  1. At the last moment we decided that we wanted to go to Tampa, Florida for the weekend and I bid on a hotel the day of travel. After researching the forums I bid on a *3.5 for the Airport area in Tampa for $45.00. Based on the research, I was somewhat confident that I would get a positive response but you never know. when bidding On the first attempt, my bid was accepted and it was upgraded to a *4 star. Wow was I surprised!! Not knowing what I would find based on a few of the reviews that I had read, I was thrilled when we checked in and it was very nice and location excellent. Many reviews indicated that there were some problems, I found none. They even asked for my rewards number at check in. I rate the hotel and expereince as very good or (4.5 out of 5). Again, this was all possible because of the Better Bidding members' feedback and forums and strategies given in the past. Thanks again. BMG
  2. This is just information for those possibly looking to book rooms in Paris in October. I saw information that PRICELINE was offering rooms in October for discounted rates. In looking at the information, 4* rooms are avaialble for Oct 13-17 for particiular areas for $109 and October 22-27 for $139.00. I am travleing to Paris in October and won a bid on PRICELINE for far more so perhaps someone can benefit. Up to 58% Off 4-Star Paris Hotels October! 4 days left A special deal from Priceline. Deal ends: 10/2/2011. Why We Love This Deal Head to Paris - the city of fine wine and romance - from $109/night at a 4-star hotel! You're saving up to 58% off the regular rate! Stay from October 11 - 17 or 22 - 27, 2011. Hurry, this deal ends October 2nd. I found this on PRICELINE website . Good luck.
  3. I have been watching and studying the bids for Paris for several weeks. I was beginning to get antsy either though I had some time to acquire a room. It seems that the prices would never go down. However, with my bid and another winning one within the last week it does seem that prices may be going down. My bidding history was: 5* @ 125.00 rejected Champ Elysees waited and rebid for same area *5 @ 130.00 rejected Champ Elysees, read some more and decided that the price of $140.00 was unreasonable for a *5 so then decided to add *4 added *4, @140.00 rejected Champ Elysees and Eiffel Tower *4 at 150.00 Champ Elysees and Eiffel Tower rejected waited to rebid for same area *4 at 160.00 Champ Elysees and Eiffel Tower rejected , waited to rebid for same area *4 at 170.00 rejected Champ Elysees and Eiffel Tower waited to rebid for same area *4 at 180.00 rejected Champ Elysees and Eiffel Tower waited to rebid for same area *4 at 185.00 accepted Champ Elysees and Eiffel Tower . I am a bit disapointed because I did see today that someone won a bid earlier in the week for about 135.00 in another area. Don't you always want to get the lowest price, but that does not always happen. My husband and I talked and decided that based on earlier information that in October the rates appear to be a bit higher to bid at a higher rate so I went for it at $185.00. That being said, based on Hotline prices using this link for a *4 star at $256.00 this is still cheaper. I wanted to share my experience since I have put some work into this process and others may have luck and can develop a strategy to win a bid, maybe even getting it a bit cheaper. I love the feedback from that is received via this site.
  4. Thank you because of the ratings and research on other sites, I believe that I will try to locate another property. There does seem to be consistent issues among those reviewing the location. Thank you for your assistance. I will use the links provided to search for additional properties.
  5. Yes, I am using Hotwire from this site , and now it shows $50.00 for Beaufort area hotel with the same icons that I mentioned earlier. It will be for 2 adults only.

  7. I will be traveling on a cruise leaving from Barcelona in October 22-23, pre-cruise and post-cruise for Nov, 4th. On Hotwire, using your link I have found the following informaion and need help. Pre-Cruise October 22-23 3* at $105. 8. After receiving all the good advice, I decided to go on the web site and see what the Renaissance had to offer. I went with it as I could get points for my stay and breakfast and I was a bit concerned about the selection that I would possibly receive. The advice was excellent as it generally is and I learn so much from these posts. I wanted to share the outcome with you so it could be closed. Thank you.
