  1. I bid over several days. It finally took $71 on the day before my intended visit.
  2. Bid $135 today and got this 4.5 star on first try. Previously, I tried for a 5* at the same price and it was rejected. I'm happy with the result.
  3. Here is the full list of amenities: Free Breakfast Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  4. Amenities: Free Breakfast, Airport Shuttle, Fitness Center, Pool(s), High-Speed Internet Access 100% satisfaction from customer review (this is confusing because I checked it on another computer and it said 90%). Anyway, this isn't a bad deal. I used a $10 coupon on their website. So, that made it even better.
  5. I have been bidding for about 2 weeks for a 4 star in this zone. Most bids were between $55-65. Today, I upped it to $66 and it took the bid. Priceline has been running an "express deal" for $75. So, the $66 may be the best that you can do for a 4 star in this area (unless the price drops on the day of travel -- which sometimes happens!).
  6. Great deal for this Marriott hotel. I live in Franklin / Cool Springs and we booked this room for an out of town relative.
  7. Yesterday, I went as high as $75 and it was rejected. Today, I started at $60 and it was accepted right away. This has happened to me before with this hotel. I think they "release" rooms into priceline at various times and you cannot predict when/if this may happen.
  8. For several years, when I bid 3.5* in Greenville, I always get this particular hotel. Usually, I can win it at anywhere from $45-65/nt. This time it was more difficult -- perhaps due to an event or something. I tried bids of $50-69 this whole week and nothing worked. Last night, I bid as high as $100/nt. Still, no success. Only today, two days before the date of the stay, I was able to get $80/nt on the first bid. This is much better than the market rates for hotels in the area. But, I wonder if I could have done better if I had started lower today. I suspect that the hotel may have "released" rooms into priceline that were not available earlier in the week.
  9. I was looking for a place to stay while traveling back from FL. This hotel is off I-75 about 15 miles south of Atlanta. A decent 2.5 star property. But, not the best Country Inn and Suites.
  10. Thanks. Very true.....for some relatives, it might be a good thing to end up at separate hotels! I've done a similar bid before for Greenville/Spartanburg since we usually go there over a holiday and need multiple rooms. For the past 2-3 years, the 3.5 star in that area has always been the Marriott. Hopefully, it will stay that way!
  11. This is the second win. I bid on a second room for a family member. Again, I won at $45/nt for the Marriott Greenville. Great win!
  12. I bid $45 for a 3.5 star hotel and received Marriott Greenville. Great hotel. I've stayed there many times before.
  13. Purchased two rooms at $50/nt at the Marriott Greenville, One Parkway East, Greenville, SC 29615 (3.5* hotel). I've stayed here before and it's a great deal for this hotel. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $50.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 2 Room Subtotal: $200.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $31.20 (USD) Total Room Cost: $231.20 (USD) By the way, I tried a $45 bid yesterday and it was rejected. Sometimes I've been able to get this one for $45. So, right now, you need to add up that extra $5 to win.
  14. On 6-24-10, I went on PRICELINE today to try to snag a last minute weekend deal on a Chattanooga hotel. I bid on 4, 3.5, and 3 star hotels at up to $70/nt (tried in the 50s, 60s too). Nothing. I read a post about trying a 2.5* in the downtown area because the Priceline options were fairly good and it was likely I'd end up with the Chattanooga Choo Choo. I took this advice and bid $45/nt and it was accepted for the Choo Choo. Not a bad deal.
  15. Thanks for the tip. I bid on priceline using your strategy and actually ended up with the Choo Choo (which, I am happy with).
  16. :) I was able to get a 3 star hotel (Marriott Greenville) near the Greenville / Spartanburg Airport (GSP) for $49.00 /nt. The Marriott is a good hotel with full fitness facilities and a pool. Lots of nearby restaurants on Pelham Rd. Good price for the hotel.
