  1. Best price I can see elsewhere is about $185 USD, so I think it's a decent deal.
  2. Any thoughts on the original query? Thanks, Spinner
  3. Zones bid: Bastille - Bercy Champs Elysees - Arc De Triomphe Eiffel Tower Latin Quarter Montparnasse Opera Quarter West - Jardin des Tuileries St. Germain £240GBP (last year's cost for 2 rooms, 2 nights) = $375 £540GBP (target price for this year for 3 rooms, 4 nights) = $840 Thanks.
  4. Hi all, I have a slightly tricky bidding scenario. My party is going to Paris for 4 nights: Thursday 13th September - Monday 17th September. There are 4 of us, but one of us needs his own room. This means I have to bid for 3 rooms on Priceline/Hotwire. Good deals for that price period seem hard to come by. Last time I went to Paris, around the same time last year (October 2011), it cost about £240GBP for 2 rooms for 2 nights for a lastminute.com Top Secret deal (Novotel Vaugirard). By my calculations, scaling up, 4 nights for 3 rooms (one single occupancy) should cost around £540GBP...but I'm struggling to find anything decent in that price bracket. I've bid on Priceline for a 3-star in zones 2, 5, 6, 8, 11, 13, and 15. I've bid up to £35 ($55), with no joy. Has anyone any advice for opaque or non-opaque bookings I could make? Thanks, Spinner
  5. Hi, I made a final bid of $71 on Priceline for 4*, but got rejected. Instead I went and booked the Crowne Plaza with a 10% discount code I found online, works out at about
  6. We need minimum three, preferably four beds, so I think we'd have to book 2 rooms for 5 adults to get enough beds. Yes, Crowne Plaza looks the best option at the moment. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the rate I had quoted before (~$105) on Venere.
  7. I think, from my research, this might have been the Holiday Inn Paris-La Villette. However, we ended up renting a self-catering apartment instead. Thanks, Spinner
  8. Hi all, Four of us are travelling to Zurich on Sunday 16th October for one night. Ideally we need four single beds, but two of us would share if needed, so we need minimum 3 beds. Would like somewhere fairly central, ideally not too far from the Zurich HB railway station. Can walk a bit though (so long as it is not in the airport area, for instance.) Crowne Plaza seems a reasonable rate - about 184CHF on Venere for two twin rooms =
  9. Hi guys, Any idea what the above hotel is? 2 rooms, 8 people - $175 per night. Amenities: "Fitness Center", "Restaurant", "Business Center". What is the area like? Thanks for any help, Spinner
  10. I don't know if it'll still be the same one now, but I can confirm that when I booked it, it was indeed the Diagonal Mar.
  11. Hi there, I'm trying to work out what the above hotel could be. Amenities: Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Business, Laundry, Internet. Cost: $156/night for a triple room, 31st Oct 09 - 3rd Nov 09. I'm thinking the Hilton Diagonal Mar...is that unlikely? Thanks, Spinner
  12. Oh, I see now, thanks. I was planning on going for 2 rooms anyway (none of us are children). I'll try some more bidding!
  13. I don't understand that - what fee? I booked the earlier Priceline NH Forum room for just myself - are you saying they can charge under-occupancy fees? I thought Priceline said the rooms could accommodate up to two adults. :) Thanks, Spinner
  14. Still good advice and may not be too late: I had looked on lastminute at that hotel you think is AC but couldn't work out which it was. Think it may have been a little outside my price range as well, but would have considered it, thanks. I still need to also book 3 nights for 3 people 2009-10-31 to 2009-11-03, so will keep looking. I see there's a $156 4.5* room on Hotwire for Forum Area - Sant Mart
  15. Thanks, where are those pockets generally? I'm now looking on Hotwire at a 3.5* hotel for $69/night in Sant Gervasi - Gr
  16. Hi all, Could you recommend a strategy for bidding on 4*/5* hotels in Barcelona? 3* might be good enough as well, am most interested in knowing whether there are any areas I should definitely avoid. 1 room needed for 3 nights next week: 28th Oct-31st Oct. Would like a reasonably quiet room in a safe area with easy access into the city - not bothered if I have to travel in on the Metro. Apologies if I'm not conforming to protocol - please put me right if that's the case! Thanks, Spinner
