  1. Thanks for the tip about calling. I'll do so and update here with results. Hopefully the rate going down and the end of Fashion Week means there are more rooms available.
  2. Sorry..and I even had it in my notes which amenities were listed so I would remember to post them here. Boutique, Business Center, Fitness Center, High Speed Internet, Restaurant Boutique made it easy to identify, and without Smoke Free and with 4.5 TripAdvisor stars it was distinguished from the other possibility, Hilton Fashion District. Interesting to see that in the 1/2 hour since my booking the price has gone down to $154! Thanks again
  3. Thanks to details in Hotwire Hotel List I was able to identify this with near certainty as Hotel Indigo. We need two rooms/3 beds, for a couple and two adult children. After trying out several combinations, I selected 2 rooms, 3 adults, 1 child and got Hotel Indigo. I'm hoping we'll get 2 or beds in one of the rooms, and will call the hotel to confirm or change if needed. Booked through Better Bidding link.
  4. Booked (through BB PRICELINE link) upon arrival in town. 4th of July is quiet for travel, but there were 4000 rooms in town taken for a weekend soccer tournament, and no historic wins to check. Hotwire had the Marriott for $149, so I bid $85 and it was accepted first try. Probably could have gone lower, but the price was great, and the hotel was new in 2009 and lovely. They offered choice of 2 double beds or king. Bonus for not getting a room facing the historic square was a view of the fireworks that night.
  5. Thanks for the help. We decided to use Hotwire (through BB of course) and got the Hyatt Bethesda 3.5* for $66/night. Priceline mix of zones was a bit too confusing with short notice for our trip!
  6. I'm confused by the DC-Maryland suburbs and the new zones including Bethesda. I'd be happy with the 3* Hilton Garden Inn (I know I can't be guaranteed anything) - but are Legacy and Residence Inn in the Bethesda zone or Maryland/DC suburbs? Meaning, might I get them if I bid 3* in Bethesda? Thanks (this is clarification of an earlier post)
  7. Any idea what the 3* $63 might be? Fitness, pool, internet, business. Description doesn't look like the previously id'd Crowne Plaza Silver Spring. (I'd love it to be the Hilton Garden Inn) Hotwire has 3.5* for $66, looks like Hyatt Regency Bethesda which would be ok. Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business Thank you (this was originally combined with another post in Priceline forum; I separated them)
  8. Max I planned to go was $100, since Expedia special (learned about it on Better Bidding!) was $139 including breakfast and some percs/discounts. And Hotwire had what looked like Palazzo or Venetian for $116. Either looked fine to me. Started at $80, rejected Added Boulder Strip $85, rejected Re-routed to list of hotels, exited, went back in and resumed. Added Fremont, $90, rejected Got message to try adding $20 to $110, ignored Added Henderson, $95, rejected, re-routed to list of hotels, exited, went back in and resumed Added Lake Las Vegas, $100 - Accepted! Thanks for all the tips.
  9. $53 on HOTWIRE (was $49 yesterday, so I decided to pull the trigger today) casino, fitness, pool, rest, bus, golf, spa Easy to ID Thanks as always
  10. After several days of bidding attempts starting at $65 and increasing in $5 increments while adding zones, I finally had success at $95. Big Waterfire night with Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. I took note of another posting that bidder had no last-minute success on a Waterfire night. Final bidding sequence: started at $85 after receiving reminder email from Priceline to try again. Increased to $90 and added East Seekonk. Priceline offered $100, I added Warwick and bid $95, it was accepted. Although I started the bidding at Better Bidding, I'm not sure that when I bid from the reminder email it went through BB. If not...sorry, won't make that mistake again! We stayed at the Westin (and paid much more!) a couple of years ago for Waterfire and were pleased. Hope we are again.
  11. Update to our stay: Marriot was great. We arrived at 3:30 PM just as (sad)Browns and (happy)Packers fans were streaming up from the stadium, so no room with a King bed was available yet. We said no problem, left our bags, went for a walk, returned after an hour and were rewarded with an upper-floor room with a fabulous view of the lake and Rock Hall of Fame. Good central location for Warehouse District, subway, Rock Hall, 4th street dining. Thanks for bidding help here.
  12. Update to our trip: The Hyatt worked out great: it's like Chicago - big, crowded, full of energy, well-located, friendly, helpful, clean. Architecture and decor are not super, but our 26th floor room was quiet, good-sized and we had a sliver of a lakeview of the Planeterium in the distance. We were able to check in early (before noon) and had the option of king or two double beds, and an upgrade for $20 for a room with a better view (we declined). Thanks again for all of the help.
  13. I finalized our Chicago plans - thanks to great help here looking at posts and having questions answered. Bid for NMA/Riv North up to $85, not accepted. Not surprised, just testing waters. Then decided that we wanted to be more central to museums and parks, and saw from several postings that the Hyatt was coming in at $60 bids for our dates. Our first bid (through BB PRICELINE link of course) was $60 and won Hyatt as expected (which was the likely candidate on Hotwire for $89)...more $ to spend on seeing the sights and dining. We're pleased, looking forward to a first-time visit to Chicago - our Halloween treat! Thanks again.
  14. Well, I did it! As you suggested, bid $40: rejected; added zone, bid $45: rejected; added zone, bid $50: rejected; added zone, bid $53: accepted. Marriott Cleveland Downtown at Key Center. A couple of Tripadvisor reviews mentioned the homeless in the neighborhood - but hey, it's a city. Many thanks for all the help, and I'll gear up for my Chicago reservation next. J
  15. Ok, thanks - much clearer. I see 7 re-bid zones (where there are no 3.5*), not 6 - but I get the idea. I see only 3 3.5* in Priceline's list for downtown Cleveland, so I'm thinking the process should be pretty straightforward as to what I might get. Will check in when I have a result. J.
  16. Thank you. I would like to be around $60 for PRICELINE; much more than that and the HOTWIRE $75 seems reasonable, since it appears to be for Doubletree or Crowne, either of which look fine.
  17. Based on forum posts, I think I can do better on Priceline than the $75 3.5* available on Hotwire. But I'm a first-time bidder and a bit unsure. I want to be downtown, for a quick trip to R&R Hall of Fame. If I bid for a 3.5* on Priceline, will I be informed if I am being offered a 4* instead? A previous post referenced an offer from Intercontinental, which is further away than I want to be. I thought of offering $45 for a 3.5* downtown to start. Does that seem reasonable? Thanks
  18. Thank you both for the input. I'll read up on how to bid on PRICELINE, confer with my husband, and decide which route to take. Either way, I'll go through this site and let you know how I make out. I need to do the same for a couple of nights in Cleveland too. Thanks again
  19. I knew I forgot something in this post! Amenities were Restaurant, FItness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Spa 4*, Mag Mile There is also a 3* Mag Mile Streeterville with Fitness, Business, and Internet Thank you
  20. Hello I'm new to the forum and never visited Chicago and hope I understand the process. I see a 4* Mag Mile/Streeterville for $95 on Hotwire for above dates. I think it could be Hotel Felix or Hyatt Regency - any thoughts? Is Loop or Mag Mile better for typical tourist stuff? Thanks
