  1. Used the HOTWIRE link from this site for a fantastic deal! The conference rate we were given was $109 a night. So, a savings of $48 a night ROCKS!!!
  2. oh, and it's offered for $80 a night instead of $199 on other sites (or so they say!)
  3. Anyone know what this hotel might be? I used the HOTWIRE link on this site for 9/13 - 9/16. Came up with a: 4-star Hotel in Downtown Atlanta I thought it might be the Sheraton, but that seems to have an 80% approval rating. This one says they are still getting reviews for this property. This Hotel features the following amenities: Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Thoughts? Thanks so much!!!
  4. I used the priceline quickquote on this site and secured the 4* Westin Oaks in Houston, Texas near the Galleria for just $65 per night. This is excellent! The hotel is within walking distance from a conference I am attending. Woohoo! I originally bid for just 3 nights. But, Priceline gave me the option to extend my stay for the same rate. So, I extended to a 4th night. Thanks so much BetterBidding! You have made my travels more affordable!!!!
  5. I used the PRICELINE link from BetterBidding. Tried over several days for a 4* hotel near LAX beginning with $60 a night. Didn't get it. Over the next few days (waiting the 24 hours between bids) I increased to $65, $66, $67, $68 and $69. I finally got the Sheraton Gateway for $69 a night from 2/25 - 2/27. I'm very happy with this bid. The conference I am attending is at this hotel. So, this makes it very convenient! Thanks so much for a great site!!!
  6. I used the PRICELINE link on BetterBidding. Took a few days of bidding and waiting the 24 hours between each bid, but I had the time. So, it worked. I started at $55, but increased a few dollars each bid and finally got the Crowne Plaza for $70. Happy with it since it's free internet and close to all my activities that week. Thanks so much for all your help!

  8. Thanks. I ended up trying Priceline using the links on BetterBidding. I ended up with the Westin Oaks for $65 a night from 3/15 - 3/18. And, it offered me the option to extend my stay for the same price. So, I extended through 3/19. Awesome! I posted this in the priceline Texas forum. Thanks so much for your help!

  10. I'm trying to identify what this hotel might possibly be on Hotwire. I used the better bidding quick quote link for Hotwire. Searched Houston, TX for dates 3/15/12 - 3/18/12, 1 room, 2 adults. results for Houston Galleria area came up with: 4 star hotel for $72 a night Amenities listed: Smoke Free Rooms Business Center Pool High-Speed Internet Restaurant Tennis Nearby Recommended in 90% of hotwire reviews. Anyone know what this hotel might be? Thanks!
  11. Thanks. Using the PRICELINE link, I did the following: Search LAX & Culver City area, $65 - refused (I was still in the 24 hour time period so, I had to add the Culver City zone) add Lawndale at $68 - refused add Redondo at $70 - accepted. So, I got the Sheraton Gateway LAX for $70 a night from 2/26 - 2/28. Thanks for your help!
  12. I would prefer the Renaissance LAX. I added the other zones one by one because I saw that the 4* hotels in those areas wouldn't probably go for the price of the ones in the LAX area. The 4*'s in those areas don't go for less than $115 or so. Thus, I knew adding those zones was fairly safe to let me rebid, but still get a hotel in the LAX area. Tried again tonight and went up to $68 but didn't get it again. Will keep trying. It could be that I'm too far out for the dates I want and they aren't ready to sell them that cheap yet. Not sure. Thanks!
  13. Wondering on some strategies for getting a 4* Hotel near LAX. I'd love the Renaissance, but am OK with any of the 4*'s listed on Priceline. Here's what I've done so far: Using the PRICELINE link in the upper right corner of this site, I put in the dates of 2/26 - 2/28 for Los Angeles. Then, I clicked on 4* and LAX zone. First bid $55 - denied Added Hollywood zone and bid $57 - denied Added Brentwood zone and bid $60 - denied Added Beverly Hills zone and bid $65 - denied Any ideas on how to get this property (or any of the other 4*'s near LAX) and how much it will cost? From my search, it appears some have gotten this property for between the prices I put in. Thanks! Terry
  14. Do you know if the Hyatt Huntington Beach is in the North Huntington Beach region on Hotwire or the Newport Beach / Huntington Beach region? Just trying to determine which one to watch and see if it comes up. Thanks!
