  1. I am also in the market for these dates (I will start a new thread when I start bidding). I am trying to find out what convention is on. We are coming down from Canada for a few hockey games (way cheaper in the US!) Check the how-to threads: Priceline Tips I personally find that PRICELINE gets me better rates as such, I use PL exclusively. However, HOTWIRE can be easier to identify the exact hotel.
  2. I have also found that lower star ratings usually tend to offer more free amenities (if they have them) such as wifi/parking. Many other hotels' wifi may potentially be accessed from your hotel.
  3. Make sure you list your failed bids/rebids on here. It helps to give others an idea where to start. Thank you!
  4. Congratulations on your win. I and several members here stayed at this hotel in February. I was extremely happy with it. ($42 per) The resort fee covers the parking - very little in front and a short jog to a vast lot in the back. If you don't feel like driving to DL + parking they have a free shuttle every 30 minutes. Parking in DL is usually shuttle distance away.
  5. The lower the star rating, the greater the chance that parking is included. Try 3* for about $45 and 3.5* for $50. There are a few wins in that range for this weekend. To get the free rebid just add a zone that doesn't have as high a star rating as the area you desire.
  6. Wlecome to the forum! There are many members on this site more than happy to assist you in saving money. Not exactly sure which property you won but in any case all Holiday Inns are a fair walking distance from the Disneyland gates. There are many threads about the Disneyland area and ways to save money. Spend the time to read the reviews and you find lots of tips.
  7. Won this for $42 per night. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this hotel wasn't a 3* accommodation. I am not sure why this is only a 3* as it certainly is at least a 3.5*. Hilton staff seemed surprised when I mentioned to them that I had been told this was a 3*. This property appears to be an older renovated hotel. Parking at the Hilton is $20 per night which is steep considering EVERY property around there advertises for less. Best choice is the Clarion for $9.50 a night and is directly northwest of the Hilton. I didn't spend much time exploring but the staff I encountered were extremely friendly and went out of their way to assist. The restaurant sold chops and steaks ($30-50) by chef Remi DuBois and had a dress code. I spoke to the locals and found a great, little restaurant at the old, run-down Jet hotel 10 minutes walk north called the Happy Teriyaki. Price was low for entrees and drinks. Considering that the Hilton is directly across from the light rail, a major through-fare and the airport - I hardly heard a thing with the window closed. Free wireless compliments of the Holiday Inn! Located directly across from the hotel, the new light rail service to the city was enjoyable and cost efficient at $5 return. We took in two ball games, shopped/ate in the city. We checked out the fish market which was great. The only possible downside to this hotel (and I am really stretching this) is perhaps feeling a little under-dressed, CRT TVs (no flat screens) and parking. Overall I was very happy to stay there and will return in greater numbers.
  8. Title should be changed. Airport hotels would likely be won for $50 per night.
  9. Just got back from this hotel/trip. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this hotel wasn't a 3* accommodation. I am not sure why this is only a 3* as it certainly is at least a 3.5*. If there could be such a thing I would place it in the 3.75* rating. Hilton staff seemed surprised when I mentioned to them that I had been told this was a 3*. 10. I disagree. I went to Seattle for the very same reason and purposely stayed at the airport. A 3* hotel should be won for those dates for less than $50. (I paid $52 per night after taxes for a list $200 before tax). If you are using a car you will be charged at least $20 and another $20 at the game for parking. Safeco field isn't in walking distance from Pike Place so you'll still need transportation. A 3* in Pike Place area should be around $90 before taxes. Seattle has a nice, new light rail that takes ~30 minutes from the airport. Price is $5 round trip. A few more stops past Stadium and you are in downtown Seattle. You'll be paying ~$90 per night before taxes in Pike Place. See this thread for the exact dates, rating and area that you request: Priceline Downtown Seattle
  11. Using Kirkland as the free re-bid is what I was talking about. I am going to have a blast down there. Special promotion rates for Wednesday's nooner: (See Mariners.mlb.com for more info) Safeco Insurance Grand Slam Family Package The best deal in Baseball is back and now you can get a ticket, hot dog and Pepsi as low as $14 per person for families of 4 to 12! View Reserved $14* Field $28* Wells Fargo Terrace Club OF $34* *Prices increase day of game. Must purchase between 4 and 12 tickets to receive discount.
  12. Won with my initial bid @ $42 per night. Using this forum saved me a few extra $$$ as a few other posters won with 45-46 starting bids. This could be won at $40 and then add Kirkland area (*2.5) if it wasn't accepted. I am ecstatic as usual to be paying this little for a hotel that lists for 199.00. I used the Betterbidding.com's PRICELINE link as always. Because of this site and Priceline, I am making this a two day trip instead of driving down from Vancouver early in the morning to catch the noon Mariner's game and leaving later that night. I tried yesterday with $65 to get something in Lake Union/Pike Place/Space Needle areas but no takers for *3.5. I will take advantage of the tips section and use Park-and-Fly parking options, Light rail to the game & downtown for $2.50. 3pm check in - Noon check out
  13. Just got back from here. The bad: Not within walking distance of Disneyland. Television channels were very limited. Room safe didn't work. Security door lock was falling off. $12 resort fee for everyone regardless of whether you had a car, used a shuttle or the amenities. One time the shuttle was full as they sometimes shared with the Hyatt and Homewood, but another shuttle was added. That's about it. The good: Very nice looking lobby. 1 valet, 1 bellhop, 1-2 desk. Great pool, restaurant/bar. A mix between family and business customers as it was near the convention center. Any problem we had with the room was immediately fixed. Housekeeping was fantastic. Target and a dollar store were directly across the street. Lots of eating options nearby. Shuttle was on the :05 + :35 Parking really was no problem. Depending on the time of day we sometimes got parking in the very limited spots in front. There was parking directly behind the hotel but usually you did have to go on a bit of a hike to get a spot. I can see how this would be bad in peak usage. Overall, I was extremely happy with this property.
