  1. Pueblo Bonito is probably the 4* for $102 in Cabo San Lucas. September is the ONE month considered off season for Cabo so good deals may be found. Weather is the Hottest but still no major humidity like Cancun. Too much Pacific Ocean. Depending on what your like, nightlife, seclusion, atmosphere should dictate your selection. I personally stay away from "The Corridor" as it's too far from town, and downtown Cabo is way too much fun to miss. The Corridor you will find most of your AI, MASSIVE resorts. But you are a little trapped. Great for a family wanting peace and quiet. The Bonito is situated just PERFECT, on Madano Beach. It's next door to my TS, The Melia which if you get that one you will not be disappointed, it's awesome.... Hope that helps some..... MB
  2. Roger that.... It's always stressful to hit the BUY button when you don't know what you are getting....
  3. Any Cancun experts out there? :-) Guesses on these 2 hotels, + any other feedback....? Travel Nov 24th - Nov 29th 2005 (Thanksgiving)..... 2 adults 1) 3* ($73) = Beachfront, restaurant, pool Odd it's only 3 amenities? (but on beach...) 2) 4* Best value ($83) = Beachfront, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Children's Activity Program, Tennis Nearby..... I Believe this is the Presidente Inter-Continental. Seems like a good deal but reviews on Trip Adviser are a mixed bag from "hate it!!" (21July) to "great Place"(02Aug)... Thanks as always, MB
  4. Oops....would help if I would read all catagories before mouthing off...!! Sorry. I guess my Cabo info wasn't appropriately posted either... guess I should stick to 'reading only'. MB in SanJose
  5. Thanks for the confirmation.... Yeah, Plans changed....(don't they always)....see my "Cacun all-inclusive" thread. FYI- ANY CABO QUESTIONS OUT THERE - I know the area pretty good as I own a Timeshare....administrator- feel free to cut/paste this: Hotwire map help- San Jose del Cabo- Near the airport. Quaint, more sleepy a town, actually bigger than to Cabo san lucas. A bit boring for the under 30 crowd. Not much nightlife. The Corridor- basically the drive from the airport to the pacific ocen side of Baja...45 minutes Resorts/Hotels up and down this corridor are secluded away from any town. Perfect if you want an all-inclusive, pampered vacation to "hang". Cabo San Lucas- My opinion by far the best. Post cards taken here. Fun party town at night. Awesome marina, cruise ships park here. Something for all ages. Hotels/Resorts on Madano Beach adjacent to the Marina are the best location. Good variety of hotel styles. The Melia is a great hotel and but probably only 3 1/2 star rating. Best to find a place walking distance to town. Weather is a mixture of dry hot, but cooler evenings due to Pacific ocean influence, and no bugs...!! MB
  6. Guys, A lot of talk on All Inclusive packages.... Looking on the amentities, in the fine print under Resorts it says "Note, a small resort fee may be charged". Does anyone have any experience with them adding an extra fee? Seems like the resorts whould need to as at those prices ($200 plus/minus) it's too good a deal for the price. ESPECIALLY if it's for the entire party of lets say three adults in one room! With 'all inclusive' I feel maybe you are trapped then to use THEIR restaurants, their bars, verses regular hotel experiencing diff. restaurants, etc... Part B to this... Should you waste your time on a 3 or 3 1/2 * at the mid $100s all inclusive, or just stick with the big 4 or 41/2 * for over $200...? Do some include tour packages and everything...? where's our feeback from travelers who've been there :-) Cancun is where I'm shopping now....over Thanksgiving, 24-29th Nov.... What is the main difference/ (and personal preference).... Riveria maya/Cancun/Isle Mujeres? I see most people on this board worried about which hotel/resort is listed....In Cancun can you really "go wrong" with any 3 1/2 or 4* place? Maybe it would it be better set up a review board whereas people can list/rate where they stayed? Be nice to post resorts to 'avoid'...maybe those $65 2 1/2 *s Thanks dudes and dudettes, MB
  7. I was planning on over New Years... Dec 30th- Jan 3rd....Friday-Tuesday
