  1. bid 3*, Cambridge-Brookline, @ $50 -> rejected rebid w/Medford-Somerville @ $60 -> rejected rebid w/South Boston @ $70 -> rejected added Copley @ $80 -> accepted for Marriott Cambridge $189.37 all said and done
  2. I started out aiming for 4* in Boston, i.e. A-Cambridge/Brookline, B-Copley, C-Downtown, using D-Medford/Somerville and E-South Boston as rebid zones. I tried the following combinations at $40,45,50,55,60,65,70,75,80,85 and was rejected on every attempt with no attempt being detected as a previous bid A AB AC AD AE B BD BE C CD CE ABD ABE BCD BCE BCDE ABCD ABCE ABCDE I then tried for 4* in Metro-West, aiming for Newton-Waltham, and using the other 3 as rebids, and I tried $40, 45, 50 ,55, 60, 65 and got rejected Went back to Boston proper and tried for 3*s going from 60, 65, 70, 75 and was rejected on all attempts. I then started a new bid and aimed for $70 w/just Newton-Waltham and was finally accepted. Felt very relieved because I was afraid I was not going to have a place to stay Thursday night. I have 30 emails from priceline within the span of 1hr - average 2 minutes / request. :)
  3. Trying to get the Coutyard Mariott Inn(reported to be 2.5*) in Brookline for 4/21-4/23. This used to be in a zone of its own but now is in the new Cambridge-Brookline zone that ranges from 1* to 4*. I'm think I start w/2.5* and work my way up the star levels as there are no other zones that have only 2* or less... btw... why hasnt the priceline hotel list been updated to reflect the new zones?
  4. the room was decent. much smaller than what I expected from a "4*", though it is in downtown. the bathroom was much smaller than the one in Hotel@MIT. Also, the desk chair in the room was not a real chair, it was one of those chairs that you might get when you're in a large conference hall, the stackable kind, and looked like it had been pulled from a conference hall. the pool/fitness room is a really inconvenient place - 6th fl., and you have to walk down 2 long hallways and 2 sets of long stairs to get to it. Didn't see a sauna or hot tub either. If you park, don't park in the garage that's attached. Go around the corner to the Lafayette Garage, its only $10/night instead of the rediculous $26/nite. Or, find a meter to park at overnite if you're going to leave before 8am, and park after 8pm - totally free!
  5. This was a toughy. started @ 4*, $40 w/Cambridge -> rejected went to $47 w/S. Boston -> rejected went to $55 w/Medford -> rejected closed window started @ 3*, $40 w/Cambridge -> rejected went to $47 w/S. Boston -> rejected went to $55 w/Medford -> rejected -> offered immediate rebid if I raised $13 -> didnt want to pay that much closed window started @ 4*, $55 w/Cambridge went to $60 w/S. Boston -> rejected went to $70 w/Medford -> rejected added Copley -> rejected added Downtown -> Accepted Summary: Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $210.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $36.28 Total Charges: $246.28
  6. the areas have been changed all around boston. for one, Cambridge has been melded w/Brookline
  7. Started @ $95 w/MTE + 4*, rejected $100 + one of the 3* zones, rejected $105 + one of the 3* zones, rejected $110 + one of the 3* zones, Accepted <--- I didn't do the actual bid, my girlfriend and her sister bid for someone else, they're just too lazy to reg for an acct here. thanks again bb!
  8. dates: Friday, 2/25 - Sunday, 2/27 I'm coming up with friends for the Magic Hat Mardi Gras thing and to do some snow sports. Glad to hear that the sheraton is better, I had read a review off the sheraton that claimed that the beds and mattress were just a joke. I'm also hoping to sneak a usage on my Starwoods card when I go up.
  9. Got the Sheraton Burlington for $45/night/room, 2 rooms, '4' adults, for 2 nights. started at $35 w/Burlington, rejected added Montpelier/Barre, $45, accepted. thinking I should've went to $40 instead... was hoping to get the Wyndham instead, but no luck there. Based my bid on what I saw via another priceline discussion website where someone got the Wyndham for $51 for 1/21, and here I saw that someone got rejected for a 3* for $50, so I figured I had plenty of breathing room. Nonetheless, $45/night/room for 6 adults is chump change. I just hope those floor carpets are mighty thick.
  10. easy, the hynes is roughly a few minutes walk from the Hynes/ICA stop on the green line. To get to the theater district, you have two choices: take the green line inbound to bolyston, and when you walk out of the station, either turn left, and go straight (you'll be crossing the street) and walk down to essex street where there's a theatre, the arcade, and the hyatt hotel, or walk straight ahead two blocks to stuart st. where there's the other theatre area, and some restaurants to your right down the street. www.mbta.com <-- they have a route planner if you want to use it.
  11. I tried again for Back Bay, aiming for $80 but failed: Back Bay 4* @ 60 -> rejected added Chestnut Hill @ 70 -> rejected added Medford @ 75 -> rejected added South Boston @ 80 -> rejected So I went for Cambridge and got accepted @ 60: Cambridge 4* @ 50 -> rejected added Chestnut Hill @ 55 -> rejected added Medford @ 60 -> accepted so there it is. Final total is $143.87 after tax and fees, so its like 72/night.
  12. I started my original bid w/downtown and back bay selected. I am willing to go up to $90, but would like to aim for $80 first. have you (thereuare) looked into providing additional tools for the bidding community here, i.e. price averages for tickets, hotels, cars, etc? Do you feel that the addition of such tools would definitely dillute the community experience in that people will feel less compelled to post/participate? I would be interested in pursuing such a project, and may just do so for the heck of it, but would love to help out a community such as this one in doing so.
  13. I actually bit the bullet already and started on a course of action, but hopefully, I left myself some breathing space: started @ $45 -> rejected went to 50 w/addition of medford (2.5* max) -> rejected went to 60 w/addition of brookline (2.5* max) -> rejected options left: south boston (2.5* max), or cambridge (4* max), but also ok for my gf to stay at. I'm thinking i should go cambridge first so that I can get a free rebid on that when i use south boston for a free rebid...
  14. Hi, its my first post here and I'm trying to get a room at a nice 4* for my girlfriend from 1/14 to 1/16. I see that many people have gotten around $70 for several of the 4* hotels in the area and so I'm hoping to manage at least the same. How should I proceed? Thanks!
