Well I finally got my car for Oct 14-22! Started bidding low at $8/day for compact and $9 for mid-size. Increased both bid amounts each day by $1. Ended up getting the compact for $15/day from Alamo with a total price of $173.20 for 8 days. The best Orbitz could do was $383.00. This was my first time using PRICELINE and it saved us some $$$ Thanks for the tips.

OK, I discovered I must have made an error in the original bid process and my bid never went through. So I re-bid $8/day for a mid-size and of course got rejected, then bid $10 for an economy and got rejected. I have three weeks so I plan to gradually ramp up the bidding. I love the chase and I have no doubt of success eventually. I am glad I stumbled onto this site as it is very informative. And I will use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links from this site.

Thank you, the site is most helpful. I guess I expected a definite yes or no on my offer. I am afraid to put in another offer and then wind up renting two cars! And I could not find a way to go in and view my offer to see if were accepted/rejected. So I am a little confused right now on how the process works. Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi, I used the PRICELINE link on this site and made my first offer for a car on Priceline for 7 days out of TPA. I hit the buy button and then was directed back to the rental car home page. I'm curious what happens next? Do I get an email accepting or rejecting my bid? How long does it usually take? Thanks
