceline, and will need to turn it in early. I wasn't interested in a refund, but I sure don't want to pay anything extra.
  9. I've also stayed at the Tampa Hyatt a couple of times. They seemed apologetic the first night because they couldn't give me a king size bed. My second stay I got the king size bed and the water view at sunset. Nice! Like all of these higher end hotels I didn't really care to have to pay extra for internet. The seafood restaurant was fabulous. My meal cost more than my room, but it was great.
  10. Ok, now I've got another question. If my son wanted to stay at the same hotel what would the likelyhood of him getting the same hotel for the same night by bidding the same price I did? I know, there are a lot of ifs. I think they'd be ok staying in a hotel in the same neighborhood.
  11. 4* Miami Downtown, Hyatt Regency Miami. Check-In Date:Fri, Jan 15, 2010 Check-Out Date:Sat, Jan 16, 2010 They charge $12.50 for parking. Having to pay for Wifi and parking is a bummer, but it's right on the metro mover, and close the cruise ships. YES I USED THE PRICELINE LINK I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to support this forum.
  12. You're the bomb! :) I couldn't quite grasp the free re-bids until the last time I read it. I'd already bid $62, so I added 1 free rebid which I hadn't used because I didn't want to stay in that area(They didn't have any 4* hotels though), and upped my bid to $65. This is what I got: 4* Miami Downtown, Hyatt Regency Miami. 400 S E Second Ave, Miami, Florida. Check-In Date:Fri, Jan 15, 2010 / After 03:00 PM. Check-Out Date:Sat, Jan 16, 2010 / 12:00 PM I was so freakin' giddy I was bouncing up and down in my chair. That's $1 cheaper than I got a room at the Airport Wyndam, and that was a good price. I'd already checked out this hotel so I know they charge $12.50 for parking. This is right on the metro mover, and the whole deal. I'll also post this info on the wins topic. And of course I used the PRICELINE link from here. :)
  13. Thanks for fixing my entry. I was going to make 2 entries, and just let you delet one, but after reading some other entries figured it might be simpler to just let you fix that one. Thanks for all you do to help people get good deals on hotels. These are never places I could afford to stay without this site. :)
  14. I'd like to get a 4* for similar or better than what I got the Wyndam 3.5*. I understand that this being Friday could make it a little more difficult. I checked things like the goings on in Miami: 6 cruise ships, the Barnum and Bailey Circus, a Manhattan Transfer concert, The cruise line industry convention, and the franchise industry convention. Based on what was going on other weeks, this isn't very much. The Heat is playing in Houston so they aren't a problem. Is my guessing off base. You guys seem so knowledgeable on here, it's amazing. I usually try to do my own figuring, but you guys seem to have so much on the ball it's great. Of course I'll always use your link now I've finally figured out how to use it.
  15. On November 20th I bid $66 for a 3+1/2* in Miami airport area. The hotel I got was Wyndham Miami Airport, 3900 Nw 21St Street, Miami, FL 33142. Check-In: Thursday, January 14, 2010-04:00 PM Check-Out: Friday, January 15, 2010-11:00 AM :) My apologies, but I didn't notice that there was a link to PRICELINE when I bid, but subsequently sent a donation via paypal. That's pretty easy to do. :)
  16. I'm trying to bid on a 4* in Miami for the 15th of Jan. I've already got a room at the Airport Wyndam the 14th for $66 (3&1/2*). I wanted to hurry up and have arrangements for my first day down there so I took the $66. I've looked at the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, and it seems like the longer you wait the better your possibilities of getting a better price. I've been looking in the Airport, Coral Gables, and Downtown area. Wat are the recommendations about waiting, and how long? I've had very good luck in the past with priceline bidding the day before in Tampa, but you can't bid again if you miss.
