Renaissance Toronto Downtown Hotel 4 star Downtown Toronto South One Blue Jays Way, Toronto, ON M5V 1J4 Been at this hotel before. Great place. 9. Lovely. Got it in two bids. I researched on your site, and used your PRICELINE link. I bid $70 for downtown zone 5, refused. They counter offered with $81, I refused I added zone 4, bid $75. ACCEPTED!
  10. I've been there quite a few times. Confirmed: there's an underground connection between the city parking lot and the hotel. No need to use the valet service. Look for the hotel signs very soon after you drive into the parking lot. You should be able to park close to the Sheraton's underground connection. After that it's a 1 minute walk underground to the hotel. Note: be sure to remember exactly where your car is (colour, animal, number, level). I've found it to be a confusing parking lot. :)
  11. Your board and Priceline have saved me lots of dollars in the past. I figured I would post the bid history so people get an idea of how fast prices can go up at the last minute. In the end it all worked out for me, since I'll be enjoying the weekend closer to home instead. Thanks again for the great message board!
  12. Used your PRICELINE link. Wanted to book a last minute trip to Toronto for the long weekend in Ontario. Bids: (4* hotel) added zone: ------------------- Bid: $ zone 5 -- Downtown Toronto South -- $70 zone 4 -- Downtown Toronto North -- $80 zone 1 -- Brampton -- $90 zone 2 -- Burlington - Oakville -- $105 zone 3 -- Don Valley -- $116 zone 9 -- Oakville - Mississauga -- $130 zone 13 -- Toronto East -- $140 zone 14 -- Toronto West -- $150 -- ****GAVE UP**** For a 4 night stay that would have been over $600!!! I guess that's the price I pay for waiting until the last minute. But capitalism works both ways, so the price they pay is losing a sale since I just gave up this time. I'll go to Toronto another time, when the prices are within my budget.
  13. Researched your prices first of course. Used your PRICELINE link. Bids: zone 5 Downtown Toronto South $67 - refused added zone 4 Downtown Toronto North $76 - refused added zone 1 Brampton $81 - refused added zone 2 Burlington - Oakville $89 - refused added zone 3 Don Valley $96 - refused added zone 9 Oakville - Mississauga $106 --accepted Intercontinental Toronto Center [225 Front Street] Never been there. Hope it's nice! Thanks to your great site and PriceLine for all the savings I got from you guys!
  14. Since you've got plenty of time, I would wait it out, and try again every couple of days. It's possible that your weekend is a particularly busy weekend for some reason. In that case, you're out of luck and will have to accept paying more. But usually I'm able to get better prices than what you've had so far.
  15. Thanks! I read the entire thread, but I guess that to this day no one really knows. I'll consider experimenting in the future and post my results.
  16. Hello, I've used your site to research prices and used your links to bid on PRICELINE many times. One thing I wonder: how are hotels assigned? eg: I've won the Sheraton and the Hyatt (Toronto) in the past, so I know they both use PRICELINE. I usually start bidding at the lowest price and inch my way up. When doing this, I've gotten assigned the Sheraton quite a few times. It's a great hotel, but what if I want to increase my odds of getting the Hyatt next time? Will starting with a higher bid increase my chances? Anyone have any idea how PriceLine assigns the "wins"?
  17. Researched the prices here, expected ~$75/night for a 4*. Used your PRICELINE link as usual. Bids: - zone 5 Downtown Toronto South $67 - PriceLine counteroffered offered me $87 - I declined. - added zone 4 Downtown Toronto South $71 - added zone 1 Downtown Toronto South $75 Accepted! I've been there many times before. It's a very good hotel, with reasonably priced underground parking. I'm happy. Thank again!
  18. PriceLine is working again! Wohoo! I researched prices on your site, then used your PRICELINE link of course. Picked zone 5 Downtown Toronto South, 4* +, bid $60. Refused, but PriceLine offered me $75 counterbid. I know I could have refused and rebid when it's this early, but I opted not to. So I accepted PriceLine's counterbid, and the Sheraton accepted my bid. Which is great, because I like this hotel (I've booked through PriceLine before). Also, this hotel has great / cheap indoor parking available. A rare thing in Toronto.
