  1. I thought I would let you know this price I got the other day in case someone else is interested in that time. I first bid MTE at 115.00 and the added MTW at $120.00 and got the Grand Hyatt. With taxes the final amount came to $849.91 for 6 nights. It's kind of early but, I was afraid that hotels would fill up at that time so, I went ahead and bid. I'm happy with the results. I really needed it for 7 nights but, the hotel prices are much higher on the 28 th so, I'm either going to bid separately for the 28th or just pay regular price. I take the chance of having to switch hotels though. I was happy with this price.
  2. I wanted to add to this thread that I never received the $30.00 rebate. I followed the instructions to a tee but, they never credited me my $30.00. I did it back in April and it's now July, no money. I didn't recieve any feedback either. I wonder how many other people didn't. I don't put too much fath in these rebates. :)
  3. I started with 65.00 rejected, used free rebid zone 70.00 rejected, rebid at 75 rejected, 80.00, then 85.00 was accepted on the last rebid zone for the Westin on March 12th for one night. We are going to a Spurs game and I'm very happy with the result. 85.00 22.19 taxes and fees $107.19 for a grand total. :)
  4. My supervisor told me today that our school district won't allow us to use Priceline . :) She told me the reason but, I don't recall it for some reason . I think I was real busy when she told me. It had something to do with taxes. Anyway, I wanted to follow up and let you know that I won't be bidding on those rooms after all. Thanks, though for helping me.
  5. Absolutely, I will post my results. I probably won't do this until next week. I need to be sure of all the rebid zones. Good point about the taxes and fees. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks, for all your help !This may be a bit stressful. :)
  6. Thank you for your concern. I did talk to my supervisor again of which she was favorable to using Priceline. We looked at the list of four star hotels that Priceline has and they are all near the Convention Center. Emily Morgan is 3lbks, Marriott Rivercenter is real close, so would be the other Marriot. The Hyatt and the Hilton are within walking distance. Every 4 star hotel listed on the Downtown - Rivercenter is located close to the Convention Center.
  7. As far as I know it's okay with my supervisor. She currently has back up reservations at the Drury Inn for $139.00 a night which is the reason we have to double up. I mentioned Priceline and she said for me to go for it . She does hesitate when I mentioned to her that we take a chance of splitting up the group but, I don't see what difference that would make as long as we are at the conference together. I assume the convention center is close by the hotels on the Riverwalk .
  8. Well you are just wonderful! :) We are going to a conference there at the convention center. The dates will be Feb.23rd checking out the 26th. We want a four star hotel , on the riverwalk and the budget would be around $70.00 a night , maybe start at $ 65.00 and could possibly go as high as $80.00. Since, there is a conference I hope there won't be problems with availabilty. Thank you so much.
  9. Hi, I need to get a San Antonio hotel on the riverwalk in Feb. This is for a group of teachers that would like their own room but, would like to stay in the same hotel. The number of rooms would be eight. I noticed that you can bid for more than one room at a time but, would they be all in the same hotel? Thanks :)
  10. I will be in Las Vegas July 3-6. I am considering using priceline to go for the Venetian. I have a back-up reservation at TI for $367.00 including tax for the entire stay. I would like to get the Venetian at that price or of course lower. The only way I can think of to do that , is to bid on the Venetian twice, the first time for the 4th through the 6th, which it is now $153.00 on hotwire(123.00 for the 5th ) and then bid on the 3rd after that . Hotwire has it at $173.00 for the 3rd . I thought about bidding up to 110.00 on July 4- for two nights and then bid on July 3 up to $122.00. From reading this forum , I think that is what you call a split stay. I don't want to bid on the dates all together because, of the Sat. night stay which would be more expensive. Can you do this ? What happens at the hotel when they see that we have reservations for one night and then reservations for two nights. Does this become a pain? Have other people done this type of strategy? I'm curious as what would happen , for instance would we have to check in and out again of the Venetian by doing this or could I call ahead after doing this to make arrangements of staying in the same room in order to avoid checking in and out. I know it's early to trying to this but, I want to have a plan ahead of time and find out if it's doable. I also, realize that I may not get the 3rd at all of which we would have to stay at TI one night and then move. Thanks, in advance for your help.
  11. What's the buzz? , tell me what's happening, what's the buzz ?, tell me what's happening, what's the buzz?..................
