  1. Oops. Sorry. On Priceline it is Copley Square - Theater District. We've had great experiences with 3-1/2* and above, so I'd like to stick with that, and I'd take anything at that level. Thanks again.
  2. I hope you come through for me (yet again)! We need to move our son into Berklee School of Music July 9-10 and am hoping for a Back Bay hotel. I see someone else just got the Sheraton for $75/night, and I'd be very happy with that or the Hilton (I'm thinking the other two close by hotels -- the Eliot and the Lenox -- will be above our price range). Should I wait until we get close to the date? Should I try to lock it in now? What's a good strategy here? Thanks.
  3. Using your PRICELINE link (of course) accepted my first bid of $55. Stayed there for the last visit in October (when I paid $85) and loved the hotel and the neighborhood. So far, three hotel rooms in Philly for $60 or less for the month of February! I'm a happy girl! :)
  4. Well, today must be my lucky day. Using your PRICELINE link, of course, I got a second accepted $60 bid, again at the Marriot Downtown!!! Since it's such a big hotel, I was hoping they would add some rooms early in the week. Before my offer was accepted, Priceline even reminded me that I had another accepted offer for the same dates. going to go run out and buy a lottery ticket now. :) Thanks again for your assistance. This site is wonderful!
  5. AaronJB, no it was an outright rejection, not a duplicte bid. Maybe $75 max. Thanks so much for your help and advice.
  6. I don't have to have the same hotel, and I tried to get another room via PRICELINE, but it would not accept my bid (even went up to $65)! Does the identity of the bidder have anything to do with whether they accept or reject your bid? Might I have better luck having my husband bid with his credit card?
  7. OK, I just found out I need a second room. Any helpful hints?
  8. Accepted my first bid of $60: $60 plus $16.36 = $76.35 I thought the bid was on the low side but I guess not. Used your PRICELINE link! :)
  9. Was rejected at $75 and PRICELINE told me to up my bid by $22, but I just rebid instead. Got it for $85. Very happy!
  10. OK. Using your PRICELINE link I just booked the Radisson Plaza Warwick in downtown Philly for $85/night. What was interesting is that they rejected $75 and told me (as a one-time offer) to increase it by $22. I declined, rebid, and got it for $85. I was thinking I should just wait it out and see if I could book something closer to when I was leaving, but this has been eating up so much time, and its Parents Weekend and a home football game, so I am sure the prices will stay high. I am very happy with this. Thanks so mcuh for all your help.
  11. $70 was rejected for downtown too. I may be staying in Cherry HilL/Mt/Laurel.
  12. Unfortunately, no leeway on dates because we are coming for Parents Weekend. I may try again and go a bit higher and then try downtown instead. I think the University City rates are inflated because of Parents Weekend, so I may have better luck downtown (though I'll get socked with high parking fees). Thanks again for your advice. I'll use your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and report back on the results.
  13. Rejected all the way up to $75. Is it worth it to try again in a few days?
  14. Thanks thereuare. I know the area well, and I know what would be a 3+ star. I'd like to pay no more than $85 (all included). Unless that is very unrealistic. My research on this Board tells me others are getting 3+ stars in downtown Philly for that amount or less, so that's what I'm basing it on. Is that reasonable?
  15. First, thanks for all the incredibly helpful information here. This is a great service. PRICELINE has a hotel up for University City for the dates I want. There are only two hotels in the area -- the Hilton Inn at Penn and the Sheraton University, and both are posting rates of over $200 for the dates. I'd be happy with either one. What would be a good strategy for getting the best price possible? Thanks in advance.
