  1. You have done really well! Don't think I've ever seen that particular hotel going for less than 78 dollars. It's highly ranked in the reviews. Only quibble with a few guests was that they were not too keen on the location, as they would have preferred it a little more central, but there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel every half hour to and from Central Station and also a tram closeby. On PRICELINE it seems easier to find lower rates when one or two nights are booked, but five become a bit more tricky. Some people break up the number of nights booked, but that's not for everybody. Enjoy wonderful Amsterdam!

  2. All the rooms on Priceline, Name Your Own Price, have only double room rates. You will therefore be paying for something more than you may require. Also to note is that breakfast is never included in the price. So all that has to be factored in when you are making up your mind. Generally, time of the year will also make a difference to prices. And some cities are more expensive than others.

  3. Yes, I totally agree with the advice from wrob. The area in Centre City South on Priceline will not give you hotels in central Amsterdam, which is your preferred area. At the moment most 4 * hotel "bidders" seem to be getting the NH Amsterdam Centre Hotel, which is nearer the Museum area, but still pretty central. I have stayed there myself in October. Occasionally, the Moevenpick turns up when the bids go higher. Knew nothing about Priceline, Name Your Own Price, until I read at length about it, on the Tripadvisor Amsterdam Forum.