  9. I need a hotel for Sept 18 th in Barcelona Spain post-cruise for one night and likely near the airport. I did see something on HOTWIRE for a 3.5 star hotel at the airport for $109. Seems hotels are high for this date and going fast. I would rather have at least a 4 star but if I can't will settle for the 3.5*. Any suggestions. I will be taking an early morning flight on the 19th and it is more conveient staying close by or does it matter? The price may dictate where I stay. Thanks for your feedback and sugggestions. bmg
  10. I had a $50.00 Bonus credit that was due to expire today for Priceline and when I pulled it up to use it stated that it had been used. I had not used it so it was useless. I had to make the arrangments without it. Just wanted you to know that I had a similar experience.
  11. Wanted to report a win of a bid for Le Meriden in Barcelona Spain for Sept. 7 for one night. On the first bid it was accepted. I knew I was bidding a little higher than the last Le Meriden bid but was trying to get the W. However, I am very satisfied as the post indicates that this hotel is more accessible and in looking at reviews for the hotel, which were good, they said that it was more accessible as well. When the bid was accepted, a pop up came up for airport shuttle transfer services to the downtown location with a price of $27.99 per person. It indicates that at lest 3 stops will be made. Is it a good idea to pre-pay for this servicese and the total cost for 2 people will be $56.00 which seems high. Does anyone have expereince with this and is this a good price. Okay, I need a hotel for Sept 18 th for one night and likely near the airport. I did see something on hot.ire for a 3.5 star hotel at the airport for $109. Seems hotels are high for this date and going fast. I would rather have at least a 4 star but if I can't will settle Any suggestions. I will be taking a early morning flight on the 19th and it is more conveient staying close by or does it matter. The price may dictate where I stay. Thanks for your feedback.
  12. Wanted to make a report and then give you an update. I did win the bid for Le Meriden Barcelona on Sept. 7th for $160.00 on Priceline. I will report the thread there but wanted you to know since you gave me great advice. At the last moment, I bid a bit higher than the last bid of $145.00 in an attempt to get the W. It seeems everyone who won bid between $155-$162) However, I am vey satisfied with the win and for your help. As you know, I also need a room for Sept 18th for one night. I have been told and learned that the rates are higher on that day, although I did see someone win a bid for the W on the 19th. Having said that I am looking at a Hotwire hotel using your link and need help idenfitying it. Because we are looking to stay in the airport area as we have an early flight I am inerested in learning the name of this hotel. The icons on the 3.5 star site lists at rate of $109.00: Airport Shuttle Fitness Pool Restuarant Laundry All help is appreciated. Do yo think I will find a better option on Priceline for the area. I will also post the win on Priceline. bmg
  13. Thanks. I will heed your advice. I will let you know what I end up with.
  14. In regards to the W for the 7th, would that be placing a bid on PRICELINE for the $162-165 or just purchasing it outright. I had checked all of the inquiries and didn't see anything for PRICELINE at that price which really seems great given the property. If so I would much prefer trying for W instead of either paying more fr the same hotel thru HOTWIRE or gambling and getting something else. Am I understanding that Priceline for a 5 star the hotel is generally the W. If it is a bid, then I see why you are saying it may be problematic for the 18th. Thanks so much. I hope that my questions makes sense. bmg
  15. Sorry, guess I have been on the net too long. It is possibly for both days. Pre-cruise date 9/8 ( for 1 night) and post cruise 9/18 (for 1 night). We may have to stay on the 9/18 because flights are few so I was wondering if we have to make the transactions separate since they will be spread out. Thanks.
  16. In using he HOTWIRE link yes it shows it is for the 18 and older. It also show a 4.5 overall satisfaction. I also asked to be made aware when changes occurred in the price and to keep me abreast of any changes. Tonight I received a notice that the hotel had been reduced to $169.00- however when I opened it it shows a $183.00 price. Any suggestions. Thanks.