  8. Cabo over holidays is pretty expensive, so this $97 3 1/2 star "Best Value" stands out like a extreme sore thumb :-) I'm thinking it's the Marina Fiesta (lower end timeshare at the marina) as on Orbitz they are selling it for $150ish (+ tax, license doc fee). Also, A kitchenette is usually typical of a studio, w/timeshares. For comparison, also, on Orbitz, most places for that weekend are $300-$450 per night, so you can see my concern.... Anyone have experience on this, familar w/Cabo? Don't want to get stuck with a dog, too far from the action. Good news is Hotwire breaks the area down great, Cabo San Lucas, the Corridor, and San Jose Del Cabo. CABO SAN LUCAS is the place to be, and this looks like a winner.... any help appreciated. Near Beach, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Kitchenette. BEST VALUE $97.00
  9. Sorry, I didn't copy them....it did have around 6, 7 icons, "....and one amenitie had casino.... so you new it was a hotel/casino type place. I do remember it was the ONLY choice that had customer "reviews" to read, a best value, and peoples favorite mark.... MB
  10. Sorry I didn't update my stay in Reno here.... I ended up grabbing the Hotwire 4 * deal and sure enough got the Atlantis... Can't beat this price...$37 for a Saturday is outstanding. I also requested two doubles instead of a single king... Obviously vacancy rate is a bit high this time of year as I got that, and my choice of view (mountain or city).... Maybe it was slightly off season as the ski resorts aint fully operational yet. Anyway....4 thumbs up on the Hotwire/Reno/Atlantis 4 * (Reno airport area) MB
  11. Thanks for the skinny guys.... Looks like a change in plans, so no reason to stay down by the Orange County airport and this Hotwire location... That's interesing about the Extended Stay offer, and it would have been interesting trying PL down there too... I'll probably concentrate on the LAX area per my Los Angeles/PL posting... Later.... MB
  12. Roger-Wilco on the feedback guys.... Well it's not just limited to 3 star hotels....2.5, 2, and 1 are in "all" LA areas too. So basically yer hosed in a big market like that? Funny, how can PL come back and tell me normal rates for a 3 * in this area (Santa Monica) is $220....paaaalease.. Oh and if you drop to a 2.5* it says normal rates are in the $208 range. Come-on Price Line, throw me a bone will ya..!! Probably will switch to the airport area.....prices tend to be cheaper as they cater to the corporate/business market, which, because of the time of the year, probably equates to high vacancy rates during the holidays, and your $40-60 3 *..... MB
  13. Concerning re bid.... How can you do this if ALL areas have the same star ratings? The "tip" from this website mentions picking an area that does not have the corresponding highest star rating you are seeking..... well, that doesn't work if all areas have a the same rating right? Or is there a way to scrill back to a completely different "master" zone....? Case in point....Los Angeles....27Dec04...2 nites... doing a 3* search in Santa Monica... $65... No chance (PL says 3 star prices are $220, ya right...)... SO, using the re bidding "strategy" to bump up my bid to $75 I should select another area WITHOUT a 3 *.... Ooops...all areas have 3 stars! No can do....Hmmmm.... Maybe I'm missing something? Seems to me this would happen all the time as 2 1/2 and 3 * are the most available?... Appreciate any feedback.. MB
  14. Anyone got an idea which (probably junk) 2* in LAX area this is....?? Sorry, but "hotel list by city" only shows 3* and above for that area.... Kitchenette, High-Speed Internet Access, Laundry Facilities (self-service). $23 per room per night.
  15. Thanks mucho, I'll let ya know how it goes.... FYI- it's this Saturday (11Dec)...one night only. MB
  16. New to this forum...not sure if my protocol is correct. PL gives me a 4* option in downtown RENO...Any idea which hotel it is? I think the Silver Legacy is only a 3*....? I know in the "airport" area 4* is the Atlantis, but does anyone know which hotel PL rates as 4* in downtown Reno...?? Hotwire I can get at $37 + fees at the Atllantis, but curious to roll the dice (so to speak) and see what PL gives me downtown.... GREAT SITE GUYS...!! Funny how I found it. I tried HW for the first time and didn't feel good NOT knowing which hotel, so I did a 'google' search to see if any geeks out there perhaps posted hotwire hotels, and gee, what do I find, this forum...!! What a crack up... Thanks for any info, be using this site for reference lots.... MB