  14. Just returned from here. Checked in just past midnight. Lots of friendly, helpful staff. Airport shuttle every 15 minutes was great. Asked preference of one or two beds. Took the two beds. Turned out to be two double beds. Too tired to care. Lots of airport noise. Room was very dirty and very old. Mold in the grout. Lots of dust. Homeless people hanging around outside - approached my wife but no employees shooed them away. Lineup for daytime check out was long. Quite possibly the worst 4 star I have ever stayed in. Other than the lobby/restaurant/lounge everything appeared to be in need of renovating. Should have stayed at a 3.5* Dropped off my rental car at 1215am. Asked shuttle driver to drop me off near Westin and was no problem - saved me from going to airport to wait for the hotel shuttle. Tipped him nicely! Deluxe rented me a car that had expired tags (December 2009!). Needless to say I was a bit upset to be pulled over by the CHP. Good thing I brought my badge... it did give the kids a thrill and a story to tell...
  15. If your hotel doesn't have a shuttle, you might want to find a nearby hotel that does or a nearby rental car location. Take that shuttle - don't forget to tip your driver!
  16. Back from my trip to this hotel. The good: I had no problem getting preference of King or 2 Queens. Close to the Interstate 5. Very nice amenities and lots of friendly staff. Very clean, updated room was great with awesome views. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Finding free street parking was no problem in the evening. The bad: Hotel is not suited for families with children. Almost every amenity had a charge for usage. A bit of road noise from the nearby I5 highway. No other children in the hotel and the pool was filled with lap swimmers. My kids weren't comfortable playing in the pool due to this so they didn't use it. I have found that the lower the star rating the hotel has - the more free of charge amenities they include. I do regret getting a four star and I resolve to never stay anywhere over a 3.5 star in the future. San Diego: We went to Sea World as we had purchased a discount ticket from Universal Studios (US + Sea World for $109) prior to the unfortunate accident in Orlando. Feeding the dolphins was the best part. We left to take a Segway tour in downtown San Diego. This was the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend trying this. Very easy to learn and tons of fun.
  17. Glad that you are pleased with your win. Had you looked on the Priceline forums you would see that many of us have won this hotel for $42 for your dates. I happen to be staying at the same hotel as you for 2/16 to 2/23. I'm just not a fan of HOTWIRE as PRICELINE hotels in hot spots can sometimes be targeted and are a bit cheaper.
  18. I would highly recommend checking out the Orange County Priceline forum. Depending on your date of travel you could be saving more money there if you are willing to risk not getting one of the following hotels: Example Mid February prices 3* Hilton Garden Inn are $41 3.5* Crowne Plaza Resort are $42
  19. I agree with upping the star level. In some areas it is only a difference of a few dollars. If you absolutely must stay in a certain hotel, PRICELINE isn't for you. Try HOTWIRE as Gallus suggested. Failing all this, keep in mind that retail prices are usually negotiable. They are certainly open to coupons and promotion codes that can be found on the internet. Ask to speak to a manager to see if a better deal can be worked out. If you don't ask, you won't pay less. Example: "Super8 has a deal $50 per night, but I'd much rather stay your hotel for $60..."
  20. 3.5* Orange County (Disneyland-Orange-Garden Grove) Crowne Plaza Resort Anaheim $42 ... February 16, 2010 - February 24, 2010 I went straight for the $42 information that others won from this site. Got it on my first bid. I know there is a $12 resort fee but I am OK with that at this price and I plan on using all the amenities it covers. I am willing to pay the $10 for the mini-fridge but I am thinking a styro cooler might be a better option. Shuttle is every 30 minutes on the :05 & :35. There is a Target and a Dollar store across the street. Your Offer Price: $42.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 8 Subtotal: $336.00 Taxes and Fees: $54.32 Total Charges*: $390.32 I was going to pay ~$1K for 2* hotels on my trip so I am ecstatic to stay in fancier hotels at ~50% of the cost! :) And as always, I used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
  21. Parking isn't really free here as there is a 'Resort' fee of $12 per day which includes parking...
  22. Great deal on this property. I am staying in DL at the same time and might be your neighbour! I haven't yet bid on a DL hotel. Note that parking is $12 per day and the breakfast buffet is $10. $4 per adult to use the ART to DL. I do like that there is free internet, printing and even computers in the lobby area.
  23. This is one of the nicer hotels in vancouver and an excellent deal! :)