  17. We are looking for a hotel in the downtown location of Barcelona Spain. We are traveling for a cruise which leaves Sept. 8 and probably will need a hotel at the beginning and then when we return on Sept 18. I am seeing a 5 star hotel with the following and need some help identifying it. Any help is appreciated. Also, does this price appear right. Will we need to bid on two separate times since we are in need of a hotel at both ends. 5 Star Hotwire Boutique Ocean Front Fitness Center Pool Restaurant It is listed at 183.00 which seems a bit high. Does anyone have experience with this hotel. Thanks very much. bmg
  18. Since you were not familiar with either of the properties an dI have had some bad experiences, I found on line a new property The Strand on 37th St. for $190.00 with good reviews. I had good experience and perhaps it will show up on the listing. I have always been plesed with the recommendations that werr given at your site. Thanks.
  19. Thereuare I did not realize that a response was needed. However, this time I used the HOTWIRE link and I replied to your message today. I don't see it so I will restate it. I need help identifying the following hotels: Soho area, $199.00 4 star Bed Choice Fitness Center Pool Business Center Restaurants High Speed Inernet Access Tennis Nearby Children Activities Program 85% viewers recommend Also: Time Square, 3.5 star, $132.00 Theater District Boutique Complimentary Breakfast Internet Access Restaurant Still gathering information on property Thank you for your assitance.
  20. I need help identifying a Hotwire hotel in New York Soho area 4 Star at $119.00 which lists: Fitness center Pools Business Center Restuarants High Speed Internet Access. Recommended in 85% of reviews. I am loking for it for check in February 24-check out 26. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
  21. Well finally the bidding is over, I wanted to report that I won the bid on Priceline on a 3* for the Radisson at 8400 International Dr. Orlando for this period. I know that I started inquiring about Hotwire hotels and didn't know if I should start another thread or let you know the conclusion of my earlier inquiry. Because I was not comfortable with the hotels after researching the reviews on Trip Advisor I decided to explore Priceline. While the HOTWIRE prices were suitable, I looked at the bids that were won from Priceline. Also, it seems at times that Priceline prices were a bid lower at times. This may or may not be true. Initally, I bid for $36.00 for a 3.5 star in Sea World, and Sand Lake Corporate Park, rejected, Next I added Universal for $40.00 with and this time a 4.0 star appeared, reected. I then added a 3 star at $38.00 and it was accepted for the Radisson. One question, I tried to remove the 4 star and the Universal area once the process started but was unable to do so. Is this how it works. I also won a rental car Standard for $18.00. All in all you take a gamble and I am satisfied. Let me know if I should have responded under a new PRICELINE thread or what. Thanks for your help. bmg
  22. Sorry that I didn't mention the dates, yes it is for the sames dates of 1/27 to 2/1/10 that I inquired about last.
  23. I am looking to identy a 3* hotel in Orlando, Fl. Sea World, IDrive South area that lists for $45.00 and includes Fitness, Business Center, Restuarant, Pool, Laundry, Internet Access. Also, there is a 3.5* in the same area (Sea World, I-Drive South) for $63.00 that lists: Business Center, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry Facilities and Internet Access. Could you help identify these and do they generally get positive feedback. All help is appreciated. Thanks . BMG
  24. Hello: In the past your advice has been so helpful. I am looking to bid/purchase on a hotel in Orlando for 1/27/09 -2/1/09 and trying to identify a few of the hotels in the Hotwire list. They are #2.5 @$35.00 , Suites, Smoke Free Room, Complimentary Breakfast, Pools, Laundry and High Speed in the Sea World, International area. What is your guess? My guess is a Marriott property but I may be wrong since I have not done this much. Also, there is a 4.5 star @$89.00 in the Sea World, South International Dr. area with the following Fitness, Pool, Business Center, Restaurant, High Speed, Tennis Nearby. What is your guess? The last question, has anyone heard of a bid being won for the Ritz Carlston and J.W. Marriott in Orlando in the Sea World area? Any help that you can provide is appreciated. MAE