  12. I started bidding at $45.00 and kept rebidding using free rebid zones until I was accepted at $60.00 . Date: November 26 for one night. price: $60.00 taxes and fees $16.61 total price $76.61 :) I'm happy with the outcome. Does anyone know what it costs by chance to park here and how far the SBC Center is ? I guess I could just call the hotel . I'm going to a Spurs game. Thanks I also, went through savingsbarn.com and entered their $25.00 contest.
  13. I realized I didn't put the dates., July 20th through July 26th, 6 nights.
  14. I placed my bid through savingsbarn.com. First bid was cps $120.00 , rejected then I rebid using the upper west side and increased my bid to $125.00 , was accepted at the Swissotel New York, the Drake. I had not considered this hotel before. I was expecting something like the Le Parker Meridian or Intercontinential. I hope this is a good one. I'll check the reviews. the taxes were $125.97 and the total charges were $875.97 Thanks for your help.
  15. That's great !Thanks, so much for your help. I will probably do this , this weekend so, I will try to get your help in real time. I think I will leave out Midtown East for now. I will do CPS at 125.00 then do free rebid at $130.00,sound like a winner? I will go through savingsbarn.com and post results to this forum. I hope those amounts are reasonable.
  16. I need to submit a bid to Priceline soon so, this is the strategy I came up with. I have never done this before. Please, submit your opinion. Thanks 1. bid $120.00 5* Midtown East. I DON'T want the Grand Hyatt I hope bidding here just for the Waldorf Towers won't allow that to happen. 2. If rejected $125.00 CPS for a 4* hotel(This is what I want the most) 3. Bid if rejected $130.00 add free rebid zone which is the upper west side. I understand that if I bid here, there is NO WAY I will receive anthing here because, I'm searching for a four star hotel , right? Also, I want to make sure I won't get anything but a five star in midtown east. Just because I select a four star in another zone, it doesn't mean I will get a four star in midtown east will it? Thanks, so much for your help!
  17. I'm still looking for a room on hotwire in NYC and found several rooms that claim to be "customer favorite" hotels. One in particular is Central midtown 4*,rest. fit. internet. spa . bus. then they have customer favorite. Does this mean that's a solid bet that you will recieve a terrific hotel? I still feel uncomfortable to picking blind but, if it's a customer favorite , I may feel better chosing that one. Have you had much experience with these types of hotels? Thankyou. Also, if you happen to have any knowledge of what this hotel is , I would appreciate it.
  18. I pursued this hotel further and I think I have it fiqured out. I was reading about boutique hotels in NYC from the Tripadvisor website and it featured the Hudson, Morgans, Paramount and Royalton. These were listed as "Boutique" hotels. Expedia doesn't list the Hudson as a boutique but , this other website did. I think it's the Hudson, because of the same amenities, rest. , fit. and bus. plus a boutique. It's also, listed as a four star hotel on Expedia. The hotel has poor reviews on tripadvisor so, I'm not going to take this chance. The location fits the bill too.
  19. One more question before I go for this hotel , how possible is it that I may get a room with two twin beds? I don't mind two doubles, King, or queen but, what makes me hesitate is getting either two twin beds or one double. Does that occur often with hotwire? It seems this hotel is going much lower than other hotels for 4* than I have seen. It makes me wonder what's wrong with it. Thanks for your help.
  20. You know it's strange that another hotel is listed above it 4.5 B, Fit, Bus, Rest. at $163.00 . It's the very same amenities and Boutique in Mid. Central nyc. Is it possible they are both the same hotel but, the 4* one has a not as nice room or something.? Or do you think they are entirely different hotels?
  21. Anyone have any idea yet? I searched this on Expedia and there doesn't seem to be that many boutique hotels with a four star rating. I can't fiqure it out. Should I go ahead and take it? With 104.00 , that's a very good price for a four star hotel.
  22. I'm wondering what this hotel is ? Can you help me out. Its a bontique, fitness center, resturant and business , 4 starred in Midtown Central. Thanks
  23. This hotel is in Times square 4* $133.00 and the icons are Resturant, swimming, fitness and business. I have a feeling it's the Crown Plaza times square because of the swim icon. There aren't many hotels in Times Square that have a swimming pool so, isn't this a strong possiblity? Thanks Trish
