  1. Greetings Fellow Better Bidders, This a winning bid for two rooms the total cost of which fallows the winning strategy. Alright I needed two rooms at the airport for one night so I started by checking past wins for a reasonable start price on this incredible site. Thanks to everyone who plugs in their info and props to the moderators, now for the winning betterbidder play and the details of the final cost. I started by bidding $37.00 for a three star in the Phoenix Airport (PHX) zone -Denied and asked if I would up the bid by $10.00 to rebid, I use this site so "not!' I instead added the Apache Junction zone and increased my bid to $38.00 ( this zone has no 3* selections so it is a free rebid) read Bidding again before 24 hours. by thereuare, whose explanation is very good. - At any rate my bid of $38.00 was -Rejected but I was not dejected as there are more then one free rebid zones in the area so... I added the Carefree zone and increased my bid to $40.00 ( just a whim to go up by two bucks this time ) -Accepted As a note the Carefree zone does not have anything listed less then a 4* but it works just the same in terms of a free rebid. As always I used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link, cause this site is that good. Anyway here are the details for the win. Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $40.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $80.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $17.96 (USD) Total Room Cost: $97.96 (USD) Many thanks again to everyone who takes the time to share their wins. Regards Ottis
  2. To any BB member who would be so kind to answer, I have tried to search the forum for an answer to the fallowing question but have had no luck. I am sure the answer is here somewhere but am running out of time to find the answer. The question is; Does Priceline add their fee for each night of a stay? If you only bid for one night then add extra nights at that price when it is offered? Or do you only pay the fee on the one night. Another form of this question is if bidding on a multiple night stay is the fee applied to all nights or only once? Thanks to anyone who chooses to answer. Best Regards, Ottis
  3. Seasons Greetings to all BB members, I have been trying to get a place in Syracuse for the above date for about two weeks now. I submitted bids over that period about five times. I was hoping for the DoubleTree because my last visit there was very good. I also wanted to do better then the $70 that won me a place last time, it seems others have secured 3*'s in the area form between $55 & $65. Well I got a place and bettered my last win by a buck...progress one buck at a time!. Anyway here was the dollar saving play. I started by using the BB PRICELINE link. I placed a starting bid of $60 for a 3* in zone 2 (East Syracuse), declined. Added zone 1 (Cicero) increased bid to $62, declined. Added zone 3 (Fairgrounds Area Syracuse) increased bid to $64, declined. Added zone 4 (Liverpool) increased bid to $66, declined. Added zone 5 (Syracuse Airport (SYR) Area) increased bid to $69, accepted. I skipped $68 because all my other bids failed as even number bids so I figured I'd try an odd number bid. Textbook bidding, I think, especially the tossing in of the odd numbered bid. So I will Check-In : Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Courtyard By Marriott Syracuse 6415 Yorktown Circle Syracuse, NY 13057 and Check-Out : Saturday, January 23, 2010 For a total cost as fallows, Room Subtotal: $69.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $16.96 (USD) Total Room Cost: $85.96 (USD) Plus the currency conversion cost of $Can to $US. what ever that maybe! Well this is my third time using PRICELINE and always I get there from this forum. Thanks again to everyone who has shared their winning bid information on this site. Regards to all! Ottis
  4. Using the BB PRICELINE link; On my first bid of $70 I won the 3*Doubletree Hotel in East Syracuse. OK I didn't win the hotel just a room for the night, If life were like that I wouldn't need a visa. Regards to all BB members Ottis
  5. Hello almimi, Thank you for thanking me! Being new to this site and PRICELINE it is nice to see that my first post helped someone even in a minor way. I learned a good deal about using PRICELINE from this forum so Thanks to everyone who posts. I hope you have a great time in Toronto next weekend and see you in the halls, I'll be the happy guy that didn't pay full price. Regards Ottis
  6. My first post and first time using Priceline. I booked fallowing your PRICELINE link and after doing a good deal of trolling for information on this site. If as a first time user I have any advice it is spend sometime looking at what others have done and learn from them. Anyway enough about that. My first bid was for a 4* in the downtown south area for $65 and I received the "your bid was not accepted but for $17 more you can resubmit, had I not spent time on this brilliant site perhaps I would have. Instead I added a second zone and upped my bid to $70 and "Great success!!!" On their web site the Sheraton lists rooms starting at $159.00 Can. if the conversion From US to Canadian is good then I will have done well total $US for the room as it is listed on my receipt $70.00+$17.04(taxes&fees)=$87.04 or $95.00 Can. approx. One Thing if I want to add a comment after my stay do I add it to this thread and did I get it all right so far? Regards Ottis