  15. Thanks! I redid the search (through the BB HOTWIRE link) and chose just Huntington beach as the location and 4 star only. There are no hotels showing up for that search. So, for now, I guess that hotel is not available for those dates. Maybe it's too early. I will try again in August and see if we are close enough to that date yet. Thanks!
  16. Done. Thanks for the reminder. I didn't realize I needed to respond to the reply to that post. Thanks!
  17. Thanks. Didn't realize I needed to respond to the reply. I tried the search you suggested, but it still just came up as the Sofitel. So, I ended up having to book the London on their site. For this one, I had to be at that particular hotel. Because there were so many Oscar events at that time in that hotel, I don't think they were offering it through HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. I just couldn't find it on there. Thanks for your help! I love this site and it is very helpful. I helped another friend book through here tonight and she is now a loyal BB user too!
  18. I would like to try to get the Hyatt Huntington Beach for October 6 - 11. When I search HOTWIRE (through the BB link, of course), I don't see this hotel coming up (from the 4* rating and amenities listed, which from this forum, I understand are: Resort, Near Beach, Oceanfront, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, business center, high speed internet) Is it that I'm just trying to book this too early in the year? Any suggestions on how to get this hotel for that time? I can be flexible on the dates by a day or two. But, I do want this specific hotel and not the Newport Beach one. So, I don't want to use PRICELINE (unless someone has some tips on how to get this hotel through PRICELINE). Thanks so much! I really appreciate your help!
  19. I have searched under the HOTWIRE link from the site and it came up with the following: March 4 - 7 $244 per room per night 4.5* Hotel with amenities of: -fitness -pool -restaurants -business center -high speed internet The reviews say there are over 500 reviews. I think this sounds more like the Sofitel, but wanted to get your opinion to see. I am really wanting to book The London West Hollywood. thoughts? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!
  20. So, here's the good on the deal: 4* Hotel - W Ft. Lauderdale $125 a night April 18 - 22, 2010 To get this, I used the Hotel Checker link above. Thanks for your help on this. The W is in Zone 5, but PRICELINE doesn't indicate it's even an option on their map view. there are only three 4 star hotels they indicate are in that zone - Marriott Harbor Beach, Westin and Crowne Plaza. So, I just wasn't expecting the W (and when I got that result, assumed it was in the other zone I had checked to try to rebid). So, even with having to walk or take a taxi to the Marriott for the conference, I'm still getting a fantastic deal, as the conference rate at the Marriott was $259 a night and the lowest my travel agent could get was $329 a night. thanks so much for your help!
  21. Well, I tried what this person did in this priceline hotel win and got screwed. I was trying to get the exact same Marriott Harbor Beach Resort since there is a conference there I am going to. Instead I got the W Ft. Lauderdale. I bid $100 per night for the zone 5 in Ft. Lauderdale on PRICELINE. It didn't accept the bid, so I went up to $125 a night, chose only 4 star and picked a zone where there wasn't a 4 star (zone 3). And, I got the W Ft. Lauderdale hotel that is 2 miles away from the Marriott. So, I'll be taking a taxi there and back or walking (which I enjoy, so it should turn out to be fine). But, it's just less convenient. Considering the W internet rates are $300 + and the conference rate at the Marriott was $259 a night, I'm still going to end up saving quite a bit. It would have just been better to get the Marriott. So, beware when trying the trick this person indicated. It may or may not work. It appears that Priceline isn't quite up to date on letting you know if htere is a 4 star in zone 3 - there is.
  22. Hotwire Purchase: 2 nights from 9/25 - 9/27/09. $39 a night (hotwire claimed other sites have it for $109 a night, which I seriously doubt because there is no way this hotel is that expensive) Description on this site: 2.5* Extended Stay Deluxe (2700 Gracy Farms Lane) Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Laundry OR Amenities: Pool, Fitness, Laundry My opinion: The room was very clean. But, that's about all I can say about it. The hotel is more of a 1 star. There is no complimentary breakfast on the weekends, only on the weekdays. There is no maid service unless you pay extra. The hotel clerk insulted me when I was checking in and asked if we could have a room with 2 beds since there were 2 of us. She told me I couldn't because I booked through Hotwire and she said it in a very demeaning way. I would have been better off sleeping on the floor rather than on the bed. i think it would have been more comfortable. There is a full size refrigerator and you can cook in the room. So, that is nice for saving money if you want to eat meals in. I would skip this hotel. It's not worth the chiropractic bill to recover from the bad night's sleep.
