  1. bnebased, As someone who has yet to use Hotwire, I would like to ask you, if the $127 paid for the Grand Hotel Amrath has additional charges (fees or taxes) added to that price. Enjoy Amsterdam! I have stayed in NH Amsterdam Centre Hotel, but I think the Amrath will add even more to your enjoyment.
  2. There is a big international conference taking place in Amsterdam from Sept. 10 - 14 and some stay on for a couple of days or so. Even bidding of around $100 dollars on Priceline for that time has often not been successful. I think you are in luck to have secured a room for that particular rate and that bidders later this year will pay much more.
  3. Barcelona and Rome are both expensive cities for hotels. Seldom will you get "cheap rates" for them on PRICELINE, which is in complete contrast to PRICELINE rates for hotels in Prague, Lisbon or Amsterdam. I too, agree with previous contributors that Rome "deserves" more of your time than Barcelona. Good Luck with the bidding!
  4. Do you mean the hotel was booked for dates in February instead of March?
  5. Hi shadwell Lad Can I ask if your Bilderberg Garden successful bid was $87 (mentioned today) or $91 (mentioned on Jan 8th post) or are they before and after bidding rates with taxes and charges added?
  6. You have done really well! Don't think I've ever seen that particular hotel going for less than 78 dollars. It's highly ranked in the reviews. Only quibble with a few guests was that they were not too keen on the location, as they would have preferred it a little more central, but there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel every half hour to and from Central Station and also a tram closeby. On PRICELINE it seems easier to find lower rates when one or two nights are booked, but five become a bit more tricky. Some people break up the number of nights booked, but that's not for everybody. Enjoy wonderful Amsterdam!
  7. All the rooms on Priceline, Name Your Own Price, have only double room rates. You will therefore be paying for something more than you may require. Also to note is that breakfast is never included in the price. So all that has to be factored in when you are making up your mind. Generally, time of the year will also make a difference to prices. And some cities are more expensive than others.
  8. Yes, I totally agree with the advice from wrob. The area in Centre City South on Priceline will not give you hotels in central Amsterdam, which is your preferred area. At the moment most 4 * hotel "bidders" seem to be getting the NH Amsterdam Centre Hotel, which is nearer the Museum area, but still pretty central. I have stayed there myself in October. Occasionally, the Moevenpick turns up when the bids go higher. Knew nothing about Priceline, Name Your Own Price, until I read at length about it, on the Tripadvisor Amsterdam Forum.
  9. I wonder should this hotel be in the Frankfurt, Germany link?
  10. Bid in sterling for 4* hotel. Check-in October 12th 2009, Check-out October 15th.
