I think I may have it figure out via my own detective work. Amenities list wouldn't copy/paste btw.
This is an hotrate deal for $170, supposedly 56% off. 90% guest rating. Beachfront resort on south end of Cozumel. Anyone have any ideas of which hotel? I'm guessing it's not all-inclusive for that rate. Thx for any tips identifying!
Used HOTWIRE link on this website to book this "hot rate" of $47/nt plus tx/fees:

I don't see what you're talking about, otherwise I'd add it. But one thing I can add is that I got a room upgrade at check-in, from city view double room to oceanfront king...by donating $15 to the Westgate Foundation. The front desk guy said they were raising $ to help food banks with Thanksgiving dinners. Sounded good to me!
Booked on HOTWIRE using betterbidding portal. $47.08 incl tax/junk fee and there will be a "resort fee" of prolly 10 bucks at check-in. Gotta pack & hit the road now! B)

Got this on about the 6th bid after starting at 4 stars w/2 locations, then adding suitable locations and going down one star. I've been here before and it's a really nice hotel, so I am pleased to return at this price.

Started at $52 searching in Surfside only, added Pawleys Island to search and raised it a buck, then on third try got 3 Palms for $54 after adding MB South to search. Used this site's PRICELINE link, natch! B)
I just booked another night, August 8, same hotel and same winning bid of $52 as my last priceline purchase (but alas the "summer" discount code isn't working now). Express deal is still listed on Priceline for $65 but it looks like $52 is currently the going rate if you want to bid and get a better deal. (Again, used your link to PRICELINE.)
This hotel was offered as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal on that date for $65, discounted 60% off. I figured what the heck I'll try to bid lower with Name Your Own Price...my first bid of 52 bucks was accepted! Adding tax/fee and subtracting the SUMMER 5% discount my total is $65.19. Sweet! P.S. Used your PRICELINE link of course!
I saw Surfside 3* offered as a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal on priceline for 94 bucks. So I decided to start bidding lower, starting with $80, expanded search to Pawley's Island and South MB zones, kept raising it a buck til I had my bid accepted at $84 plus tax/fee less the 5% "summer" discount. Not sure if this is the best deal out there but it's prime summer vacation time, the room was nice and clean and had a frig, microwave & coffeemaker...and it is an oceanfront property with decent pool & outdoor jacuzzi set-up. Just got back home from a pleasing stay at this Holiday Inn! (P.S. Used your PRICELINE link, of course.)
Kept my search at 3.5 stars, started at 35 bucks and kept adding locations (except for airport) & raising offer price. Got this win on about 6th try. With promo coupon "Summer" applied net price was 50 bucks/nt incl taxes/fees. Used your PRICELINE link of course.

Tried various bidding methods and stopped at 50 bucks. Wanted 3+ stars & ended up expanding search areas to everywhere but Conway. Quit bidding and went offline. Back online again, I got email back from Priceline suggesting higher price. And so I went to 53 bucks keeping same search area and got this one. Oceanfront so I'm looking forward to it. Used PRICELINE link on this site to book.
I needed help IDing this hotel before booking, so since you couldn't or wouldn't look it up, I decided to look and book elsewhere.
Is it worth using Express Deal on Priceline or is it best to bid and start with lowball numbers? This would be for end of January, 4-5 nights, with a dog. Airport area is best for us this trip. I see the following as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal and wonder what hotel chain it might be.

I first bid on hotels in 4 NOLA zones (1-4), first entering $60 hoping for 4*. Not accepted, so I went for same 4 zones looking for 3.5* and lowered my bid to $55. Accepted. Hope I like it, as it gets mixed reviews on TripAdvisor. Hotwire had a Metarie 3.5* for $64 for 3.5*, but it's further out of NO & I couldn't figure out which hotel that might be. So I think I'm going to be happier with this Wyndham hotel on Poydras.

Searching via the HOTWIRE link this came up for $64/night. Plans are firm & I just need one night. Any guess as to which hotel in Metarie this might be? Thanks!
I just got back from an extended 3 wk trip to Yucatan, staying mostly in timeshares... but I added two nights at this Westin (used SPG pts so nope, did not book via link from this board). The Westin is very nice, the unit I had was 1420 on lagoon side...well-maintained, clean, huge room and HEAVENLY beds. Grounds well maintained, pool is delightfully warm. Downside...onsite restaurants are very pricey. I'll write a longer review soon...just got back and yardwork & housework are priority #1. Have fun to all who go to Westin in Cancun...it's definitely well worth the $55 or so average winning bid!
I wouldn't try this technique for someone that bids once or twice a year. I'm in a Priceline room about three to four days a week and usually in the same hotel. After a few years of staying in the same areas I got a feel for the room rates for certain areas at certain times of the year. While 85% of the time I end up where I want, it isn't perfect. This method allows me to rebid the same area when I absolutely don't want to add certain zones. Most of the time I bid a few weeks in advance as my plane tickets are puchased four to six weeks out so this isn't even necessary. But every now and then I have to head out the same day and this usually helps me if I fail on the first bid.
Cahiatt...I found your postings very helpful. Btw I live in Atlanta too...so...have a great weekend in our warmish (at last!) Hotlanta winter! :)
I am confused whether it's best to try Priceline or best to go with Hotwire for Cancun. I've only used Hotwire in the past and that was for hotels in USA. (Of course I'm searching & will book via linking from this site.) But what to do? Here's a good price for a Cancun 4*, I think...$69/night. Will this end up being Westin...or...???

I just went to Priceline via your link and got a msg from them saying "want to see winning bid?"...now I don't know if they're trying to steer me to a higher price place or if I should even use that link they offered to me. I'm intrigued by all the people who got Westin for around $60 recently...I'd like to try to get that one if it's still possible. Here's what Priceline sent me...I hesitate to use their link 'cause I don't want to pay over $100 for Westin!
