One more to help ID. Dates have changed to 11/14/14-11/17/14 and I'm searching for 1 room with 3 adults to try to get the double bed. Using BiddingHelper, I get a 3* - $68 - Crystal City/Reagan National Airport with FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Airport shuttle, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower. Is there any way to distinguish whether that's the Radisson or Holiday Inn?

Thank you! Yes, that was definitely very thorough and helpful. I'm buying for 2 family members so I'll have to sit down and explain the pros/cons to them, and see what they want to do. I'll follow back up on this thread when I've made a decision, or if I have more questions (if that's possible). And, I'll definitely use the Hotwire link for any other searches I may do.

From the List of Hotwire hotels, this would appear to be a clear match to the Hyatt Regency Crystal City. Is that correct? My issue is that while I need a room for 2 adults, I'd prefer to have 2 beds. I've learned from your forums that if you select 3 adults instead on Hotwire that should give you a 2nd bed. Is that correct? Therefore, when I redo this search with 3 adults using the Bidding Helper, I get a different 4* and a 4.5*, which don't appear to be on the Hotwire list. They are: 4* for $135/night. However, when I do the same search for 3 adults in one room starting my search through the HOTWIRE link, I get the above two results, but it also appears that I get the same 4* result from the "2 adult" search for $141/night. Why would that 3rd, 4* hotel not show up on BiddingHelper? Therefore, my final question is that if it appears that the 4* for $73 for 2 adults is the same as the 4* for $141 for 3 adults, then what is your experience on booking the 2 adult rate, and calling to request a double bed room? Can they outright deny you? If this is the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, their website shows they offer both types of rooms, and, of course, it's the same price on the website ($189) whether you book a King or 2 Double beds. I used the HOTWIRE link to book the 4* Airport property for $70/night, and you were correct, it was the Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel. Before I booked I verified that the hotel allows pets, which it does. I'm really happy with this as it's only 6.8 miles from my downtown destination, and the parking is free. Thank you so much for your assistance. This board is invaluable when booking hotels through Hotwire or Priceline.

I'm looking to book a room in Charlotte for one night, 11/30/14-12/1/14 (2 adults, 2 children (1 and 3 years old), and I'm getting two results in two different zones that do not appear to be on the Hotwire Hotel Charlotte list. Thank you so much for all the help. I decided to go with your suggestion and went with the 4* - Magnificent Mile Area - River North w/:Complimentary Breakfast, Free Internet, etc., which turned out to be the Kinzie Hotel, as expected.

I'm seeing the same thing, and starting to think it makes sense to just go with the Hyatt for all 3 nights at $121/$122. I did briefly see a couple of results this morning for the one night (8/30-8/31) in the $150 range, but they don't show up anymore and the cheapest showing is the $188 Crowne Plaza Metro, which does appear to be out of the way especially since we'd be taking the train to the Sox game that night. I might sit on it a day and check again to make sure.

I mistyped my original request. It should have been 8/30 - 9/2. (NOT 8/31). The prices are much higher for that Saturday night than Sunday and Monday night, which makes sense. When you do 8/30-9/2, it looks like it's still the Hyatt, but the price goes up $121 a night. I wonder if it makes sense to do one night in another place and then switch to the Hyatt on Sunday and Monday night?

You were correct. I got the Crowne Plaza St. Louis Downtown, and it's listed as a 3*.

Looking for a 3.5*/4* hotel in either downtown or midtown. Bid up slowly from $40, adding other zones with non-3.5*/4* options. Got Renaissance at $52. Was using what appeared to be the 3.5* Hotel Indigo for $57 on Hotwire as my maximum limit not to exceed. Used the PRICELINE link.

Using the HOTWIRE link, I booked 4 rooms at this hotel for 2 nights from 9/24-9/26. The hotel is the 3.5* Chateau Bourbon Wyndham Historic with Amenities: Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. Is there a way to edit the title of this post, or should I create a new topic to show the winning bid information?

Ah, I always thought the recommended % of customer reviews was the Trip Advisor %. A follow-up question though. I also just noticed on the Hotwire details page that below the Customer Review section there is a Customer Rating along with the Trip Advisor "owl eyes" logo as well as the 5 round circles. On the Hotwire page, this has 4 complete circles filled in. Looking at the Trip Advisor page for the Chateau Bourbon, it has 3.5 circles filled in. Should these ratings match? I also looked at the Westin Canal Place on Trip Advisor and it has four circle filled in. I guess if those ratings do match it's possible that the listed Hotwire 3.5* French Quarter Hotel is for a downgraded Westin Canal Place.

Used the forum PRICELINE link. Initial bid of $40 for 3* in Kennesaw area rejected. Priceline offered a free rebid for $12 increase, which I declined. Added a free zone area and rebid for $45 for 3* in Kennesaw. Accepted! $58.76 after taxes. Normal rate for this hotel is $99/night.

rmsmith pretty much nailed it with the above post. In addition to comments above, the choices depend on what you want to do while you're there. Downtown has Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Phillips Arena if there is a Hawks/Thrashers game; however, the area is fairly dead at night and as rmsmith mentioned the majority of homeless in the city are in this area and they have been known to be a little aggressive. That is, they'll spot tourists and follow them around asking them if they need any help, and they pretty much won't leave you alone unless you give them money or if you're persistent and just keep walking. Midtown (about 10 blocks north) has more restaurants and is more "happening", but there's not much "touristy" stuff to do there. However, it's convenient to downtown, either by a short taxi or MARTA ride. Buckhead is the trendy area of downtown. Lots of shopping, restaurants; but again, not touristy. Little bit farther north, but not too far.

Agreed about price being a good deal - I always enjoy saving those extra couple of dollars when I can. Wyndham's website is currently showing a best available rate of $109 /night, though there is also an $89 /night advance rate.

Basically looking for a 4* or 3.5* around I-Drive to attend Braves Spring Training Game. Basis for to stay under for bidding was a 4* condo on Hotwire for $69 and 3.5* hotel on Hotwire for $59. Bid on 4* all the way from $40 - $60 in $2 increments using free re-bid zones with no luck. Did not bid for Downtown Orlando zone though as I didn't really want to stay that far away. Begin bidding on 3.5* starting at $30 - $48 in $2 increments using free re-bid zones, and got the Wyndham Orlando at $48. However, to add a disclaimer, I kind of made a mistake in my bidding and accidentally added the Universal Orlando Resort Area-Intl Drive North as the very last zone I added. I was thinking it was a free re-bid zone, instead of a zone with 3.5* options. Therefore, my guess is that you can probably get the Wyndham Orlando for a cheaper amount at this date. Anyways, happy with the amount and location though a little worried about the hotel. Seems that the reviews are across the board on this place. If it's bad, luckily I'm only staying there one night.

Wanted something a little cheaper, but can't complain about an $80/night rate at a 4* hotel whose website lists the cheapest rates for these three days as $270 for Thursday, and $230 for Friday and Saturday.