  19. I tried to bid on PriceLine twice for this weekend. (see my "failed" thread) I've had great success in the past, but it was a bust this time. There must be something going on. Hope it's all back in order by the time I next have to visit Toronto.
  20. Strange. I've been using PriceLine and this site for quite a few times, and always got great prices and accurate predictions of the bidding strategy. Not this time. Yesterday, I checked out your site for info, and then went to PriceLine (forgot to use your links). Looking for Toronto Downtown, 4*, Friday March 4th to Monday March 7, 2011 Bids: zone 5 Downtown Toronto South $65 -- Refused added Downtown Toronto North $70 -- Refused added zone 1 $75 -- Refused added zone 2 $80 -- Refused added zone 3 $82 -- Refused added zone 9 $87 -- Refused added zone 12 $91 -- Refused added zone 13 $98 -- Refused added zone 14 $107 -- Refused added zone 15 $117 -- Refused added zone 7 $127 -- Refused added zone 10 $137 -- Refused no more zones! Failed bidding I noticed that PriceLine was offering a "direct buy" for Thompson Hotel for $157. 24 hours later, today: Tried again, remembering to use your PRICELINE link. I tried aggressive bidding: zone 5 Downtown Toronto South $75-- Refused added Downtown Toronto North $90-- Refused added zone 1 $120-- Refused added zone 2 $135-- Refused added zone 3 $141-- Refused Added 3.5*, price of $80 --Changed my star level-- Refused added zone 9 $101-- Refused At this point, I gave up. I went to the PriceLine section where they give a list of hotels and chose the cheapest one available downtown. Thompson Toronto, US$157. No idea why it was all out of whack with what I normally pay, and the info on this site (which indicated it would be around $70-$85). Still, thanks for all the other times your site site helped me!
  21. Oops, thought I had already put the dates in. It's from Fri Jan 14, 2011 to Mon Jan 17, 2011
  22. Researched prices on this board. Used your PRICELINE link obviously. Bid $75 for 4*, Toronto Downtown South. Refused. They countered with a $95 offer. I refused. I added Toronto Downtown North, and bid $81. Accepted! Renaissance Toronto Downtown Hotel -- 4 Star Downtown Toronto South One Blue Jays Way Toronto, Ontario M5V 1J4 416-341-7100 It's right inside the stadium. Never been there before. Reviews seem good.
  23. Back from my stay at the Hyatt --- very satisfied . The reviews on some other sites had me worried (various complaints). After staying there, I have no idea what the complainers are talking about. This is a great hotel, and at this price it's a great deal. The room is renovated in a very "modern" look, which admittedly is love it or hate it. TV is a 42" flat screen! Biggest of any hotel I've seen. Clock radio has an integrated iPod charger/interface. Bathroom: yes, it's smaller than average but perfectly OK. The room itself is large and clean; the lobby is gorgeous. Parking is $25/night (be sure to register your car!). Internet is available free at the large Starbucks in the lobby. The hotel is located across the street from some very good restaurants, and a short walk from everything else downtown. Room service was surprisingly good (better than the Sheraton Center). Would definitely stay there again. Thanks again to this site for helping me make a good bid.
  24. Researched prices on this site for a weekend in Toronto, Dec.10 to 13, 2010. Predicted $70 to $75 from my research. Used your PRICELINE link. I only bid on 4* hotels. Zone 4 (Downtown Toronto North), bid $60 - Rejected. Added Zone 5 (Toronto South), bid $65 - rejected Added Zone 1 (no 4*), bid $70 - rejected Added Zone 2 (no 4*), bid $75... but accepted by Hyaat Regency for $70 !?!?!? Not that I'm complaining. Never been to this hotel but it looks very nice. I'm happy with the deal, thanks to your great site and PriceLine!
  25. Researched prices on your board, I knew to expect $80 or $85. Clicked on your PRICELINE link. Bid on zone 5, Downtown Toronto North, $60. Refused. (Hey, a guy has gotta try! :) ) Added zone 4, Downtown Toronto South, $70. Refused. Added zone 1, Brampton, $75. Refused. Added zone 3, Don Valley, $80. Refused. Added zone 2, Burlington - Oakville South, $85. ACCEPTED! Confirmed: Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. I've been there before and liked it. Be careful guys, star levels in different zones are always changing. Be sure to recheck them every time before you start your bidding!!!
