  1. I've searched Hotwire, and what appears to be the Sheraton is coming up at $89. What appears to be the Omni is coming up at $169. Ultimately, price will be more important to me, so I'm prepared to risk the Sheraton if the price is right. I would be willing to pay a bit more for something like the Westin, but it's coming up at over $230, which is way too expensive for me.
  2. Hi, I'm looking to stay 2 nights in San Diego, December 26 and 27 at a 3* or more property, downtown/gaslamp district. I would like to spend $100 or less per night if possible, and I'm a bit worried about getting the Sheraton Marina, which I would like to avoid if at all possible. Any suggestions on a bidding strategy? Thanks!
  3. How difficult is it to get from Hoboken to Manhatten? Is it easy to get there late at night? How much does it cost? Thanks!!!
  4. It took a few tries, but I go the Park Central New York, Dec 27-30, at $150 / night. Is that a good deal?
  5. I had great luck on Priceline last year getting a 3* room at the same time for about $80 in MTS. I can't imagine getting a similar deal this year, but does anyone have a bidding strategy for a 3* or more for under $120 for these dates? MTE, MTW or MTS is good. Thanks!
  6. I just thought I would add a brief review of Hotel 5A now that I have finished my trip. Location of the Hotel 5A (MTS) is fine, but not great. It's about a 10 minute walk to Times Square and the Theatre district. It's very quiet around the hotel at night as there is really nothing going on there. So if it's not too cold or rainy, then you'll be fine. But if you like to be in the middle of the action, then this isn't the place for you. The lobby is very small, so when there is a group checking in or out it can get very crowded. The staff was cordial, but not overly friendly. Most importantly, the room itself was great, especially for the price we paid. The room is kind of small, but for Midtown Manhatten it was bigger than expected. The bathroom was spotless, and the counter, tub and toilet was clearly new. The bed was very comfortable. The carpet was old and shotty, but not dirty. So overall, this hotel was fantastic value. Decent location, staff was helpful (but again not especially friendly), and the room was great. Best value I've ever had in NYC.

  8. This was my first Priceline bidding experience. After getting nothing for about two weeks and having made a reservation at the 2* Milford Plaza on my own for 99$, I Bid for a 2.5* and the 5A come up with the message that I had been "upgraded" to a 3 star. Based on the review, I think the 5A is probably more like a 2.5*, but nonetheless I am thrilled to get a decent place in NYC at Xmas time for 88$!
