  1. I have a 4* showing up for 1/20-1/24 (4 nights). Price is $129. The amenities are just fitness, restaurant, business, Internet, which matches the Liason...BUT: It has a 4.5 on TripAdvisor and 95% of Hotwire users recommend it, based on 50+ reviews. Any guesses? I've been checking the Hotwire hotel list and none of the hotels' listed amenities match this TripAdvisor rating. Thanks as always for your help! I will use your links when I'm ready to bid, as always.
  2. I'm searching for Jan 14-17 (three nights), and there are few options coming up for Dupont Circle, where I'd like to stay. One of them is a 4*, fitness-restaurant-business-Internet, at $89. I know that a lot of hotels in Dupont Circle fit this profile, but the thing that's confusing me is that Hotwire is "still gathering reviews for this hotel." Would this suggest Dupont Hotel, which is newer? I'd still think they would have enough reviews for that one...any other guesses?
  3. Unfortunately, we weren't able to try this hotel due to the huge blizzard in Boston -- our flight was cancelled and couldn't be rebooked until three days later, so we had to stay home. I wanted to say, though, that Priceline has agreed to refund the Dupont Hotel reservation upon confirmation of my cancelled flight. That, at least, is a relief. I also communicated with the Dupont Hotel manager in advance of my stay (Scott Dawson) and he was extremely helpful and professional. Maybe another time..sad to miss this hotel stay.
  4. Just bumping this up because I just noticed that this hotel still isn't appearing on the Priceline hotel list...
  5. I think this is the first time I've seen the Hotel Dupont appear here for Priceline (I know people have gotten it on Hotwire). I haven't been to this new hotel before, and am actually pretty disappointed because I was hoping for the Palomar (where I've stayed on two or three other Priceline trips). I'll be traveling with my husband and our very active toddler, and from looking at the pictures on the hotel website, I have no idea how we're going to fit a crib or stroller in the room. The hotel looks chic, but the rooms seem very cramped compared to the nice big rooms at the Palomar. Plus, there are no bathtubs, just showers -- tricky if you're trying to bath a little kid. Oh well -- it was a good deal, since I had Priceline bonus cash. Price $90 a night (bid $80, Priceline added $10 a night bonus cash). I booked it using your PRICELINE link, as always.
  6. I usually use Priceline and am newer at Hotwire, so I apologize if I'm not phrasing my question correctly. I'm planning a trip to Washington DC for four nights, 12/28-1/1, and am trying to figure out what two hotels might be. I have always stayed at the Hotel Palomar, using Name Your Own Price, but am thinking it would be nice to try a new place for a change. The first hotel is Kennedy Center/GW University area, 4*, $99 a night, 95% positive Hotwire reviews Amenities listed are nonsmoking, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, Internet. The second hotel is Dupont Circle-Embassy Row, 3.5*, $79 a night, 90% positive Hotwire reviews Amenities listed are Boutique, fitness, restaurant, business center, Internet Any guesses? Thanks so much! I will be sure to reserve through your link, as always, and to update when I have finalized my plans.
  7. I've been watching NY prices for a while, but haven't been bidding because I'm on a budget and rates have been high. I finally freed up a Sunday night (much cheaper) and started bidding in Chelsea at $90, using your PRICELINE link. I was hoping to get the Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea, where I stayed last November for $80 -- it was a great hotel. When $90 wasn't accepted, I used two rebid zones that don't have 2.5* hotels (Hell's Kitchen and Coney Island) and bid up to $105 - all rejected. I waited 24 hours and then began bidding at $107, again using your PRICELINE link. I received a counteroffer that I could make another bid if I raised my price to $134, but instead I added Coney Island as a rebid zone (no 2.5* hotels) and bid $112. My bid was accepted at the new Hotel Indigo, a 3* that was just opening on the same street as the Hilton Garden Inn when I was last in NY. I'm very pleased - the Indigo looked really nice, and the location is great. Thanks, as always, for this site!
  8. An update: after checking around quite a lot (thanks for the heads-up about the Orbitz promo code!), I came to realize that the night of Monday 3/16 is REALLY expensive, and that the winter --> spring rates seem to change for most hotels around that time. At Hotel Palomar, for example, the rates change by over $100 a night for all dates after 3/15. So I decided to just shorten our trip by a night, and settled on bidding for Friday 3/12-Monday 3/15. Then, bidding through your PRICELINE link, I was able to get Hotel Palomar for $90 a night. Their website's rates for that night ranged from $139-$159. Thanks for your help.
  9. Hi -- I've been bidding without success and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts. I want to book four nights in downtown DC (Capitol Hill/Convention Ctr, Dupont, or White House/downtown) in mid-March. My potential dates are flexible: I could go pretty much anytime between March 13th and March 27th, though I definitely want my four nights to include two weekend nights. I've bid up to $95 so far for March 18-22, but still no luck (I was hoping to get Hotel Palomar, since I had a great 4-night stay there in December). I'd really prefer not to split my bids, since I'll be traveling with a baby and it would be a pain to pack up and switch hotels. Any advice on which dates would be cheapest within that timeframe? Thanks so much -- love this site -- and I will, of course, bid through the PRICELINE link and post my results. Edited to add: I was bidding for a 4*, and am really hoping not to go above $100.
  10. I loved my stay at the Hilton Garden Inn -- it's a great hotel, clean, good location, good service. You'll enjoy it. And that's a great price!
  11. Bid for yet another night at $51, accepted at the Renaissance. Used your PRICELINE link. Thanks.
  12. We stayed at this hotel this past weekend, and liked it so much that I just bid on another night there later this month. $51 accepted on first bid. Used your PRICELINE link. Thanks, as always!
  13. Was prompted to make a $22 bid increase at $85; added a zone and bid $90 instead. Accepted! Thanks for this great site. This is the hotel I was hoping to get.
  14. Dates: 12/12 - 12/16 2009. 4*, amenities shown are: fitness, pool, restaurant, business ctr, internet. 4.5/5 TripAdvisor. I think this is Hotel Palomar, but I'm not at all familiar with Washington DC hotels -- so how sure can I be? Are there lots of others with the same amenities? I'd absolutely love to receive the Palomar. It's available for $111 a night for these dates through Washington.org, but there's a $24 booking fee (plus taxes, of course) added to that... I know people have been receiving it on Priceline lately, but today I bid up to $85 for those dates in Dupont Circle and didn't have any success. Can anyone help? Thanks so much! I'll bid through the PRICELINE links, of course...
  15. $52 accepted for the Renaissance on first try. Dec. 5th, one night.
  16. You might try bidding for a 2.5* in Chelsea, which would give you a good chance of getting the Hilton Garden Inn. That's what I did recently, and I got three nights for just $80. Good luck!
  17. Actually, I tried to bid on the 16th-19th several times last week, up to $90 I think, and never succeeded --that's why I changed my dates to the ones above.
  18. I've been bidding for about a week on a different dates in Nov. and Dec., since my schedule is flexible -- but no success until yesterday, when I decided to try what I assumed would be less expensive dates (Sun-Wed before Thanksgiving). It's such a pricey time of year! I bid $80 in Chelsea only, hoping to get the Hilton Garden Inn since it's new-ish and has great reviews. Luckily, it worked out! I've only bid on 4* hotels in NY in the past, but am now rethinking that since I never use room service/minibars/pools etc. anyway when I'm in the city. I think $80 a night for this time of year is a great deal (and the hotel website showed a rate of $219 for those dates). Thanks for this wonderfully helpful site.
